As soon as Kaya said the password, Kale bounded in. "Behave yourself, Kale. I'll be back soon." Kaya went off to her classes.

As Kaya walked inside, she noticed that the fire was roaring. She plopped onto the nearest chair, one very close to the fire, too, and Kale climbed onto her lap. "There is snow outside, Kale. Cold snow. White, like you. Sooooooo warm now." Kaya tried to keep her eyse open, but couldn't as she became more comfortable. Before she knew it, she was asleep, Kale just sitting there on her lap, patiently awaiting her awakening.

Piper squatted between the couch and the fire, wondering if she would ever be warm again. Hearing a rustle of movement from above her, she rose a little to see the occupants of the very comfortable-looking sofa. Here, she came nose to nose with a small, and apparently, if the observation that she had no bodily wounds as of yet, a very contented wolf pup. Lifting her chin, Piper could see the wolf's companion over a pair of thick, furry ears. Piper instantly recognized the girl as Kaya, who seemed to have a frown on her face wherever she went. But the slim face that was usually shadowed was now at rest, open in her dreams. Piper closed her eyes to reach out a thread of empathy and touch on what the sleeping figure was feeling, but Kaya's mind was closed to her in this state. Piper sighed, and went back to warming her hands on the fire.

As Kaya slowly opend her eyes, she noticed that there was something in the way of the fire's warmth and herself. When she was fully aware, she saw a girl warming her hands. "Hello," Kaya said, softly.

Piper turned her head to rest against the arm the sofa and smiled at the girl perched there. The only other noise in the large room was the crackling of the fire, making her hushed voice sound too loud, "Sleep well?"

"Yes. Except for this neck cramp." Kaya picked Kale up and stood. "Sorry if you wanted to sit here. I don't understand why I feel alseep here. Soooo comfy. And Warm." Kaya snapped out of her trance again. "Anyways, for proper introductions, my name is Kaya, and this little pup here is Kale. What's your name?" As suprising as it was, Kaya felt that she had made a new friend.

Piper blinked once, still seated on the rug, watching the other girl waver back and forth between wakefulness and her previous state of rest. She smiled as Kaya introduced herself and her toothy pup, then extended her own greeting. "Piper." She felt a small tendril of hope lift from her new, tentative friend and twist with her own. Gesturing to Kale, she asked, "so, where does one find such an odd companion?"

"I found him in the forest, near my house, a few weeks before I got my acceptance letter to here. He was abandoned, and I just instantly feel in love with him. Then again, I love creatures. My Da got really mad when I asked to bring him home. I have lots of animals," Kaya said. "I don't really get along with people. When I am with them, something always seems to go wrong and I lose my temper. But you, you seem different." Kaya smiled warmly. "Kale is a good pup, I trained him myself to behave. If you want, you can pet him. He wont bite you. Isn't that right, Kale?" Kaya petted Kale's head and handed him over to Piper.

"But you, you seem different," Piper ducked her head and blushed. Then, as a snout was pressed under her nose, she took the bundle of fur and carfully cradled it, standing as she did so. She let her fingers play with the thick ears, finding a comfort in the contact. She looked back at Kaya's face. "To be honest, you're different than I had imagined, as well." She smiled smally as she said this, offering no offence, just a standard truth between?friends?

"Yeah. I didn't really expect to make a friend here. Just here to study and become a great witch, study animals and find their hidden powers. Anyways, I have to go to class. If you want, you can play with Kale." Kaya started to ather her things. "I'll be back real soon. Thanks for listening to me, Piper. I'll be back soon, Kale." Kaya walked out of the room and towards her classes.

Kaya quietly walked into the room. She saw that Piper and Kale were playing in front of the fire still. "Well, did you two have fun? Man, those classes were simple. I've been thinking about going off to study some spells later, if you want to come along with me." Kaya plopped onto a chair.
