The rain washed streets beneath the Parisian hotel glimmered in the honey colored glow of countless lamplights. The moon sat on her silken black sky, waning in her stages as a malicious smile over the tops of antiquated buildings. The night was as quiet as it could be in Paris, and the floor to ceiling glass of the window felt chilly against the woman’s hand. Cold. Hadn’t that feeling been resonating with her recently? A year had gone by and only now was she beginning to lose the numb sensation that plagued her constantly despite every successful occurrence since she’s received the grim news. To the prying eye, she was in full control of her emotions; she masked her sorrow with fitted black fabrics and steely-eyed gazes, but the first couple of days had been the hardest for her. Mourning was rarely something an assassin could do, but she made the time, made her grief known. No one dared to question her on that; they accepted her own style of lamentation and didn’t question when her clothing, which usually varied in color, all returned to simple shades of black.

“Lady Talia,” a man’s voice called out to her, and she turned then to rest her eyes on where he sat at the paper littered conference table. Removing the cellphone away from his face, he rose to his feet and started gathering up the sorted papers, tucking them safely into the open briefcase beside him. “The broker was a success. Your holding company has reacquired—“

“All former shares that we had lost hold of when the League fell from power. Yes, I understand that,” Talia continued, stepping away from the window and moving towards the table just as the man finished packing up. “How long will we be able to keep this a secret from my father?” she questioned, crossing her arms over her chest. The man had briefly frowned, but carefully he concealed it. “That all depends on if he starts looking into the business and financial aspects of it all. These aren’t dirty dealings; they can be traced back to you. The holding company is, however, signed in your name. Even if he did find out about it, you hold the power to it. If you decided to cut ties with the companies in it again then—“

“Then the League would once more lose the vast majority of its funding,” Talia supplied. She fell silent for a moment in her contemplations. “I see… Thank you once more for your services, monsieur Ancar. I look forward to our next discussion, but for now, I have other business to attend to.” A crimson smile on her part, a bow on his, and the meeting was adjourned.

Talia took a seat on the chaise lounge beside the fireplace, basking in the warmth it provided on so cold a night. She didn’t turn her head when the main door to the room once again opened. The man that entered was well groomed and had a sure fire smirk plastered on his face as he approached where she was stationed, keeping a good distance between them when he at last stopped. “Lady Talia,” he greeted her with a bow. He was one of her many brokers, and one of her best, at that. “Are my services needed?” he questioned as he straightened up, clasping his hands behind his back.

“Yes, they are. Tell me, how much longer until we can turn our attention to Wayne Enterprises?” Her inquiry brought a wider smirk to his face. “You need only say the word,” he confessed.
          Talia smiled. “Do it then.”

Are you a fan of the series, are you familiar with this character?
Yep, through what I've seen of her character in the animated series/movies
and within the comic books.
Do you promise to be as active as possible if we grant you this privilege?
Of course. I have mod duties and Robin to take care of. c:

* [ I'll say this upfront right now to clear the air of this, but I am not at all a fan of Grant Morrison's portrayal of Talia. Tons of fans aren't, and while I didn't understand why at first, now I do and I completely get it. He took years of character development and ruined it because he simply couldn't remember nor bother to research how Damian's conception actually went and must have some deep rooted hatred towards Talia for some reason to write her so monstrously. However, much to be chagrin, I am grateful that he somewhat made Damian who he is and thus made him canon by default.

But while I cannot refute all that's he's done to her that other writers have tried to fix (only to have screwed up once again by Morrison), I will not play her as a child murderer nor mad scientist since that was never her intended character, but instead a character only portrayed when Morrison wrote her. ] *

[General Information]

Name: Talia al Ghul
Nicknames: None
Titles: The Daughter of the Demon
Age: Roughly 34 due to her longevity
Birthday: December 1st
Star Sign: Sagittarius
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Moral Alignment: Evil

[Personal Information]
Occupation: Assassin, businesswoman, and mother.
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Likes: A luxurious lifestyle, her beloved, her son, the clone of her son, being independent, maintaining her position as one step ahead of others, and, lastly, victory.
Dreams: Her main dream isn't attainable and Talia recognizes this, yet she still wishes she could find Bruce and Damian, wherever they have been spirited away to. She wants some closure to this mystery, though part of her knows that they must be deceased. A dream that is within her grasp, however, is to raise Damian's clone in his stead and have him inherit both family fortunes and secrets when he comes of age.
Dislikes: Deceit, any sort of harm coming to her child, being manipulated, and anyone standing in the way of her interests.
Fears: Losing what is arguably Damian's replacement is always a fear she bears since whatever unknown force that caused Bruce and the original Damian to vanish is still unknown to her.
Darkest Secret: She does not regret leaving the original Damian in his father's care as much as she let's on. She was actually quite satisfied with how he was progressing under his father's guidance, despite early spats and current, somewhat faux-displeasure.
Favourite Food: As per her training, she lacks a favorite food since it should only be seen as nourishment.
Favourite Drink: It should be anything due to the reason above, but she has a very slight affinity for Cabernet Sauvignon.
Least Favourite Food: Nothing.
Least Favourite Drink: Nothing.
Loyalties: Herself, (sometimes) the great House of al Ghul, her son, and (sometimes) the League of Assassins.
Intelligence Level: Talia is more than just a pretty face, and she'll gladly correct that fact should someone be foolish enough to assume otherwise. She boasts a genius level intellect, as expected of her. Perfection is something she strives for, so why would she stop at herself?
Dominant Hand: Right handed, but she's well trained to use both hands for combat purposes.
Strengths: Talia is highly intelligent, resourceful, and skilled. She is considered a weapons master and has many relations in high places, as well as many ears and eyes throughout the world to gather information for her.
Weaknesses: She's human and, as such, is not impervious to injuries.
Bruce Wayne and their son had once been another weakness for her's considering how she cared so passionately for him, but now only the clone of Damian is, seeing as he is still very young and she loves him immensely. She would go so far as to risk her own life to keep the five year old heir apparent alive.

