Shun had never played Mario Kart, let alone any N64 game. That wasn't going to stop him from trying to nail this. It took him a moment to get the rough controls down, and he was struggling early on.
It worked in his favor.
One blue shell later, and he rocketed up to finish in second.

"Hey nice," she commented with a thumbs up as they watched the ending ceremony. Chel then selected the flower cup as their next cup.
Unlike her usual chatty self, Chel was somehow a lot calmer playing Mario Kart than she'd ever been thus far with Shun. No airs put on, just some button pressing.

The fact that Chel wasn't chatting his ear out was pretty nice, actually. He didn't see too much of a draw of this game though.
This time around, he did absolutely horribly. Shun furrowed his brow as he managed to hit every single ******** truck in Toad's Turnpike.
"What the ********? Why are there kart racers on a highway in the first place? That is hardly legal."

Chel didn't say anything after that. By this point she was leaning on the side of the couch, tucking herself further and further into the corner.
She clicked the mushroom cup. By this point she'd been playing most of the day and wasn't really paying attention; the jumps were somewhat tricky and she fell off the edge too many times. One of the races she came in third but the others were so bad it dragged her down to 7th. So much for her first place talk.

With a huff, Shun waited for the next race to begin. This time around, he really aced it. He managed to stay in the lead for a good chunk of it, and eventually came out on top.
"I think that is enough of this nonsense," he stated flatly, setting the controller down before he turned towards Chel, who was now balled up in the corner of the couch.

She hadn't really moved from the spot, still staring at the screen with somewhat dead eyes.

Shun shook his head and folded his arms over his chest. He didn't say anything else, and instead just waited to see if Chel was going to finish that statement of hers.
