They both weren't SURE, but it sure felt like it. It could be. There was a possibility. They were still -
Adjusting his cuffs and moving his chair back, he held onto the back as he looked around. "No. No. You - privacy. I'm sure. It's. Yes, maybe not but. Still. I shouldn't. You two should." They shouldn't at all!
"I'll talk to you again. Call you. Can I call you? Can we meet sometime? I still have to go and - find a place. Yes. I should go. It's late."

Watching Melvin squirm was becoming a very addictive little pasttime and it was this which initially held Lawrence's attention as he shook his head. "We will." he said. "But not right now, right now it's just a little friendly pie-eating soiree and you are most welcome to attend, in fact I would rather insist that you did." He beamed at the other man.
Rodney got a more earnest look. "We absolutely can, I am sure I could construct a very pleasing date scenario to try."
Melvin got that keen stare again. "But right now, let's focus on our new friend."

"Oh! Yes, sure, I'll get my number...here, I'll put it on a napkin," Rodney said, pulling one out of the metal canister to write a number in careful cursive. "Are you staying close by? There are some very nice Bed and Breakfastes."

Melvin simply stared at Lawr for a moment, not at all wanting to be around a demon and angel conducting date plans or being addressed as a new friend regardless of what that meant for the progress of his current mission.
"But....I'm sure time together is valuable regardless of whether it's a date or not. I hate to be an interruption to something so....." Completely against the books, logic, and allegiance. "....personal."
While he pulled his attention at long last from Lawr, though keeping him in the corner of his eye like a gazelle watching a cheetah in the distance, he smiled at Rodney. The poor, poor, taken-down-the-wrong path, angel.
"Oh...yes. A motel a few blocks away. I hadn't had the time to make reservations anywhere else so it's a temporary situation at the moment."

"Don't worry about it" Lawr said, with an icy edge which seemed to imply that Melvin should probably worry about it anyway. "My time is always valuable so I spend it liberally."
He did quirk a brow at the angel's question though.
"Are you thinking about inviting him?" he asked, directly.

"Oh, what, to my house?" Rodney said awkwardly, put on the spot. "Well, of course, as I said, there are some very nice places here, I could recommend...but if you were in need of it, my door is always open to, um, family...."

While not sure what that tone fully meant, he knew he didn't like it at all. He did worry. He worried a lot. He was sent on tasks because he worried and because he worried, he worked hard to fix what he worried about. He was good at worrying, but Lawr was already pushing his comfortable boundaries of worry.
The little talk was lost on him until Rodney extended an offer to his home, and he was left surprised and struck with silence at first that he would even offer his home to him. It wasn't a gesture he felt was necessary or even predicted, and yet he was very touched Rodney was so kind to offer a intruding Angel his time and home. It would have wiped away any suspicious that this man might be aiding a nefarious demon if said demon wasn't RIGHT THERE.
Which brought the issue of taking that offer. It would place him directly in the line of sight of Lawr, yet it also placed Melvin right in the inner circle to watch him. The mission already had the clear risk of his life, but prevention was his main objection. Living with Rodney would do just that - though....
...he hadn't lived with anyone in a very, very, very long time. Even for a short stay.
"That....that is very touching. I don't exactly know what to say.".

Lawrence just beamed in a very satisfied sort of way. "Rodney is the very picture of kindness isn't he?" And Rodney got a bright enthusiastic look which said that he was absolutely the best person the demon had ever met.
Having Melvin around seemed like it would be pretty hilarious, and he was quite intent on making sure it actually happened.
"It would be nice to have even more people around, more the merrier!."
