The Seventeenth of April,
In the Year of Our Lord 1606,

Dear Journal,

Payment was far better than I had expected! In all honestly I had hoped for a few dubloons for the help, but did not join in the attempts to make gold! I may not be the easiest to get along with, but I am not a horrible person, nor as money hungry at that wretched elf Nicolas. I see the way he eyes everyone's money bags and it is disgusting! My only concern is finding a ship of my own and leaving this crew.

+ MERFOLK IN DIVVYTOWN!? +
Ryugen
Perhaps one of the few people near the bar with any sober intentions, save perhaps a few of the people that work there (and even this is likely in some degree of question.) Rabbit slips inside to look around, not sure how long he should stay, or even if this is a good place to start, given the chances of a very drunken soul remembering that they'd hired him when they woke up in a ditch with a hangover...but he does need to start SOMEWHERE, he needs to find work or keep moving.

Kieva
A mass of silver broke the surface of the ocean a ways off shore. Kailani ran her hands through her silver hair, slicking it back and away from her face as she tread the water. Her bright lime green eyes examined the ships nearby at port. She had just finished looking over each and every one of them. None seemed like exactly what she was looking for. Yes, they were beautiful to look at above the surface of the water. Yet when she would take a look at their under bellies, their fates were plain to see. Some may not make it through the next storm due to cracks and plugged holes.

Kailani glanced towards the beach, her clothes having been hidden among the rocks. Lucky for her no one had found them and took them for their own. An eerie smile slipped over her very paled and almost lifeless lips. Then, with a flick off her webbed feet she desended back into the waves of the sea. A flash of her nude form appeared over the surface before she disappeared again. Everything was peaceful in the ocean. There were no wars, no battles. It was just as it was.

The colorful fish scattered as she began to make her way back towards shore. Her small form seemed to glid through the water with ease. She had an inhuman quickness as she darted her and there, inspecting shells on the seafloor as well as random objects lost by pirates unwilling to dive after them.

The young mer-woman emerged. Her long silver hair fell over her breasts as she began to wlak out of the salted water and onto the sand beach. She was pale, small and in fit condition, which was required for swimming. She took in a breath of the dull air on land and coughed softly, gills expanding as she longed for the cool ocean oxygen. She continued towards her clothes though, knowing she needed to dress and find a place upon a ship.

Kieko
Before Aurora turned back towards the bar, her hazel eyes caught site of something incredibly peculiar. From the corner of her eyes, she thought she saw a mermaid swimming in the water. Quickly after, the young woman shook her head and then returned her gaze once more. To her surprise, she was not far from the truth! A mer-woman was making her way onto the beach, more nude than Aurora would have liked to see. A pink hue made it's way onto the bar-wenches cheeks as she laughed below her breath. This was certainly something she was not used to seeing everyday! Modesty quickly turned her cheek and she quickly scurried towards the bar.

Once she was inside, the quickly made herself comfortable at a corner table. She would be able to rest her head and watch others to her own liking. The bar counter was more familiar territory, but Aurora was unwilling to speak with others. The many glasses of alcohol she had consumed earlier had begun to take their toll on her mind and already she was developing a headache. Years as a bar hand had not gotten her used to the taste. She always believed it was due to her small size. As she sat, she noticed a very naive looking male entering the tavern. His expression was eager and around his throat was both a loose scarf and large scar. A wincing expression showed that Aurora found it to be slightly painful to look at. Another turned cheek brought her to the table top where she rested her head upon folded arms. Oh how tired she was.

Kieva
The young woman dressed quickly, strappng her belt around her middle to finish off her look. Her lime green eyes lifted to gaze at the busy human town over head. The bar was clearing visible, resting near a cliff overlooking the docks and the ocean. Kailani brushed her silver hued hair from her face and began to make her way towards the town, carefully stepping over the jagged rocks ont he shore she stood on, so as not to cut the thin membranes that made her feet webbed.

After making her way across the sand and finding the road she took her time as she advanced towards the bar. Music could be heard, as well as the loud chatter of the many people inside. A tight feeling in her gut told her to turn and flee into the ocean. Though, the mer-woman knew she had to follow through with what she had promised to do. These prejedice thoughts needed to be ended. With a soft sigh and a deep breath of the newly thick air Kailani pushed her webbed hand in front of her and opened the door to the bar.

It opened slowly. Things were much different on land than in the water. Yes, she knew this since she was very young, yet she hadn't experienced it firsthand. Underwater the door would have opened much more easily. Though, up on land it took more of the little strength she had to budge the large wooden door. She succeeded without to much difficulty and paused, the door closing behind her with a thud.

The air seemed even thicker inside the common place for human gathering. Perhaps it was because of the few pirates smoking in a solitary corner, far from the door. She felt as though she were sufficating. Her bright, lime green eyes scanned the bar, looking from man to woman, wondering whom would be the easiest to approuch. She didnt want to start any trouble among these humans. She was no were near her safety zone. Kailani took a step towards the center of the bar, hair falling in her face and down her shoulders, hiding the gills at the sides of her neck. She certainly felt very vulnerable.