Cherished Items:

Philosophical / Social Viewpoint:
Though not nearly to the extent of her father, Talia somewhat shares his view of desiring a perfect world and going to any means to attain it. She knows that the House of al Ghul was meant for great things, though she would rather pursue it in her own way rather than his.

Religious Viewpoint:
Talia lacks a religious stance, same as most League members.

Romantic Viewpoint:
Unsurprisingly, Bruce Wayne has been the love of her life for the longest of time. Though there have been others, she has always held him in the highest of esteem. Since his noted disappearance, Talia hasn't been particularly interested in the pursuit of romance.

Personality
Upon first encounter with her, Talia is easily perceived as unfeeling, and calculating. She lacks trust in others, and all of these traits are attributed to the no doubt intense training she had to undergo and the countless tribulations she had to endure throughout the course of her life. She is very much like her father in that, if she doesn’t have the League at the very apex of her mind, she generally has herself checked off as her first priority. While Talia can be fiercely devoted to something or someone, she is also incredibly independent which makes her unpredictable in this regard, as evident when she worked for Lex Luthor during his tenure as president, only to go behind his back and transfer everything he’s ever achieved to Wayne Enterprises and divulge all his secrets.

Still, Talia is not without a heart. While she is seen to side with her father, she more often takes Bruce Wayne’s side over the beliefs she was taught. Despite their romance being a rollercoaster of ups and downs, Talia expresses immense concern and a deep love for him, though not as much as what she expresses for their son, Damian Wayne. Her half-brother actually noted that her biggest weakness was her love for her son, seeing as she goes to the greatest of lengths to ensure his protection and well-being, even if that meant incapacitating him just to get him away from a growing danger. She has gone through amazing feats of betrayal and deception to ensure that Damian, the legacy of her love with Bruce, lives on.
Her loyalty to him is unyielding, yet even still, she is a deadly woman with no qualms against killing, especially if it allows her to advance. She is not someone to be taken lightly, what with her manipulative skills, her incredible intelligence, and her fierce fighting capabilities.

Biography
Pre-Void Earth History

After having to disown Damian when his allegiance was made clear, Talia pursued raising the clone she had created of him. The genetically perfect clone would be ten years younger than Damian once he was finally "born," allowing for her to raise the child instead of leaving him to be brought up by the League of Assassins for eight years before coming into his life, as she'd done with Damian. This new method was done with the belief that, if she was a prominent maternal figure in her new child's life, one that he could depend on, then perhaps what happened to Damian– the defect that was brought about by spending time with his father –wouldn't occur within the clone. She refused to make the same mistakes twice, striving for perfection with the child and neglecting to inform anyone aside from a few servile scientists and the original Damian about his existence.

And so Talia spirited the child away once he was complete, going into hiding for four years where neither Bruce or her father could uncover her and the clone and has since been travelling constantly to cover up her trail. However, news of the vanishing heroes had reached her, and while she was unmoved at first, it wasn't until she heard of Bruce's imminent disappearance that she was directly effected. Batman had not been seen in Gotham for some time, nor any of his followers, and she knew Bruce would never abandon his city.

At the same time, the League had fallen apart as her father's weakness began to become apparent at the loss of Batman and his adversaries. Talia was able to hold onto a faction for protection and to train the child clone who remained nameless for four years until her original son's disappearance. The name Damian was hence passed onto the clone as she was sure he would surpass his "brother" in being the perfect heir.

A year later, Talia has spent much of her time ever on the move with the boy, reconstructing financial aspects of her father's once expansive organization in the midst of this travesty. Much of the year has been spent in mourning the loss of Bruce, and yet part of her also grieves for her original son, despite the clone being by her side.

Relationship Explanation

Family:
Ra's al Ghul | League of Assassins | Father to daughter
While she had, at one point, been fiercely devoted to her father, her love for Bruce had often gotten in the way. Disillusioned multiple times when it came to her father's plans, Talia seemingly works more for herself than for him now, especially after realizing how she could never live her life they way she wanted to with him still in it. Their relationship is definitely touch-and-go, especially after the stunt Ra's pulled by trying to use Damian as a vessel.

Nyssa Raatko | Deceased | Half-sister to half-sister
After being brutally tortured by her sister, Talia was temporarily brainwashed by default. The two, after their father's death, took over the League of Assassins, though this period ended after Cassandra Cain usurped part of the position by killing Nyssa. Whether or not she felt any grief over her death, Talia would never say.

