Aerin pet Akira's hair again. "No. Anubis is not the reaper, he is the binder, the purifier. He is your patron, the guardian of orphans." The mouse leaned back, and poked Akira's forehead. "You will understand one day. I assume you saw something in the bathroom that may have been a lost soul, or something. One day, you'll lead them to their place, hon. For now, you just need to find your own..."

Akira sniffled again, his ears twitched, raising slightly out of their refusal to move. Akira never thought he had a place. It was only natural, since he was banished from his home.

"I didn't hurt Luke too badly, did I?" He asked, moreso out of curiosity than actual caring, "I mean, his neck... I didn't... break anything?"

Aerin snickered. "No. He had a few lacerations and minor injuries to his windpipe, but half an hour in the convalescence room had him totally healed." Aerin lightly kissed the top of Akira's head, like a mother would a child. "Everyone has a place, Akira. There is a set place for us in many places, and we do not to have to go through all or even any of them. But they are there, and there's one for you here, I can feel it deeprooted in you." He grinned, and fake shooed him away. "I've got work to do, little wolf. We must part ways, I think I sense a certain dara beckoning for you."

Akira nodded, his ears moving so he wouldn't flick the mouse-man in the face. He stood up, and let his tail shake off being sat on.

His ears perked up after hearing Aerin's last words, "Lineslieth is looking for me? I have to go find him!" A smile spread across his features, and he gave Aerin a hug.

"You're very nice... I'll come and visit you again!" He said, grinning up at him and turning around. His childishness comepletely taking over him, as he bolted out of the infirmary.

He had to go find Lines!

Cerceris entered the infirmary, peering at the flowers strewn about the walls. A cheerful place for sick people to get better, she mused to herself. The walls in here responded just as well as the ones outside, so she climbed up to get a better look at some of the blossoms. They were beautiful colours, and they smelled good too. She was surprised to find them soft to the touch as well, exploring them delicately with her fingers. She smiled to herself, quite content to toy with the flowers until someone came to deal with her "advancement".

Aerin came in from an inner room, and smiled when he swa the Aanida. "Hi," he said, rather timid. Despite being the medical aid around here, he'd never really come intact with an Aanida, except from stuff in his feed. He waved timidly.

"You're here for advancement, I think?" he asked, while sending her feed a slight ping to check. As a side note, he added "I'm glad you enjoy the flowers, out of everyone that's been here, you're the only one who's ever even bothered to give them a second look. I was starting to think they were added by my feed for aesthetic purposes!"

Cerceris turned as the mouse person made his presence known, releasing the flower she had been fidgeting with. She waved back at him with a smile, and made her way back down the wall to stand on her human feet again.

"The flowers are beautiful," she said, opting to respond to the second part of his comment first. "They smell pretty too." She blinked her lower eyes at the realization that the nurse was male, then dismissed her surprise. This man wears pretty clothes, she noted.

"I'm only partly here for advancement," she admitted. "I would have come even if I hadn't gotten the message." The smile dropped from her face, and all six of her brilliant blue eyes focused on the nurse. "My friend Clerise is not well. I found her outside our dorm a few hours ago. She wasn't... right." A frown settled on the Aanida's face as she recalled the pain Clerise had seemed to be in, and the twisted blackness that had replaced one of her arms. "She's sleeping now. She wouldn't let me take her to you here; she said she'd already been, and she couldn't do anything here and she didn't like it." The corners of her mouth flinched downward. "I want to know what happened to Clerise."

Aerin nodded sadly. "I've noticed. I went to fetch her, but RA said to leave her be, because her vitals were stabilized." When asked what happened to her, Aerin sighed. "You might want to sit down for this," he murmurs, and points to the benches and assorted chairs. He leaned up against a wall, and put his head in his hands.

With a deep breath, he looked up at Cerceris, the girl of yellow and gray and curious warmth, but right now she was still curious, but...colder. It confused Aerin, until she had mentioned Clerise. It clicked, the empath pieces in him tugging at his heart strings like the pain of Clerise's changed had ripped at Cerceris'.

"She....changed. Your change will be much calmer, a night spent in the Accelerated Convalesence Room and a day or two of mild drowsiness afterwards." He toyed with the hem of his skirt.

"Clerise..." he didn't know how to...really continue. The process still baffled him. "I guess I'll start over. RA used to be a...thing. A creature. It did really really bad things, to a whole lot of people."

He looked over at the blossoms, eyes unfocused. "RA was the first being ever on this planet, placed here because no one on the old earths could deal with it, or they didn't want to bother. They finally, after it had ravaged a portion of this planet, decided to keep its brain."

He shuddered. "I remember in my Nilyx History class, a good fifteen standards ago, where they showed a holo of it. It was like this RA, only eight feet tall and all dripping its noxious ooze of a blood and fangs and it screamed death at me so much that I fell over, passed out, from simply seeing it. I was also a wuss, but ...still."

He stood up, and started pacing. "They kept its brain. It was...odd. White, and divided into three sectors. They also kept a few pieces of its DNA. With that, and the actual personality files kept by its original captors, Zaucken and Doktor Grausam pieced this AI of a RA together. It was Zaucken's life work, and Grausam's stepping stone to his current project."

Aerin rubbed his arms.