Dragain
Fawkes nodded as Gabriella left, wondering where he should sleep. Sad to say, although he had earned some dubloons, he was still on a tight buget. Sighing quietly to himself, he glanced briefly at where Aurora was sitting, figuring that the female probably want time alone to herself.

Feeling bored, he called for another flask of beer, and was about to drink it when he though he saw a Merfolk in the bar. Just... Standing there like a normal human. He frowned, maybe spending too much time on board a ship has made him easy to become drunk? Putting down the beer, he stared curiously at the person in the middle of the bar. He knew only two things about this merfolk. One, it appears to be a female, and two, she was obviously asking for trouble. This bar, and the whole town, is filled with humans and they do not like anything other then humans walking around.

He paused, and took a sip of this beer. He wasn't one to really be discriminating, but the horrible tales he had heard about these mystical folk... If he tried to help, he might end up being a big fool. Who knows what that seemingly innocent looking Mer-woman would, and would, do to him? He took another look at the stranger, and accidently caught her eyes. He quickly looked away.

Ryugen
Well...that was...easy? Assuming this very...unusual looking (and smelling) woman wasn't completely delusional and about to make a even bigger fool out of him than people already must think he was. At least she seems to know how strongly she smells, he's smelled skunks and fox's marking their territories with less...pungent aromas.
"Er...." He clears his throat again, quietly, and nods. "Yes Miss. I will..." He says, slighyly uncertainly, wondering if they'll let him stay here until this meeting of the crew actually gathers...assuming it's a real ship and a real crew.
What kind of a name is the Dementia? Not exactly one to inspire great confidence in the sanity of it's captain and crew...But it's a job, and if it's real, the first one he's been offered in a while...and maybe...just maybe...she'll look a little less crazy when and if she gets back.
Still, he steals a curious second glance at the Mer-woman. He can't help it, even though it seems like other people here are starting to avert their eyes, he's never seen the like before, and it's facinating like a particularly spectacular accident is facinating. You know you shouldn't be standing there gawping, but you just can't help it.

Kieko
Though her eyes were slightly shut, Aurora could hear a strange sound of flapping foot steps. With wide eyes, she lifted her head carefully and noticed the same being she had seen from the window! Now that the woman was so close, it was clear that she was a mer-folk descent, though Aurora was not quite sure of how far back. It did not occur to the pirate lass that this being could be full mer-woman, as she had heard their small numbers and the prejudice towards them had required them to breed with whatever humans would give them a moment as to ensure their children an easier life style. Aurora always assumed it would be more difficult for the children though, with no real place to belong.

Sighing softly, she kept silent, noticing the woman looking about. She seemed to be looking for something.. someone? Aurora didn't want to be that someone and lowered her form to the table top, nearly pretending to sleep. Her hazel eyes, however, kept a close watch on the female. It was not so much a hatred for this stranger that Aurora felt, but more a slight fear or anxiety. Something about the pale skin and silvery hair seemed awkward to the pirate lass. This woman looked much like a walking corpse and it was not as easy on the eyes as Aurora would have liked.

Glancing around the bar for a way to leave her spot, her eyes catch onto a familiar purple-haired male she had grown so used to seeing at her side. Despite her hostile behavior and lack of affection, Aurora did enjoy Fawke's company. That was something, however, she would never admit.

Kieva
Kailani could feel their stares. They seemed to pierce into her sides, but mostly it was most noticeable in her back. The young woman ignored them all. They were not worthy of her temper. It was obvious at how uncomfortable she had made the male whom had enetered before her. He stood not far ahead when he spoke of needing a job. A women was quick to respond and told the nervous male of the ship currently out at sea. It seemed as though the second in command was gathering recruits soon in this very bar.

Kailani perked inwardly at this news, though remained silent. She was not one to wander up to a strange human and attempt to strike up a conversation. She was no fool. She could already hear the whispers, growls and awkward shuffles about the bar. Taking another soft breath she made her way towards the bar. She sat at the end, though not at the shadowed end. It was at the end where she was in plain sight of anyone whom entered or wished to glance in the bar's direction. She was not going to be hiding.

Her lime green eyes traveled up from the floor, having been looking at her webbed feet, towards the bar tender on the other side of the counter. She parted her pale lips, as if to speak, though shut them after a moment of thought and then sat down. Kailani didn't know of their beverages and didn't want to learn about them just yet. Poisons were known in the waters and she knew that a human could easily slip some to her with her little knowledge on their eating and drining habits. Her hair flowed down her back and over her shoulders like water would do over a large rock.

Her back was turned to the door and she blocked out the chatter of the pirates nearby. Instead she listened to the sounds of the ocean withi her mind. She had it memorized. Anyone would whom had lived in the sea all their life. Shutting her eyes she began to fiddle with her fingers, running her fingertips along the thin membrane webbing connecting her fingers. She could see why they would be anxious or wary. She was a sight to them. Yet to her, they were the odd looking ones.