Dusan al Ghul / White Ghost | Deceased | Half-brother to half-sister
Their relationship was certainly a shaky one, considering the fact that she had no idea he was her half-brother until his denouement. She certainly felt no warmth towards Dusan, especially after the fact that he tricked her and tried to use her son as their father's vessel.

Damian Wayne / Ibn al Xu'ffasch / Robin V | Deceased | Mother to son
A difficult relationship indeed. Her first encounter with the boy, aside from at his birth, was on his eighth birthday. The two were relatively close despite that, and although she loved Damian, it was clear that it had been a mistake to leave him with his father. Damian was meant to be the perfect heir to both families, but Bruce and the Bat family had ruined him with their ideas of justice, prompting her to disown the child from the House of al Ghul, though she always would care for him.

Damian al Ghul / Ibn al Xu'ffasch | League of Assassins | Mother to son
The original Damian's perfect clone, created to be the perfect heir to both of their families when the original Damian was disowned. Talia is fiercely protective of the five year old and has gone to great lengths to keep him a secret from the rest of the world. For now, at least. She has raised him on her own, foregoing the method she had with the original Damian of waiting eight years before finally seeing him, hoping that a dependency and bond that she had lacked with the original child would occur in this one. He is being trained by an underground faction of the League at Talia's request, as well as by kidnapped tutors to continue keeping him a secret, especially from her father and the Bat Family.

Romantic Relationships:
Bruce Wayne / Batman | Deceased | Ex-Husband
Affectionately called "beloved," Bruce had proven to be a thorn in her family's side since the get-go. Yet, despite all of that, Talia loves him immensely. She's even gone so far as to neglect her father's orders in order to protect him and what he stands for despite the consequences. Switching between enemy and lover endlessly, she cannot deny the feelings that she has for him.

She has spent the last year in mourning for him after news of his disappearance reached her. While he was seemingly immortal in his own right, after knowing that all of the heroes had vanished, she knew that he would not be returning to her this time around.

[Weapon Information]

FN Herstal FNP-9 ( 9mm ): A full size handgun that accepts up to 17 rounds. While she is prone to use any sort of firearm, this is the one she usually has on her person during most occasions.

Cup hilt Rapier: a slender, sharply pointed sword with a complex, beautifully designed sweeping hilt crafted to protect the hand wielding the sword.

[Ability Information]

Longevity: Extended lifespan through the use of the Lazarus Pits.
Genius Level Intellect: Talia is incredibly clever and a skilled strategist, easily compiling schemes and thinking two steps ahead of others.
Business Management: Having run LexCorp in Luthor's absence during his tenure as President, as well as heading the League in her father's place after Nyssa's death, she's proven herself very adept at organization and capable of running businesses.
Advanced Hand-to-Hand Combat: She could hardly be considered an assassin without knowing how to fight without the use of weaponry. She can hold her own in a fight, having done so on many occasions, and knows a variety of different fighting styles from her training with the League.
Marksmanship: Considered a weapons master, Talia is skilled in using any sort of firearm or, should it get low tech, bows and arrows.
Swordsmanship: While guns would be a favorable choice, she's no stranger to any sort of blade, especially considering how skilled with a sword her father is.
Stealth: You can hardly be called an assassin unless you're light on your feet.

[Weakness Information]

Oh, the humanity: Talia isn't some superhuman. If she get's hurt, it'll hurt (regardless of her reaction to it), and if enough damage is done, she could very well die.

“Rowan…”

“I don’t want to hear it.”

“Rowan, just—“

“Just, what? Listen? Well, isn’t that an idea!” The younger man unceremoniously took a crashing seat onto his dressing room chair, his bloodied hands slamming down on the messy top of his vanity. Rowan clenched his fists, averting his amber eyes from his reflection in the mirror across from him. He didn’t need to see how crappy he looked; he felt it with every fiber of his being, after all. Marco stood lean and tall by the door in his pressed suit, looking completely undisturbed as he hastened his action of closing the entrance to Rowan’s dressing room. “You’re acting like a child,” Marco insisted, using a stern voice that would have one really believing that he was addressing a kid’s misbehavior rather than that of a twenty four year old’s. “I’m acting just fine,” the younger spat in response, glancing up into the looking glass so he could shoot his vehement glare at Marco behind him.

His eyes flickered to his own reflection in its surface, his bloodied fingers rising up to ghost under the black eye he was sporting. Noticing the action, Marco slowly approached his seated assistant and placed a hand on the back rail of his chair. “That’s quite the shiner you got, huh?” Rowan lazily hummed in response before pressing against the bruised skin, willing it to heal. The mottled shades slowly started to fade away, reverting back to his natural skin tone and completely erasing the swelling.

“What shiner?” Rowan questioned, smirking coyly despite his irate mood. Marco frowned and removed his hand from the chair in favor of crossing his arms over his broad chest. Even though Rowan’s magic still caught him off guard at times, he wasn’t at all impressed by the display and he especially wasn’t impressed by his assistant’s behavior. “You should have kept it. It was ugly as hell, but maybe it would have taught you a lesson.”