"Now...RA has been 'in mal.' Its mechanics were falling apart, and it was losing control of itself. It...kind of tempted Clerise into visiting RA's room. Normally, RA would've just scolded her and called it good, and never put its room there again...But the alien RA was more in control. It attacked her, phasing into a physical form just long enough to inject her with a fierce form of its DNA."

Aerin rubbed his eyes, and looked weary and wilted. "RA's DNA...was not normal. It, under normal circumstances, would kill. But it fused with Clerise and no one but RA knows why. The real RA. For now, all we know is that Clerise is getting to be a LOT like RA, physically...and maybe mentally. She may revert to RA's speech patterns of a series of sounds made with the teeth and tongue, as well as actions that are more violent, and a hatred for authority and assistance."

He looked over at Cerceris, pained. "You have no idea how sorry I am."

Cerceris

Cerceris sat down obediently in one of the chairs, her arachnid legs draping over the back. The invitation meant that her question would be answered, so it would be pointless to decline.

The Aanida sat motionless as Aerin described RA's past, barely breathing, blinking only occasionally. This... was much different than what she had thought of RA. It puts on a good front, she thought numbly. I didn't think it was made from a mass killer at all. She vaguely wondered why Zaucken and Grausam would want to recreate such a terrifying being. She supposed that it might be some weird human/adult thing. Her wandering mind snapped back to Aerin's monologue as he mentioned Clerise.

So... the bad alien part of RA had infected Clerise with itself. That explained the sudden change in appearance. Cerceris found herself nodding at the accurate description of RA's native speech - it had been a language after all. The hatred for authority and assistance also brought her sudden outburst when she had mentioned the infirmary into perspective. The explanation, however, did nothing to soothe the worried knot that had worked its way into the Aanida's internal bits over the past several hours.

Clerise was turning into alien-RA, the vicious killer with mood swings to put the wildest manic depressive to shame.
At least the AI-RA had said her vitals were constant. That was good - it probably meant that she was sleeping and maybe healing like she was supposed to.

Cerceris fixed her gaze back on the mouse man, as it had fallen to the floor during the course of his explanation. He looked very sorry, which was not helping Clerise at all. "She did make clicking noises with her mouth," she offered uselessly. "And she cut herself on her teeth. They're sharp. And her... her black arm hurts her. How - can I make it stop?" She heaved a shaky sigh.

"I'll spend the night in the Accelerated... Convalescence Room," she stumbled over the words, not entirely sure of their meaning, "but I would like you to watch her... or... just make sure she's okay? Please."

"oh, honey, of course I will!" his large platform shoes made heavy sounds as he went to embrace her, and lightly kissed the top of her head.

"Astra is on his way right now give her some painkiller, along with Lineslieth so he can show her how to handle her new teeth. Her new mouth will soon become accustomed to her teeth though, don't worry much about that."

Aerin gestured to a blank wall that rippled slightly, before opening. "I'll make sure one of us stays with her overnight, along with your gift you left behind."

The Aanida relaxed visibly as Aerin hugged her, sagging into him slightly. Some of the weird smells that had been clinging to Clerise before were detectable on the nurse, soothing Cerceris almost as well as his words. Clerise would be looked after. Her Feed supplied biographies of Astra and Lineslieth, which she stored away for future reference. She blushed slightly at the mention of the white rabbit she had left in her place, having forgotten how complete the surveillance was. It seemed like a childish gesture, but she didn't regret it. The white rabbit was a figure of comfort to her, and Clerise needed it at least as much as the Aanida herself did.

At Aerin's prompting, Cerceris stepped into the place where the wall had been. It was dark and soothing, reminding her exactly how much rest she hadn't gotten during the past while. Her eyelids drooped, the four lower eyes closing completely. Sleep would be a wonderful thing, now that she knew Clerise would be well taken care of.

[ Aerin pov ]

Aerin was waiting for Akira, when he heard panicked shouts. He ran to the door and opened it, a boy who was bleeding a little due to his own wounds and screaming about 'getting it off.'

Aerin tugged him in, and tried to calm him, sending wave after wave of comfort to the shaking figure. "Hey! Hey, it's gonna be okay. It'll be okay. There's nothing on you dear, there's nothing on you..." Aerin attempted to rock the fidgeting boy, to little avail.

He sobbed, feeling something wrap itself around him, and when he opened his eyes, he was in the infirmary. Aerin was telling him that there was nothing on him, trying to comfort the boy.

"Where is it?" He asked, his voice shakey, "It was everywhere... all over me..." His eyes found Aerin finally, and he gripped onto the nurse as if he'd be blown away if he didn't. Another sob escaped and he was crying again.

"It was everywhere! She was just laying there! The walls were moving and the floor was reaching out!"

His grip tightened, face burried in Aerin's chest.

Aerin felt a deep dig into his chest, and brung the boy closer to him with each passing breath. He felt the pain and when he closed his eyes he could see flashes of red and could almost hear the screaming.

"That was a result of your bvond, little one. There was too much deity for your body and your mind, and instead of simply holding the deity you started having a hallucination." Aerin gently stroked Akira's hair with one hand, and scratched behind one of his ears with the other.

Aerin felt so horrible for this kid. Being bonded to a deathgod had to suck, especially once he started invading your mind. "I think we should put you in the ACR now, Akira. It'll sooth your thoughts, and make it go away." Aerin hazarded a guess that it was blood, but didn't want to say it, in case it set the poor thing off again.