Dragain
Fawkes placed his arms on the table, his left overlapping his right. He then laid his head on his arms, and sighed softly. It getting rather boring, with Aurora ignoring him quite a bit and with nothing interesting to do. He willed for the ship to return soon.

He stared at his third empty glass of beer, and wondered if he should get another one. Remembering his buget, Fawkes decided against it and turned his head to face the merfolk. 'She's still here?' He thought to himself as he gave her a confused look. The low voices and the obvious stares of the people in the bar, not to mention an atmosphere filled with tension... How could she not notice?

He turned away, wondering her purpose to invade human teritory. For research? For fun? To cause a commotion? He frowned at the last option, the least possible one - To end the silent war between the mystical folk and humans... There is no way that could happen, not by herself.

Kieva
Their stares. The young mer-woman shivered slightly as their eyes bore into her back. Did they not have anything else to look at? Was it such a crime to slip out of the ocean to walk on land with them? If not, then why was it justified for them to constantly sail her people's seas?

The mer-folk too had problems with the humans. Some even attacked ships when they came to close or into their territory.Yet. Kailani wanted it to end. How could these races hate each other and fight just because of physical differences. If she was not mistaken there were different types of humans. Some rich, some poor, those who dressed odddly and others not. Yet, they were not frowned upon. They were human.

With a slow movement the female tilted her head to look down the bar counter, lime green eyes glancing in Fawkes's direction through her straight silver hair. It would most certainly be an eerie sight. To a human she did resemble that of a walking corpse due to her lack of color pigment in her skin. For a long moment she simply watched him before shedding a small smile, hopefully breaking the tense atmosphere down just a tad. All she needed to do was start with one pirate. For she was only one of the mer-folk. They were so different, yet lived on the same planet. This silent war could not last forever.

Dragain
'Is she smiling at me?' Fawkes thought, his eyes filled with surprise as he looked in the merfolk's direction. 'This might be a trap,' He reasoned with himself, 'She's acting friendly to lure me into a trap of sorts... Yes, that must be it.'

However, he hoped it wasn't a trap. He had heard tales of savage merfolk attacking ships at sea, killing the many sailors on board or letting them drown in the vast ocean, with no land in sight. A shiver ran down his spine, and he forced himself to look at the merfolk. Maybe she came in peace? He didn't really want a fight to vreak out.

He smiled back, deciding that it was the best thing to do. Hopefully, nobody had seen that smile or who knows what could happen... He glanced around, and realised that almost everyone in the bar had their eyes on the merfolk.

Ryugen
Rabbit clears his throat roughly, tearing his eyes away from the startling mer-woman as she goes to sit down...realizing that if she weren't the object of so much attention, he'd probably look very very foolish, standing here like a grand old tree in rough clothing. The newest thing he wears is the green sash around his waist, and that stands out a bit against the rest of the outfit because of something in the weave that...glitters. A Very drunk woman had dropped it on him in passing, mumbling something about looking like a proper pirate...but he hadn't listened to much of the rest of the conversation, since he'd been keen to unlace himself from her grasp before her very irritable looking companion came back with their drinks and discovered her clinging like an leech to another man, already too broke to afford a medic, he really hadn't been keen on getting a bludgeoning over an overatentive...lady of the night. Or...he assumed that was her profession. He honestly didn't know, and didn't want to think about it much more than he had to.
He had other things to think about besides, like finding a place to sit....at least he didn't feel totaly alone in being dumb struck by the mer woman, everyone else seemed to be staring at her too...maybe that was the entire idea behind why she'd come in here. Some women liked to be the object of attention....maybe that applied to mer-women too...he considers, seeking a quiet seat in an empty spot in the room and trying to look uninteresting.

Kieva
Kailani nodded at Fawkes as he returned the smile. She could tell it was an awkward and uncertain one. But it was a smile none the less. She then averted her gaze, not wanting to cause any of the humans to much discomfort with her glances. She looked to her pale hands again, rubbing the webbing between her fingers to occupy herself once more.

She was certainly out of place. She definatley wanted to return to the ocean, for the air in the bar was thick and she was having some trouble breathing it. Taking a small breath she then looked to the bartender and motioned him over with a small motion of a finger. As he approuched she leaned towards him, looking up at him with her bright eerie eyes.

" A water, please." She spoke, her voice cool and sounding slightly as if it were bubbled. As if she were speaking underwater, yet it was more normal due to her breathing te air above the water. She went silent again, not very eager to speak. Though she knew she would need to in order to find a job. Perhaps the male she had smiled to would know. Her water arrived and she gave a small sigh of relief as she took up the large mug and tipped the cool liquid into her mouth. It wasnt salted as she was used to, but pure and satisfying.