“I don’t need to be taught anything,” Rowan caustically responded, scowling at Marco via the mirror. The man didn’t even flinch. “Really? Row, you just came back from a bar fight. You look like s**t, or you did even more so when you had that black eye.” he pointed out, resuming his firm tone as he regarded his ruffled appearance. “You’re drunk.”

“I’m not. I was drinking, yeah, but I ain’t drunk,” the assistant contended as he slouched forward against the vanity’s top. “Actually, I want to be drunk. Get me that fancy decanter of whatever you keep in your dressing room,” he added, blindly groping behind him in an effort to shoo Marco from the room. The man chuckled and shook his head, batting away the younger’s hand instead. “I’m afraid that’s a little too strong for you, lightweight,” he jested. “Good, hook me up.” He just wanted to unwind and forget what was going on and maybe teleport back to their apartment to relax in the comfort of his own bed.

Mi cielo,” Marco (jokingly) fondly stated, watching Rowan’s slumped form. His Spanish accent was thick when he reverted back to his native tongue. “There are things you aren’t telling me… Which is funny, you know, because it’s usually getting you to shut up that’s the real problem.” Rowan gripped his arms tighter and kept his head buried against them. He didn’t like keeping secrets; he was a very open person—practically a book—and Marco served as not only his boss and friend, but also his primary confidant. Yet he couldn’t tell him. Not this time. It was his burden to carry because, to put it simply, he was an idiot.

“You should know by now that it’s better this way,” came Rowan’s muffled response. “I was afraid you would say that,” Marco sighed, allowing for the conversation to lapse into silence. They both needed a brief time to think: Marco about what he was going to do about his unruly and suddenly secretive assistant (Could he call his parents for help? Would that count as tattling? Rowan was twenty four, so it’d be a little odd, but…) and Rowan about getting the drying blood off his knuckles as soon as he could. It wasn’t even his own blood, which made it pretty gross.

“Does it have to do with the Helmet?”

“Yes.”

The man hummed wisely in response and quietly watched as Rowan sat up from his hunched, wallowing position. Without turning around or raising a hand, the sink spouted to life with a gushing sound of water. A hand towel fluttered off the rack, captured a gracious amount of the liquid from the tap, and floated over to Rowan’s outstretched, expectant hand. The sink turned off as Rowan rubbed the warm, moist cloth over his hands in an effort to wipe the blood away. “I’m tired of being forced to fit a mold I wasn’t made for,” Rowan softly conceded, casting a wary glance to the gaudy golden helmet resting on a shelf beside his vanity.

“I think it’s about time I took a long overdue vacation.”

          - Wrought iron
          - Jazz music
          - The noise of cities
          - Conversing
          - Fake magic
          - Lit fireplaces (he adores the smell they give)
          - Money. Making money, spending (other people's) money...You name it, he's all about it.

Dreams: He doesn't really have any. Sure, living a comfortable life would probably be his top choice, but he'd probably respond with something snarky along the lines of, "The American dream of a nice house with a white picket fence and a green yard, maybe some kids. And a dog, probably. Some cats, too. Gotta keep it classy."

          Dislikes:
          - Silence
          - Animal cruelty
          - Eye horror of any sort
          - Being lied to (yet, Row being the hypocrite he is, has no qualms about lying to others)
          - Having to be patient
          - That stupid helmet

          Fears:
          - Harm coming to his loved ones
          - Being burnt to death
          - Drowning
          - Losing himself

          Darkest Secret:
          - He had the tendency to turn his lovers into amphibians and reptiles when he gets pissed at them for breaking up with him or for treating him poorly. To Rowan, he's the only one that can commence the break up, not the other way around. Also, who likes be treated like dirt? Not Rowan, that's for sure, so four or five people have felt his wrath. He holds onto them, however, via pawning them off on friends without telling them what they really are ( "Here, watch my axolotl for the week. Her name is Angela, by the way." ) until about a week later when he returns for them and changes them back to their original human form with no memory of their scaly, slimy transformation.

          - Rowan's cult days are best kept a secret because he's a little embarrassed over that.

          Favourite Food: Muffalettas

Favourite Drink: He's not picky, he'll drink anything. His favorite is probably water though since you can add flavors to it.

Least Favourite Food: Rabbit gumbo. Don't get him wrong, it's delicious, but he likes rabbits too much to want to have them slaughtered for supper and then, consequently, have to consume the product.

Least Favourite Drink: Anything unexpectedly sour or overly sweet.

Loyalties: Above all, to himself. Then loved ones, then come what may.

Intelligence Level: Of average intelligence, although he's profoundly knowledgeable when it comes to the occult.

          Dominant Hand: Right handed

          Strengths: [Character's Strengths]

Weaknesses: [Character's Weaknesses, Everyone has a Weakness]

          Cherished Items:
          - His Scrapbook: a collection he's crafted of all the places he's been while on tour. There are photos of himself, but its pages are mostly comprised of photos of himself with others or of different locations there, like monuments, historical places, etc., as well as miscellaneous other things like ticket stubs, brochures, and phone numbers written on bar napkins.

          - A baculum wrapped in gold cloth: he keeps it in his back pocket at all times. Though an incredibly bizarre thing to have, they're widely considered good luck charms when carried on one's person.

          Philosophical / Social Viewpoint:
"Do unto others tenfold what they've done unto you," seems to get him through life just fine.

