It's just degree of influence. You have predominantly western views. If social/political views are what make a person western, or whatever equivalent thereof, I'd assume (as I don't know the majority of your views), that you're a pretty damn western person. I'd still say my views vary more than someone who was, say, a tenth-generation Canadian. I'm very westernized, but there's still significant differences between me and the average white Canadian. I'm just going through an identity crisis. : P Maybe I'll decide that you're right later on. Do you think the reason for that is specifically because you're a 2nd generation Chinese immigrant? Probably. : P Maybe I'm just trying to feel special. My parents are actually quite westernized themselves, having spent more time outside of China than in it; I'm probably more western than I think I am. Well if your disassociation with westernism is because of your Chinese heritage, doesn't that mean that in a way, you're identifying as Chinese, at least partially? : P I don't get it. You're not Canadian because you're Chinese, but you're not Chinese because you're Canadian... Would the logical course not then be to identify as Chinese and Canadian? XD Because if one has enough of an impact on who you are to keep you from identifying with the other, then obviously you're identifying with it. : / Maybe Chinadian. : P

It's just funny to us because it's one of those things that the American public school system drilled into our heads a thousand times. And after hearing "Remember the Alamo." for the umpteenth time, hearing someone say "dafuq is the alamo" just makes me all smiley. XD