Setting down the mug she then looked to Fawkes again. " Excuse me if I make you nervous, " She began, which was ironic. For she was most likely the most unnerved in the tavern. " but would you happen to know where I may be able to find a hiring ship?" Her aquatic voice bubbled softly as she whispered to him.

Dragain
Fawkes gave a silent sigh of relief when the merfolk had looked away, thinking that nothing else was going to happen. Why must it be him? He looked at Aurora, hoping that she didn't notice. When he heard a voice directed at him, the male was shocked to see that the mer-woman was addressing him.

'Don't freak out, don't freak out, don't freak out...' Fawkes' mind kept repeating the words over and over again in his head, 'Keep cool, don't freak out, don't freak out...'

Staring at her, Fawkes was at a lost for words. He had tried opening his mouth, but no words came out, only a soft "Er...". He knew that the Dementia was looking for crew members, but surely inviting her up the ship would be a foolish action? What if this was only a trick to an ambush? What if she really is peaceful? Then she would come in useful on board the ship. He frowned, and made his decision.

"Erm... I... Uh..." Fawkes begun, stammering as he tried to keep calm. "Uh... That is, the ship I'm on, the Dementia, is hiring.... Uh... It's not in port at the moment though, so... I think you better approach the... Uh, more high ranking staff to ask if you can actually be a crew on the ship." He paused, and spoke again, "Look for a female, Gabriella. She's... Looking for people to hire."

He continued as an after thought, "Please don't say I recommanded you." He knew it sounded mean, but one can never be too careful. After finishing his litle chat, he felt as if a heavy weight had been lifted off his shoulders. The male stared at the empty cup, fearing that his conversation might not have been the best idea afterall...

Kieko
Aurora ducked down into her seat when she noticed the merwoman growing closer. To her pleasure, the woman did not near any closer than would make her truly uncomfortable and when she felt safe once again, she lifted her form and watched the woman with a close eye. The merwoman did not seem anything like the stories she remembered her nana telling her before. Supposedly the merfolk of the sea lured pirates and island natives into the ocean and with a horrid kiss, drowned them beneath the waves. They were supposed to be ruthless and evil, but what Aurora could tell, this woman seemed nearly as frightened as she was. Even with her slight compassion, she couldn't bring herself to speak with the gilled woman.

When the strange woman began to look towards Fawkes, Aurora's hand clenched and she suddenly feared for the male's life. The bar was yards away from the ocean's edge and it would take a great deal of boldness for the merwoman to attempt dragging a grown man into the water, but still Aurora was on the edge of her seat and her heart was racing. As if her wildest nightmere was playing before her, the woman began to speak and though there were stories of the voices of the merwoman, Aurora was not even slightly prepared.

Suddenly, she felt her stomach turn and as she stared at the supposedly bubbling corpe before her, she nearly vomited. A dainty hand quickly covered her mouth and her eyes shut slightly to release the horrid feeling from the pit of her stomach. There was something incredibly uncomfortable about this woman, despite the stories she had been told. Through her sickness, the auburn haired female heard nothig of the merwoman's joining their ship. Had she heard, there would have been a much more disgusting scene to clean up after.

Ryugen
Rabbit tenses as Gabriella walks in, though at first he couldn't have told you why. The woman, although she wears considerably less than some here, doesn't radiate the same air as the woman with the green scarf...not by a long shot. In spite of her clothing, something about her, something emphasized by the to the point, fearless way with which she deals with the Mer-woman...reminds him of seeing a predator in the woods. Beautiful, graceful....and dangerous. Of course, on retrospect, he'd be surprised if there were very many people in the room that weren't dangerous, he chastizes himself inwardly, forcing himself to relax again. It's not as though he's completely inept...it's just that...
It's just that you've been jumping at shadows since you felt that rope. Rabbit suits you as a name, fool... He chastises himself inwardly.

Dragain
Fawkes looked in the general direction of Aurora. He gave a soft sigh of relief upon realising that she most probably did not heard the conversation between him and the merfolk. In fact, the woman looked rather... Uncomfortable.

He was in fact, still in shock that the first mate was possibly considering asking her to join the ship's crew. There would not be merry days ahead...

He lifted his head, a faint smile on his lips when the merfolk had stood up. He heard her thanks, but did not reply. Instead, after she was truely out of sight, he hopped down from his chair and approached Aurora. Somehow, he seeked comfort, and she was the only one who could provide him with that.

"Would you mind me taking a seat?" He asked with a hopeful look.

Kieko
Looking both distressed as well as uncomfortable, the woman quickly nodded and tried to fix her hair and wipe her lip. Her skin color had gone slightly pale and it was clear that more than just the merwoman had made her feel this way. There was no proof any longer, but what Aurora had drank at the bar earlier was sending her entire body into a strange, uncomfortable feeling. Her heard felt life and her cheeks were completely flushed. Silently, she prayed her actions hadn't enticed the bartender into slipping in a little extra.