          Religious Viewpoint:
None. His parents never had an established religion in their household and always taught him to keep an open mind about the beliefs of others.

          Romantic Viewpoint:
Rowan is a mess when it comes to romance. He's all about experimentation and is just as wild and free as the magic he wields. Commitment spooks him because while he knows he could potentially settle down with someone, he's afraid they'll eventually grow tired of him. He doesn't want to be a one trick pony to someone he cherishes, which is why he has so many lovers but never anything solid in terms of a relationship. Eventually he'll move on from people (mostly due to his career), keeping ties but severing anything romantic or, more often than not, carnal that they might have shared in fear things might evolve into a stage he's in no way ready for. Marco, his business partner, often comments that Rowan, "leaves a trail of broken hearts in his wake."

He only contemplates deep romantic relations when he's close to a person, but as far as anything lascivious goes? He's all game regardless of gender.

          Personality
Free-spirited and prideful, Rowan is a force to be reckoned with. He is incredibly personable and, as a result, makes many friends in many different places. He can look past outer appearances to see what really makes up a person, so regardless of physical attributes, he'll approach anyone. Row is rather empathetic and is always lending an ear to listen with or a shoulder to cry on if a sob story moves him in such a way, which they usually do. Often described as sultry and capricious, neither description, he would confess, would be wrong. He is a very open person that wears his heart on his sleeve.

Daring and devil-may-care, he isn't opposed to making lewd comments, and if there's one thing he likes, it pizzazz. Rowan is outrageously flashy (it comes with his career) and flamboyant because he just simply loves to show off and put on a good show. His charm and suave nature makes him a hit with many people, which isn't surprising considering the amount of lovers he's filled his scrapbook with. Said past lovers would easily call him clingy and needy, which also wouldn't be false; Rowan is awfully affectionate even though he doesn't want a legitimate relationship (for the reason stated in his Romantic Viewpoint section).

Still, despite his seemingly ridiculous nature, Rowan can be incredibly vengeful. He does not take well to scorn or mockery and will often enact some cruel bit of revenge with a sadistic smirk on his face or a scowl that could turn someone to stone with one look. Row also tends to be a jealous person and very much the hypocrite; while he doesn't mind have multiple lovers at a time, if he sees one of them off with someone else, he'll glare and grate his teeth to keep himself from cursing them right then and there. It's a very nasty disposition, but one he has regardless.

          Biography
Rowan was born and raised in the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana. He grew up being one of the urchins roaming the tight cobble stone streets that chased after the quaint horse drawn carriages to try and hitch a ride and heckled tourists with faulty history for fun. It wasn't glamorous, but for a mischievous child, it was the perfect location. His mother, Anastasia, who was born in Bulgaria but immigrated to New York before she turned two, was just as wild and free as he was and followed her hear to New Orleans. She was seduced by the jazz, drinking, and dancing, but also by the rich mystical history the city possessed. While not an incredibly talented Homo Magi, she had enough charm and a knack for persuasion to get her where she needed to go. Rowan's father, Gustave, was New Orleans born and bred. He came from a long line of Homo Magi; his ancestors immigrated to Louisiana to escape the witch hunts occurring in Europe and have been there ever since, thriving among the populous with humble jobs that would arouse no suspicion. His earlier ancestors, however, dabbled in voodoo with the local voodooienes, but because they were so helpful to the community, no one sounded any alarms.

How the two managed to meet and marry is still beyond Rowan; the two seem like polar opposites with his mother being loud, flamboyant, and boisterous (their son definitely took after her) all the while his father is more soft spoken and modest. Regardless, as far as Rowan is concerned, the affair involves a funeral and Mardi Gras, though with those two facts alone, he's honestly frightened to hear the rest of it. The two bought a run down store in the French Quarter at the corner of Rue Dauphine and Ursulines Avenue and converted it into the ultimate New Orleans tourist trap; a somewhat-authentic voodoo and magic shop. Somewhat because most of the things his mother threw together possessed zero magical properties, but they certainly made a pretty penny at the register. His father, instead, set up a curtained area in the back of the shop where he'd perform legitimate tarot readings, palm readings, and divination for a good chunk of change. They lived in the apartment upstairs, and once they gutted everything out, added in new appliances, and slapped a fresh coat of sky blue paint on it, business was booming. Many of Rowan's fondest childhood memories are of that shop, primarily because he literally lived above it.

Rowan was actually a happy accident—his parents didn't want any children, hence why he's an only child, but Ana refused to part ways with him as soon as she found out she was pregnant. "He's going to do wonderful things, Gus," she had insisted, rubbing soothing circles over her baby bump. Despite not wanting any kids, the two were wonderful parents, if not a little haphazardously. They showered him with affection but also gave him a lot of independence—so long as he came home before sunset, he could venture wherever he wanted to in the French Quarter.

They also immersed him in his heritage; they taught him spells and how to control his magic. While his father taught him to use it in moderation, his mother was all about teaching him the flashy displays; like conjuring up smoke, or transforming objects. The two also left him with Miss Maude and Miss Anne Marie who were two old voodooiennes still in the community that schooled him in older, more diverse occult knowledge that his parents didn't know. He loved them immensely and referred to them as his other mères. Miss Anne Marie passed away when he was sixteen at the age of ninety three while Miss Maude lived for a couple more years until passing away at the ripe age of ninety seven while he was twenty one. Rowan attended both funerals and actually left in the middle of a performance to go to Miss Maude's wake.

