(Not a problem.)

(breaking order, due to special occasion; new character!)

"I remember him..
I don't know if he considered me his friend, but I knew him..
He didn't seem like the type to-"
Nis grabbed his head in pain.
"..But I saw the blood. I saw the body..
And I saw him there, with blood-covered hands, and eyes filled with fear.
..He tried to explain.. I listened.
But the fear in his eyes..
It was a fear of the Hunters.
He was guilty.
He just didn't want to pay the price..
Won't work on me. I'll find him."
He looked up to the snow plains around him.
"Even if he's all the way out here.
I'll find him."

Jahev nodded in greetings silently, and awaited for the Artruvian to do the same so he could sit. He'd probably not have much time. He didn't want to have to involve too many civvies. Not now.
And not here.

The large man picked a corner and sat.
Easier to communicate if he wasn't banging his head on the ceiling.
"Like I said to him: name's Fuast.
Thanks for havin' us."

As he stopped moving, he looked around.
Not many supports to an igloo.
Nothing he could rip out of the wall in a hurry if a weapon was required.
Oh, well. Curses probably won't bring too many undead here.
Not with how many are left in the area.
Not after a half-hour ago.

Vinan took a seat afterwards.
Then Darial began speaking.

"So, are you two from the City?
..Well, either way, we don't get many travellers out here..
What brings you two?"
--------------
Nis knelt down and scooped some snow.
He closed his eyes.
"The fear I saw in his eyes..
Why was I there?
Why did I have to see the blood..?
The body..?
The fear.."
He opened his eyes.
"It's the fear that strikes me..
It tells me he's innocent..
But I saw the body.. I saw the blood..
I want to believe his innocence.
But I know he's guilty.."
He began to speak aloud.
"I need the Ice to guide me..
Please.
Where. Is. He?"

The snow blew off into the wind, in Jahev's direction.
"Thank you.."

'...'
Jahev was silent. He was obviously not going to state his intentions.
'... All I can say is I don't aim to kill any of you or any similar activities,' he informed Darial. 'I was passing through to elsewhere...'
He didn't like this much. Despite enclosure, he knew his ex-allies could track him by any means. He needed to deploy a countermeasure, or a decoy, or... something. These people had no hand in his matters what-so-ever.

"Which city? I've seen a few pop up lately.
Oh, wait; right. That one.
Not really. I'm no more from there than anywhere.
I guess you could say I'm recruiting for a new Flame, but that's mostly an excuse to travel.
Need to find a mage that I can stand to let breathe for more than a few minutes."
The beak-like helm nodded to Vinan before returning to the father.
As he spoke, he tapped the chestplate in indication.
"If it weren't for your boy, I'd be facedown in the snow by now.
The cold gets to a man when he wears this much metal."

Jahev wasn't someone Fuast thought it wise to trust right away.
He had this furtive air about him, as if he didn't want to be found.
Anyone like that spelt trouble for those around.
...Might be interesting to hang around, come to that. Not like the warrior had anything better to do.
"Well, if you don't want to tell, I won't ask.
Isn't my place, anyhow; I'm a guest as well."

Fuast didn't get much in the way of sentient contact.
Being on his own with none but the dead to speak to left him hungry for talk, at times.
It tended to spill out when there finally was someone there.
He knew the curses would bring this tranquility to an abrupt end. They always did.
Still, for now, this was... well, nice.
"Oh. That's right.
It might be impolite to ask, but is there anything lying around that I could use as a weapon?
I lost the sword that I'd been using."

"Why would you even think of killing us?" Darial asked.

Vinan eyed him for a moment, giving a look that he wouldn't hesitate to draw ab blade if need be.
He turned to Fuast. "Here."
A blade of ice formed in Vinan's hand and he tossed it over.
"It'll probably melt, eventually, since I doubt you know how to take care of it, but it's just about all we have, for now.
Not much else here weaponlike at all..
Flame, huh?
Well, probably not much people here you'll find that'd join a Flame.
We worship the Ice."
------------
'The snow, and wind, are cold..
The Ice may be willing to guide me..
But I haven't earned Its protection..'
A gust of wind blew by, and Nis shivered.
'Perhaps even It wishes to kill me..
I am only here to spill blood upon Its snow..
With just cause or no..
It does not want the beauty of its white land tainted with-'

Nis stopped, as he saw the body of an undead in the snow.
"..Double killed.
Is this.. His work..? Or..
Someone else..?
It's not like the body I saw before..
..Not even a blade wound.." He knelt down, and touched its shoulder.
"Cold. Killed by the Ice." He placed his other hand on the corpse, and turned it over, so its face turned towards the sky.
He sat on his knees, and plulled out a paper.
It was titled "Children of the Ice".
With a deep breath he began to slowly sing words of a different language.

The snow blowing throughout the air began to surround the body.
One by one the snowflakes turned into a thin sheet of ice that covered the body.
The body began to decay, leaving only the Ice in its place.
Once the body was gone the Ice melted, and Nis stopped singing.

Suddenly another gust of wind blew by him.
As he prepared for the impact of the cold wind he looked to the wind, struck by awe.
It was warm. He stood up, and began to walk in the direction he was heading.
"Thank you.." He said. Though in the wind he swore he heard the same message said to him.