Turning her head to look to Fawkes finally, she smiled the best she could and lifted a weak hand to wave. With little food in her stomach, a complete lack of sleep the night before and a belly full of rum and other hard liquirs, it was no surprise that the petite woman was so groggy. "I apologise about.." She pressed fingers against her mouth once again and then rested her head against the table. If anyone needed comforting it was probably Aurora, though she wouldn't accept it from anyone anyhow.

When a higher ranked officer approached the table, Aurora couldn't help but flinch. Would she be chastised for her poor state and awful pirate-ness? Keeping her head low, she remained quiet and allowed Fawkes to do the speaking.

The Thirtieth of April,
In the Year of Our Lord 1606,

Dear Journal,

While in th' usual pub I visit, I notice something from outside the window and I can't believe my eyes! After a second glance, it was indeed what I had thought it was originally! A merwoman is making her way from the ocean and onto land and happens to walk into the same ba' i'm residing in!

I had a few drinks, but not enough to make me sick, but the site of her was something else! The stories were all just as accurate as I could have imagined! She was as pale as a corpse and her hair and eyes were just as eerie! Simply describing 'er is giving me goosebumps as I write!

The Tenth of May,
In the Year of Our Lord 1606,

Dear Journal,

A few drinks too many, it seems. I can't seem to shake this feeling off of me, though I know that a great deal o' this stomach trouble is due to the arrival of the mer-lass! I am wondering now if merfolk are able to cast spells. Could she have poisoned me like a blasted puffer? I'd assume it's not likely or else there'd be quite a few more of the' on shore...

A new man has joined our crew, or at least has the intentions to. His name is Rabbit and I was skeptical of him at first, but he seems like a wonderful lad. Much like Fawkes, I worry. Around his neck is an awful scar.. I can only imagine how he came to get it.

+ APPROACHED BY THE MERWOMAN +
Meemo
Kailani turned around in her stool, facing the lot of the pirates whom occupied the bar. She would rather them stare at her face than at her back, if they were staring at all. Her lime green eyes scanned the people and faces, straying over the group consisting of a man with a scarred throat, another with purple hair and a young woman looking fairly ill.

The mer-woman drank her water again, lowering her gaze as she slipped from her stool to stand on the wooden floor. Her webbed feet slapped the floor lightly and she took a deep breath of the thick air. She would have to speak with others sooner or later. Whether she wanted to or not it had to be done. With a slow movement the woman began to make her way towards the small table the other occupied.

She recognized Fawkes sitting among them and hoped that they were all a part of the Dementia. Perhaps he would be a bit more at ease once he knrew she was a part of his crew. ough luck. That was wishful thinking, and Kailani knew it. They wouldn't accept her so quickly.

Kailani paused a few feet from their table, expression unreadable. " Would any of you happen to be a part of the Dementia?" Her aquatic voice bubbled in their direction.

[...[Heartless Dream]...]
Jesabelle was very, very drunk. Her vision was fuzzy, and she was dribbling. She knew she must be a sight. Fumbling around, she recognized the mermaid.

Her lack of coordination (and thought) led her to bump into many other of the drunk sailors. She stumbled into the mermaid, grabbing a lock of silver hair.

"Pleeth helth me..." she mumbled before dropping onto the floor.

Dragain
"You're not disturbing anything." Fawkes addressed Rabbit's question with a laugh, and turned to Aurora with a worried expression. "You need anything? You really don't look- " Before he could say 'well' to finish his sentence, the merfolk's voice interrupted him.

Despite himself, the male gave a soft gasp, and turned his head to face her. He couldn't help feel disgusted at her appearance, and even a little doubtful of what her motives were for speaking to them... Even a little fear as well, although it's not clearly shown on his face.

"All of us are," He replied, his voice low as he gave a brief and quick nod. "Pending members and existing members of Dementia..."

Ryugen
Aurora's reasurance earns a faint smile from Rabbit, who relaxes slightly again. "Good..." He adds, with a faint nod, before startling slightly again at the sound of the Mer-womans curiously bubbly voice.
The Dementia, that was the name of the ship that was hiring, the one where he had no particular idea who he was supposed to talk to about actually being hired...
Not that howling banshee that had stormed through earlier he hopes. PLease let it not be her. He's considering how best to answer the question when the very very drunk woman stumbles away from the bar and siezes the mer-womans strange hair, requests aid, and then colapses into a sodden heap.
He clears his throat thoughtfuly at this, considering how best to handle the unconsious woman as he forces an answer to the mer-woman. Better to answer than to upset her...who knows what she might do then.
"Trying to be..." He answers, his own voice rough. "If they'll hire me." And adds, glacing around. "Should someone...er..." He gestures at Jesabelle uncertainly.

Kieko
Just as the auburn haired woman had begun to act slightly better, the pale aquatic woman approached their table. She noticed an expression so blank, it was completely uncomprehendable and although she did not wish to look at Kailani, she could not help but feel drawn in. Her voice was both eerie and completely unique, nothing Aurora had ever heard in her past. The bubbles had sounded so disgusting before, but now she noticed they only sounded incredibly odd the first couple of words.