When he wasn't attending school, doing homework, or running a muck in the streets, Rowan mostly helped his mother in the shop. While tourists bought up fake magic items, those from the community who still strongly believed in magic were given authentic items to ward away evil, end a curse, or simply give someone good luck. When one needed an actual occult item, they'd come to Rowan (whom many affectionately referred to as "petit clochette" when addressing him, which was a pun on their last name since many, like Rowan's family, spoke French or some broken rendition of it). Rowan, in turn, would put the order out to his mother who would have the item prepared for later pickup. Eventually, once he entered high school, he actually started handling the authentic orders so that his mother could work full time in the store instead of having to take breaks often to enchant items or dig up old occult ones.

Rowan was fond of learning, but not what school had to teach him. He excelled at history and English, but math and science both frustrated him. He was only good at geometry, and that was mostly because he could draw the most perfect circles (among other shapes) after years of practice with incantations. The only thing he really enjoyed learning about was the occult, and that wasn't something you were taught in a New Orleans public school. He had a thirst for magical knowledge that couldn't be quenched, and it's a good thing he didn't figure out how to teleport until he got older or he would be hopping all over the place trying to find old tomes and scrolls to pore over. Science, to him, was also incredibly useless since he had magic. Chemicals and molar mass weren't impressive when you could turn a rat into a cat with the blink of an eye and the utter of the word, "Transform."

It was no surprise when Rowan dropped out his senior year. His parents felt as though they should be disappointed, but their son clearly wasn't in-tuned with the modern education system. What was surprising was the fact that Rowan dropped out to become a travelling Magician's assistant. His mother, after getting over the initial shock, found it hilarious while his father was still stricken. Marco de Ruella captivated Rowan with his free, somewhat nomadic lifestyle that garnered the two things the eighteen year old craved in life; money and fame. Even though Marco didn't use real magic, he was excellent with his fake magic that sometimes left even Rowan stooped because his sleight of hand was just so superior. The two had met a few times before while Marco was on tour in New Orleans, and when the eighteen year old pleaded to let him come with him, the magician had merely laughed.

That is, until Rowan turned him into a crocodile.

Then, you know, there wasn't much laughing after that. Actually, after Rowan turned him back and let him keep those memories, Marco walked out of his dressing room and wandered around the theater's parking lot for half an hour in a panic before he was able to somewhat calm down and come back inside. He had no intention of taking some kid along on tour with him, but the kid had talent—natural talent, and he could make a small fortune off of it. That was no stage magic he'd just witnessed and, consequently, had been a part of, and Marco agreed to pick him up as his "lovely young assistant."

Most parents would be furious, but his parents weren't like most. His father was flabbergasted since he was a firm believer in a modest lifestyle for those with magic, meanwhile his mother couldn't have been more proud. Her son was going off into the world to con folks at an even larger scale than she was. Many tears were shed the day he set out on his new life, but said new life?

He loved it. Adored it, even. The travelling, the applause, the limelight, the laughter, the audible gasps, the salary... He lived for the moment. Even if he wasn't the main act, he was just happy to be up on the stage or out in the audience gathering willing volunteers.

Marco grew quite fond of Rowan very fast. While he originally viewed him as a tactic to make an even larger sum of money, the teen was a quick study and tenacious which were admirable traits. He didn't give up easily, even if something backfired, and kept pushing forward. And when Marco asked him for strange tricks, Rowan was all for it, so the two made a great, if not wacky, team.

When Rowan had finally mastered his teleportation ability, the two bought a small flat in New York and used it as their main residence. Aside from it serving as their permanent home, they also tended to spend the night there if they weren't fond with whatever living arrangements they'd cooked up in the city they were actually supposed to be in for a performance. Come the afternoon, Rowan would just teleport them back after a nice New York lunch to be in time for practice in Las Vegas for the show that night.

          [Relationship Information]

          Friends:
Marco de Ruella | Neutral | Business partners
Marco is five years Rowan's senior and an occult fanatic that's purely human. Rowan jokes that there isn't a single magic bone in his body, and yet Marco plays the magician in their shows since "he's the boss" and handles the finances. Plus he's just an all around a huge ham, even more so than Rowan, so it's fitting. He pretends to be doing actual magic while Rowan supplies the real deal, but even Rowan can't match his boss's sleight of hand. Marco is something of a renaissance man; having dropped out of college to pursue stage magic, he also took up fencing, clock making, and painting. Rowan actually doesn't know much about the man's past since he likes to keep to himself on that, but whatever the case, he was already a well established "magician" by the time he met an eighteen year old Rowan.

          Family:
Anastasia "Ana" Bel née Zahariev | Neutral | Mother to Son
Rowan adores his mother if simply for her personality alone. She's very authoritative and commands a room with just her presence alone. She doesn't take s**t from anyone, not even her husband, and certainly runs their household with an iron fist. While not particularly forgiving, Ana is, however, a very kind soul that looks out for her community and is known for giving free, legitimate charms and spells to those in it that are in need of a little fortune.
She and her son are on good terms, which is a blessing since having an angry, magic-wielding mère after you wouldn't be an easy life to lead.