'It's not me who would think of it.'
Jahev seemed a little bit restless but still. He was obviously worried about something and trying to contain it.
'Is it OK if I go outside for a few minutes? I'll be fine, with my cloak.'
PostPosted: Mon Aug 25, 2014 6:33 pm

The armored man caught it in a quick, if stiff, motion.
"Thanks.
A bit lighter than I'm used to, but I'll manage.
'Can always just beat someone with their friend if it gets rough."
He frowned a bit in the shadows of his helm, but didn't toss it aside.
The balance was good, and the edge, but it was rather light...

As Vinan responded to his query, the expression morphed into a rueful smile.
They might not be able to see it, but it colored his words and body language.
"You're right on that one.
I haven't had much luck with the other locals, anyhow.
Pity the Ice couldn't help me, or I might just have stopped in a village and put down roots."

Fuast glanced to Jahev, still a bit wary.
The other stranger's worry was eating into him, along with one of the curses.
More a curse of misfortune than anything, but he'd picked up a knack for knowing when something was going to go wrong...
"Not gonna run off, are you?
Linger out there too long, and you'll die."

Something was coming; he could feel it.
Not undead. Not unless some necromancer with a grudge had cobbled something more serious together.
The warrior was getting tired of figuring out how to exploit all these curses.
...But not nearly as much as he was worried about what they were doing to him.

"I guess you could step outside..
But he's right. If you're out too long the Ice'll kill you.
It's not usually very nice to people it doesn't know.
Feels like they'll usually try to exploit its power."
He turned to Fuast.
"Yep.. Your best bet would be the City..
Liire-something.
I'm not entirely sure what you're recruiting for, exactly, but I heard that's the biggest city.
Out here it's kind of.. Empty.
The serene emptiness of the Ice is usually why people come out here.
That or they want to harness the Ice.
The latter is the reason It's so protective of itself."
----------
'I'm guided by warm winds in a field of snow..
Guided to him..
Sometimes I wonder how I live through things..
I should have died so many times..
But then.. Then I..' Nis sighed.
'Must be blessed, or something..
A blessed killer.'
The memory flashed through his head.
'The body.. The blood..
He.. He needs to die.
I need to know how close..' He stopped.
Not far off was a town.

"The Ice Children.. Was he..?
No..
Why was he.. Or.. Is he here?
I won't let him kill another..
Not like.. Not like that. And not again."
--------------
The secomd Jahev stepped outside there was a gust of wind.
In it the whisper of the Ice could be heard.
"Hunted."
PostPosted: Wed Aug 27, 2014 6:37 pm

Jahev remained motionless, but muttered in reply, 'Thank you.'
So he could only move on from here now... or he could fight. Guessing that since his hunter was using Ice magic he'd have the disadvantage, he could only move on or move back.
Back was not a preferable option.
Luckily, he knew a few words of his own. Luckily. You never know when you needed safe passage and a hidden heart.
He sang lowly and softly to the wind, so as not to disturb the others, in words he hoped conveyed what he desired currently.

The warrior made a small grumbling sound.
"The main chapters are in the Cities. Not much luck there.
Everybody's already in some other guild, and it's too easy to ask the wrong person.
Still... Alright. I can see the appeal of the Ice.
Peace, calm, quiet; those're fine things to have in life."
As he spoke, Fuast's rusty voice almost sounded wistful at the end.

He put the icy blade aside for a moment, putting his hands on his knees.
This might not go well, so he was attempting to make sure he didn't seem hostile.
One had already seen him in action, after all.
"You seem like nice folks.
You've been good so far; I figure you deserve the truth.
Might as well tell ya a couple things.
Truth is, I'm recruiting for a new iteration of the Undying Flame.
If ya want me to get out now, I'll understand."

Truth be told, he was rather expecting it.
The other guy might be a fugitive from the law or something, but few things were quite as illegal as being part of the Flame.
Most didn't want to associate with them, given their violent and unpredictable reputation.
There was that, and there was a growing tension.
Whatever his curses were calling, it was getting closer.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 28, 2014 11:46 am

"Undying Flame?" Darial said. "You say that name like we should kno-"

"Shh!" Vinan suddenly snapped.
"A Song."

Though Fuast would likely hear nothing, but those who knew the Ice heard its Songs.
"I'll go see what's up." Vinan said, an ice sword forming in his hand. He walked outside.

Darial was silent for a moment.
Once his silence was done he spoke softly.
"..Why would we kick you out?"
-----------------
Vinan stepped outside to see Jahev singing.
He touched his shoulder.
"What's going on-?"

"Dead." The wind whispered.

"..We should probably get you out of here.."
------------------
Nis walked through the abandoned village.
The place smelt of death though not a body was to be found.

"What.. Happened here?"

There was suddenly a gust of wind that blew the snow.
It was only seconds before there was a ditch in the ground.
There was a frozen body at the bottom.
"..The village is buried.." He said, looking around.
He then realized what he hadn't before.
The houses had no entances. All buried beneath the snow.
"Was this.. Him?" The wind gave no answer.

He knelt down, and began to sing, again.
The body in the ditch faced a similar fate to the other body.
"..These aren't undead.. They were double killed.
Deliberately killed."
He stood up and began to walk away, following the warm winds.

'It'd be best if I went alone...' Jahev muttered, ending on a sigh. 'Otherwise you'll likely get put down too.'
He faced the snowstorm and bowed, regardless. He'd asked, but the Ice rejected. There was nothing more to it.
'... Besides, I wouldn't want my threat to have innocent lives on his back.'