After both watching and listening for a few moments, she tore her gaze away and leaned back in her chair. She did not wish to lean back onto the table top and give herself a much weaker impression. After all, she was a pirate of the Dementia and wished to impress the captain as quickly as possible. Aurora was used to a position of some power and a greater deal of respect than she had been recieving. With no intentions of ever becoming a captain, herself, she settled for one step above most of the crew. A faint smile appeared on her face as she thought silently to herself.

Turning her gaze to Rabbit, she returned a smile, until the sudden bizarre expressions from the crew members around her suggested something odd was going on. With a c**k of her brow, she noticed the fallen woman and rolled her eyes. Even in her own sickness, she had behaved with more dignity than that. Aurora could not help but mumble quietly to herself at the woman's lack of respect for herself.

Meemo
Fawkes had replied rather quickly to Kailani , stating that all of the pirates seated at the table truly were a part of the Dementia's crew. The woman's features lightened slghtly, a small smile almost visible. Tough out of no where it seemed she was attacked. Turning to view the person whom had nearly pulled a chunk of hair from her head she glared about. Only after a moment she glanced downwards at the woman whom wa snow a heap on the floor. Clearly she was drunk. Kalani, though, was uncertain of how to help the female.

Bending over she crouched near Jesabelle, smoothing her air and rubbing the sore spot on her head now. Her lime green eyes rested on the woman's drunken form and she held out her webbed hand to the other. " Come, let's get you seated. " She spoke softly, now leaving the ones she had approached alone. She expected they had not wanted her company in the first place, due to the expressions they had given her.

With slght difficulty she struggled to help the woman to her feet and towards a small empty booth. She knew the ailments of a drunken person and knew that time healed it best. Yet bread and water served well also. She set her own water down in front of Jesabelle and tapped the brim of it. " Water will do you well. " She commented as she sat across from the other.

The Twelvth of May,
In the Year of Our Lord 1606,

Dear Journal,

It is so difficult for me to comprehend wha' on earth the merwoman is doing in the bar surrounded by enemies. For all of the awful stories I have heard of them, she does not seem so awful. My stomach is even settling somewhat in her presense, though I am not sure if that is because I am more comfortable, o' because I am in the presense of two men. Not that they are any more of fighters than myself!

Another character has made herself present in the bar and it is not a surprise that I have not taken a fancy to her. Jessbelle, I believe I overheard her name. Another awful drunk who can't hold her liquir!

+ THE DRUNKEN SURGEON +
[...[Heartless Dream]...]
Jesabelle opened her eyes a peep, shutting them immediately at the light. How long had she been down? Had she even passed out? She opened her eyes again, and noticed the mer-woman leaning over her slightly. She suddenly felt a tiny streak of fear. Would there be any witnesses if she was killed? She had heard the stories.

But the mer-woman did not appear to be dangerous. She was beckoning towards a glass of water, sayig something about how it would be good for her. Jesabelle suddenly felt parched with thirst and sipped the water greedily. No more vodka. Ever. She thought, wincing at the throbbing pain in her head.

She turned towards the mer-woman.

"I'm sorry, it isn't right for me to get drunk. But being a pending surgeon on the Dementia probably doesn't pay in rum." Or vodka, she thought wistfully.

Kieko
Aurora watched as the sea woman helped the idiotic Jesabelle up. With a faint smile, she realised how many of the stories did not portray the mer-people as they actually seemed. Though Aurora would not ignore the warnings she had felt through every moment in the strange, pale woman's presense, she could not help but notice that Kailani was far more kind than any other at the table around her. How many stares and crude comments had the woman recieved since she entered the bar? With a shake of her head, Aurora dispersed the thoughts from her mind and understood that as easily as Kailani could come off sincerely, it could have also been a plan to harm them once she was on the ship.

When she noticed the drunk had opened her eyes once again, Aurora remained where she was, not bothering to aid the woman like Kailani had. Aurora had often felt the pang of alcohol get the better of her, but she would never act as helpless as this stranger before them. In a way, Aurora felt that Jesabelle had played the situation to gain the attention of their group. She silently hoped Fawkes found it just as bothersome as she did. And thinking of the male, Aurora's yellow-green eyes glanced in his direction with a faint smile.

When she had felt slightly more relaxed, the word "surgeon" reached her delicate ears. This drunkard was expected to aid the crew if they were wounded!? Aurora returned her head to the table and figured if she ever recieved her own bruise or wound, she'd care for it herself.

Ryugen
"Surgeon?" Rabbit notes, then clears his throat sharply, bothered by the unpleasent sound (and for that matter feel) of his own voice. She couldn't possibly be the...good god, the first skirmish they got into they were going to loose half the crew...He put a hand to his throat in horror, feeling the scar there and trying to think what might have happened if she'd been the one trying to help him recover, instead of his family.
He watches the mer-woman and the surgeon with open bafflement and awe, and maybe a little fear, though this time around it's directed at the pending surgeon.