Gustave Bel | Neutral | Father to Son
Rowan's father is far more soft-spoken compared to his wife Ana. Born and raised in New Orleans, Gustave prefers to practice legitimate palm reading and divination rather than dabble in the con-artist, tourist trap scam his wife runs with their shop. He likes to remark that Ana's greed has served as a bad influence on their son, especially after Rowan ran away to become a "Magician's assistant," much to his father's chagrin. Gustave believes that those with magical attributes should live a humble lifestyle, despite the fact that his son and wife seem to believe quite the opposite.
Despite their varying opinions, the two are quite close and Rowan loves to speak highly of his "incredibly dated-in-beliefs" père.

          [Weapon Information]

Close Combat: While he may not be super skilled at it and depends more on his magic, Rowan isn't afraid to throw down every once in awhile even though, again, he's had, like, zero training. Punching someone in a bar fight isn't very hard to do though.

The Tower of Fate: While not exactly a weapon, Rowan inherited the Tower when he became Fate's host. The Tower of Fate was created as a safe haven for the host(s) of the Fate persona. The tower contains many valuable artifacts and tomes, both magical and non magical. Rowan will sometimes squat here if he wants to do research, needs to find something for an incantation, or he simply wants to try and catalog what occult objects the tower contains. However, he isn't incredibly fond of the Escher-esque tower because it doesn't feel like a home and will probably never feel like one to him.

Orb of Nabu: Kept safe in the Tower of Fate and by far the most valuable item kept there, the all-seeing orb allows for Doctor Fate and magic users to see into the past, present, and future. It's something Rowan barely touches unless curious.

[ The Vestments of Fate ]
( information regarding the abilities endowed via the vestments will be listed under Abilities)

The Helmet of Fate/Nabu: According to Black Alice, it is "the most powerful magickal artifact the world has ever known," yet despite all of that praise, Rowan hates the damn thing with a passion. It's gaudy, and not even in a good way, and when he wears it, he isn't himself, which gets under his skin the most. While his magic is significantly weaker when he doesn't wear it, Row doesn't mind so long as he can be himself and actually feel emotions.

Amulet of Anubis: The circular device that adorns the livery collar worn around Doctor Fate's chest and shoulders is the Amulet of Anubis, which gives anyone who wears it vast magical abilities.

Cloak of Destiny: one of the vestments of Fate, worn by those who assume the role of Doctor Fate that endows the wearer with heightened magical abilities.

          [Ability Information]

{ Occultism }: Row is a huge occult buff, which is the only reason why he actually frequents the Tower of Fate because that place is practically a candy store for any magic user or lover.

{ Homo Magi / Magic }: Rowan isn't an ordinary human, but another species entirely that can control magic. While he may not be nearly as strong as he is when he dons the Helmet of Fate, his own powers help him most of the time.

              - Transformation: A pretty obvious power; turning something into something else, such as a gross ex into a salamander. He or another magic user will have to turn whatever has been transformed back to normal unless he allows the spell to be temporary.

              - Flight: Whether you call it flying or levitation, it works in either case, however, he needs to focus to do it so it's a little tedious since it takes up quite a bit of energy to maintain it.

              - Healing: It costs a lot of energy, but Rowan can heal himself or others with the right amount of concentration and a single touch.

              - Prestidigitation: Or simply the art of "sleight of hand," which is the ability to manipulate objects such as cards or coins secretly. It's actually not a magic ability but a trick he picked up from Marco for their act to give it the wow factor required.

              - Hypnosis: The ability to hypnotize anyone and take command of them is Rowan's least used ability outside of a stage performance. He doesn't like taking away the free will of others unless for a short period of time and if they volunteer for it.

              - Enhanced Strength: The ability to lift and/or press volumes of mass far in excess to that normally possible for a human being functioning in Earth gravity. It's really telekinetic power that allows him to supplement his physical strength. The most he can lift is a car.

              - Force Field: He can create a force field to protect himself and others from the dangers of ranging explosions and bullets. While it doesn't require a lot of magic to construct, he needs to concentrate to hold it in place, especially depending on its size.

              - Telepathy: Rowan can read minds and erase memories, although the latter power usually weakens him significantly for three to four hours since he actually has to sort through the person's memories to find which he needs to erase.

              - Eldritch Blast: A blast of mystical energy.

              - Telekinesis: The ability to move objects and/or obtain objects at a distance.

              - Teleporting: Rowan can relocate himself to anyplace he wants in the world. He can also send others or take others with him, but it's a heavier toll on his powers the greater the number. He generally sticks to a maximum of only two other people for teleporting.

{ The Vestments of Fate }: Worn by the hosts of Fate that endow them with incredible magic power. Many of Rowan's true powers carry over into what powers Fate has, so those will be listed twice as they are heightened by the power of Fate. However, Fate acts in his own way and is very different from Rowan; he will sometimes not use a power even if it could save someone's life because sometimes Fate simply cannot intervene with an event if it would break far too many rules.

          The Helmet of Fate/Nabu:

              - Magic Sense: He can feel the presence of magic in his surroundings.