Dragain
Fawkes was not a happy pirate when it came to the part about her being the surgeon - He fears more then ever for his fragile life now. Nonetheless, there must be a reason for making her the surgeon. Maybe she looks more impressive sober rather then dead drunk like now. Turning to look at Rabbit and Aurora, he had a feeling they felt the same way about the ship's choice of surgeon.

Turning to the mer-woman, he looked as she helped the woman up and can't help feeling guilty. There he was thinking how cruel and heartless merfolk can be, and then she's the only one helping the drunk female up. Maybe she's not going to be that bad after all... Or it might just be a trick to make her seem trustworthy.

"By the way... What's your name?" He asked the merfolk quietly. If she's going to be a fellow crew member, might as well know her name.

Ryugen
Rabbit clears his throat again and looks away, still nervous of the mer-woman, and the surgeon besides, still, it makes him feel twice the fool that Fawkes is bold enough to ask the mer-woman her name, though given the reputation of the creatures, he's not sure that this is far from asking the headsman his name, or what his favorate meal is.
"There's a bolder man than I..." He quips, quietly, still eyeing the far wall for the time being.

Kieko
Aurora looks over to Rabbit and smiles. The man was far more intelligent than she gave him credit for. The more time she spent in his company, the more of him she became. Although the woman aimed to keep herself hidden from everyone emotionally, she could not help but grow attached. Looking to Rabbit and nodding, she gave a weary expression, "Fawkes is too kind for his own good..." Her voice trailed off and her beautiful yellow eyes had wandered in the purple-haired males direction. The tone of her voice had become soft, much more different than she usually spoke.

Sighing and suddenly shaking her head as if to rid herself from the headache, she let out a short laugh. A silent prayer had kept her hoping Rabbit did not notice her line of vision. It would cause a great problem to find that she had developed an affectionate attachment to someone, especially someone of her own crew.

The Twentifirst of May,
In the Year of Our Lord 1606,

Dear Journal,

As if it were our luck, Jesabelle, the drunken fool is expected to be our surgeon! We are to rely on a blasted idiot to mend our wounds? The woman can barely keep herself onto her feet and ease her headache, how is she expected to sew or bandage us when we are in pain? Blah!

I believe Nicolas Morgan may have the right idea of leaving the ship when he is able. I can't say that i'll be heading off wi' him, but I believe my dubloons will have to be saved if I wish to keep myself in good health. I am beginning to doubt that leaving my home was such a good idea... but with nothing keeping me there, what did I have to lose other than m' own life?

+ DIVVYTOWN IS UNDER ATTACK +
JohnnyBones

Five ships can be seen in the horizon, it's a normal sight in a place like Divvytown, but something is wrong. The ships are firing their cannons, the blasts can be heard throughout Divvytown. When one docked ship begins to sink, everyone realizes...

Divvytown is under attack!

Ryugen
The first rumbleing explosing from the cannons that catches his ears, he puts off, briefly to Thunder, which only serves to set him frowning in puzzlement, because when he walked in, the sky was clear. Granted he'd heard storms at sea could come up quickly, but this quickly?
The next roar makes him sit up more sharply, perhaps the first time he's looked really UP since he's walked in, as the cannon blast sounds more clearly, not so unlike thunder still the way it makes it sound as though someone were tearing the air like cloth. The shriek of cannon balls as the cannon fire comes closer like the sound of some Sea-Titan whistling shrilly as they tear open the air for rags. The crack and explosion of an unseen ship outside the bar taking the first ship confirms that he's not imagining the gunfire, or the ships as a result of sitting here, listening to Fawkes talk to The Mer-Woman, or any other sort of thing that might be affecting his perceptions.
He jerks in his seat, like a startled animal not sure where, and if, it should bolt, glancing wide eyed to the others.
"Was that....?"

Gabriella watches the ship sink, "Great, either we have a set of fooish pirates attacking Divvytown, or we have that damned English Navy trying to take out one of the few pirate ports left." She hoped it wasn't the Navy, all the ports that were attacked by the Navy were reduced to rubble, and all the people that were there ended up dead, or in one of their prisons.

Gabriella looks down to her dagger, "This wont do much good against the Navy if it is them..." One man heard her speak of the navy and he ran away in terror. After shaking a confused look off her face, she runs to the small weapons shop and finds out it was already abandoned, "Looks like I have to borrow a weapon," She looks at the swords on the walls and grabs one. The sword was light and sharp, she swings it a few times then slides it into her belt for later use.

After leaving the abandoned shop, she runs past the bar, trying to get as far away as possible. She noticed that the crew was still in the bar, so she runs in for a moment, "Something is attacking Divvytown, you better grab your weapons and head for the hills!" With that Gabriella ran out the door.

Gabriella loved to fight, but if it was the Navy, fighting would only delay their downfall. More cannon fire could be heard as other ships began to sink, one cannonball even hit the frigate they sold, small chunks of wood flew through the air when the cannonball smashed into the ship. The frigate began to sink.

With her head returned to the table top, Aurora ignored the conversation going on between Fawkes and Kailani. The merwoman had done nothing as of yet to gain her complete distrust so she would remain indifferent. The conversation, however, did have her slightly uncomfortable and she felt her cheeks warm become red with slight jealousy. An embarassed sigh had her thinking of an excuse. The alcohol, she had decided in case anyone would ask. By the look on their faces and how they had continued speaking, Aurora assumed they wouldn't ask.

Aurora listened carefully to what Rabbit said, surprised that he had spoken to her again. The focus on the bar for the past hour had seemed to be pretty set on the merwoman and Aurora was quickly losing interest. With an understanding nod, she smiled faintly, "That's very true.." As though she almost questioned herself, she also added, "I only hope none of our own crew mates take advantage of him.. I find it difficult to think he'd know any better of it.."

After her words were spoken, the sound of canons could be heard from the distance and her head shot up, wearing a very alert expression, "What th' bloody hell!?" Jumping onto her feet and heading towards the window, the young woman grimaced somewhat frightened. From what she could tell there were five ships in the distance and at a time, two or more were firing canons at.. Divvytown! With uncertainty in her mind, she turned back to her crew members and then spoke, "What is it that we can do!? We're barely half a crew!" Her words were somewhat naive because as pirates they would do all they could at the possible thought of treasure, especially from five ships. Having never been in a battle herself, Aurora was somewhat shaken.

Dragain
Fawkes heard the blast of the cannons, and his immediate reaction was to turn to look out the window. He saw five ships, some firing at Divvytown. He could feel the vibrations from the cannons being fired, and wondered which poor soul was caught in that blast.

Looking up at Aurora, the male tried to remain calm although it was difficult because of the loud noises from outside. If they stayed in the bar, it would mean a lower risk of being hit than when running outside with shelter. But staying in also means that if the bar is hit, everyone would be trapped in with no way out... Frowning, he bit his lower lip.

"I think..." He started, when he heard Gabriella's yell. Run for the hills? Was she going to fight five ships alone? But that's insane, and virtually impossible!

"... I think that if we were to fight, there is a chance of us being killed by a cannonball or someone aboard those ships... If we run, we might get hit anyway. That is, unless we run far enough." He paused, thinking it through. "Somehow, we need to hold out till the Dementia comes back. Then we'll have more of a chance to win... So? What do you guys think? Run or fight?"

He had always been rather indecisive. This time, however, it was a life and death situation which made things worse for the pirate. Somehow, he don't want his career to end early.

Kieko
Aurora was glad to see Fawkes had turned his attention back to her and she smiled faintly when she saw him biting his lip. Being a nervous female of a pirate ship was not the best quality and it almost seemed comforting to see the man before her somewhat nervous as well. She would have much preferred some sort of bravery to sooth and relax her, but she could not expect that from Fawkes, being as he seemed so shy.

Only when Fawkes brought up running did what Gabriella say hit her. She had learned to block out the wenches speech, unless she was feeling really up to listening. Run for the hills? She wondered, completely baffled by the second in command's lack of courage. If they did not fight, all of Divvytown would be both destroyed and completely stolen away! If the bands of pirates could frighten away everyone, what would stop them from taking everything not nailed to the ground!?

Aurora reached down towards her throwing knives hidden in her boots and grinned boldly to cover up any internal fears, "We must fight! This city can't go down without us putting up a fight! Have all unarmed women and children flee as far as possible! We want to keep any bistanders unharmed!" Aurora was barkings orders now, ensuring the safety of anyone who did not wish to participate's safety. When she spoke, a few men fled the bar to, what she assumed, tell their wives and children to leave. A few left with beer bottles and she hoped they might remain out of the battle.

After she had spoken, she turned to her crew, "It would be suicide to run in the midst of battle without a plan, so what do you boys think?" Her words were directed towards both Rabbit and Fawkes, though she also looked to Kailani. Quietly she spoke, "We can use all the help we can get..."

Caitlyn Hellstorm
Alexandra swiftly turns around as one cannonball hit one building nearby and her golden green eyes narrows to slits when she sees 5 battle ships approaching. She automatically sprints toward the dockside with her red hair flying behind her, she immediately pulls out small dagger that was strapped to her thigh while she spins around while other cannonball hits the ground in front of her. "OH SH...!!" She yelps as she stumbles backward from the impact.

She peels her upper lip back in silent snarl at offending ship that is blasting the cannonballs in her general direction. "If you want to play that game.. fine with me" She mumbles to herself as she leapt over small crater made by cannonball and contiunes sprinting toward the dockside. She glances at indecsive people. "FOOLS!! They are attacking our homes!! ATTACK THEM!!" She screams at Aurora, Fawkes, Gabriella while sprinting toward the water.