              - Magic Awareness: He can be tuned in with the cosmos and feel incoming mystical events.

              - Astral Projection: Sometimes called "Soul Projection", this ability allows the character to bring their "astral body" out of their "physical body" in order to do a number of things.

              - Chronokinesis: Sometimes called "time manipulation" or "stasis control", Chronokinesis is the ability to manipulate the time stream. This power includes the ability to perceive events outside the confines of the normal Space/Time continuum, the ability to travel forward or backwards through the time stream, or the ability to manipulate the time stream from a remote location.

              - Dimensional Travel: Sometimes confused with "teleportation" or "portals", Dimensional Travel is the ability to bodily pass from one reality into another through an act of will.

              - Divination: the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means.

              - Eldritch Blast / Mystical Bolts: A blast of magical energy.

              - Energy Construct Creation: Sometimes called "Energy Manipulation", Energy Construct Creation is the ability to create and manipulate various energies in a manner that creates matter from virtually nothing.

              - Energy Resistance: Sometimes called "Body Resistance" or simply resistance, Energy Resistance is the ability to withstand energy, concussive or heat-based offensive attacks. This ability only concerns energy based attacks.

              - Flame Spell / Pyrokinesis : Sometimes called "pyromancy", Pyrokinesis is a term used to describe the ability of some characters to generate and control superheated plasma, fire and/or lightning.

              - Force Field: one of Fate's fields could withstand the attacks from Aquarius for one full week.

              - Healing: a term used to describe the ability of some characters to heal the wounds or diseases of others or themselves. It differs from powers such as Regeneration by it's external use.

              - Hypnosis: The ability to command the mental faculties of other human beings. This power is psionic in nature, although mystical applications, such as in the case of Fate, exist as well.

              - Illusion Casting: The ability to create illusions in reality with no visual boundaries. These illusions can be generated from the user's mind or from the victim's. These illusions can affect more than just sight, they can resemble touch, smell taste and hearing.

              - Intuitive Knowledge: access to insight and vast knowledge of the mystical and occult from spells to rituals and etc.

              - Invisibility: the ability to bend light around an object, rendering it invisible. Users of this ability become invisible to sight but they can also become invisible to other senses as well.

              - Invulnerability: Doctor Fate could withstand military weapons and an explosion that could destroy a mansion.

              - Magnetic Manipulation: The ability to manipulate magnetic fields or more specifically to control ferromegnetic materials, such as iron.

              - Molecular Reconstruction: The ability to alter the physical structure of matter.

              - Necromancy: The ability to summon the spirits of the deceased, summon demons and/or summon the dead. Necromancy is a form of divination and therefore can often be misunderstood as 'voodoo' or occultism. Necromancy differs from these forms of physical magic due to it's direct influence without ritual.

              - Phasing: To become intangible and allow the person to go through solid objects.

              - Psychometry: ability to see the past as well as the possible future of an object.

              - Resurrection: Just as it sounds; the ability to bring back the deceased to their former life. This is a very rare ability for Fate to use.

              - Telepathy: the ability to manipulate and/or communicate with others using only the power of the mind. A favorite technique of people who use telepathy are "mind wipes". This specific use of the power forces the victim or target to lose memory either entirely or from specific events

              - Telekinesis: When used in conjunction with his helmet, this ability is powerful enough to move a planet.

              - Teleporting: The ability to move one's body from one location to another via magic.

              - Time Travel: Ability to travel through the time-stream

              - Divine Empowerment: Nabu knows the true name of Ra, and can use his divine power to momentarily increase his own magic.

              - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

              - Helm's Resistance: The Helmet can put up a certain amount of resistance to those it doesn't want wearing it, making it a struggle for them to try and use it.

              - Protective Enchantments: The Helmet had several protective enchantments on it. On several occasions, it was stolen by villains seeking the power of Doctor Fate; usually, the end result was that the wearer went insane when they tried to put on the helm.

          The Amulet of Anubis:

              - House of Souls: The amulet has also been shown to house the souls of many who have worn the vestments of Fate.

              - Dimensional Travel: The amulet contains a pocket dimension inside it.

              - Obscure: Render the user undetectable to magical detection.

          Cloak of Destiny:

              - Flight / Levitation: As Fate spends most of his time suspended in the air, the cloak greatly decreases the concentration and power behind allowing for floating and flight.

    [Weakness Information]

Separation from the Helmet: While Rowan prefers not to wear it 24/7, if he needs it, he will don it since it amps up his power immensely. Take it away from him and he isn't nearly as strong as he would be with it on and he loses many of the abilities the helmet gives him.

Magic Comes At A Price: After long mystical battles or casting powerful spells, Fate's power would be depleted and needs to restore his mystical energy.

Noxious Gas: His invulnerability does not protect him against gas-attacks.

No Emotions: While not exactly a weakness, when the Helmet of Fate is donned it strips away the emotions of its host, which is the primary reason Rowan doesn't like the thing.

A Matter of Touch: For some abilities, Rowan needs to touch a person or persons to use the power. These include healing and memory erasure.

Out Of Body Experience: Rowan's body is susceptible to attack when he uses astral projection if he is not in a safe location. If his body is moved, it makes it harder for him to come back immediately.
