“Ah...” Bathing in the pleasantly intense sunlight, Lex stretched languidly on his beach towel, wearing a little grey speedo. ”Maybe this job isn’t as bad as I thought it was. Paid vacation and everything. I can get used to this.”
He let out a lazy yawn, scratching his ear. That was funny, he thought he heard something that sounded a lot like... trouble. But there was no way there was trouble, it was a damn beach. Unless some stupid kid tried to swim out too far and drowned, but lifeguard wasn’t part of his job description. With a small grunt, the diminutive dragon turned onto his side, looking down at the water. Everything looked normal to him. A few kids screwing around, some of them flying around, and then there was... one of them flailing in the water like something was pulling him down. s**t.
”Oh for ******** sakes!” Lex was quick to spring to his feet, taking off running for the water. It looked like there were some other would-be hero students going in after the guy, but in the end they were just kids too, and they’d probably just get themselves pulled underwater along with him. ”Get the ******** out of the way! Professional coming through!”
The dragon skidded to a stop in the sand, right about to jump into the water... only to see the “drowning” guy float to the surface with some other guy wrapped around him in what looked like a pretty intense make-out session. After all that, it was just some kids screwing around. Lex’s eye twitched as his fists clenched.
”....why do I even bother?” He muttered, heading back for his towel. ”From now on I’m not even getting up until I see at least one kid being eaten by a giant shark or something.”
Flopping back down with a grunt, Lex muttered as he closed his eyes and folded his legs, placing his elbows on his knees with his hands in the air, fixing his body in a pose for meditation. He didn’t care if these kids wanted to screw each other on the beach, but they could at least do it in a way that didn’t get him all rowled up for nothing.

x x x x x x As he dove into the water, Brody had shifted a bit, giving himself a swimmer's body. The water was dark as he swam deeper, caught a glimpse of a head of white hair being dragged away. To his left, Danni's sunglasses sank slowly downwards, jostled free of her face. Danni herself kicked out, fully dressed, weighed down a bit by the thick black boots on her feet.
Brody swam deeper into the darkness, his hands reached out for something, anything, as he lost sight of Ialo. He only had so much breath in his lungs, could only see so far. To his right now, he saw Danni gesture upwards, caught a flash of movement.
And there was...a torso? A boy? A squid-boy? Whatever it was, Brody determined, he was going to catch it and slaughter it...As soon as he got some air. Already Danni was swimming for the surface, obviously reaching her limit. He did the same, beating her to the top by a few seconds and willing his hair to recede back into his head when it started floating around his eyes. He needed to be able to see.
With a gasp, Brody breached the surface of the ocean, spitting out a stream of water. He had to get back down, had to save...Every thought in his head trailed off as he glanced over, saw the squid-boy straight up kissing Ialo. Fury came first, then alarm. What the hell was he doing? Sucking the life from him?
"You get your hands off what's mine." The words came out of a snarl, and he swam forward, wrapped an arm around Ialo's shoulders, used his other hand to push against the squid boy's face. Once their lips were parted, Brody's hand scrubbed one across Ialo's mouth as if to cleanse it.
He heard Danni surface, heard her vicious curses as she spat out water and pushed hair out of her face. But he couldn't think of that now. Squid boy still had his tentacles around his dragon boy.

The squid-thing's head felt like jelly. At least it wasn't a hard collision that sent Fumi bouncing back, but still she was pushed away. Frustrated that this had only given the beast pause, she changed back into human form.
Fumi froze, however, as the big tentacle beast turned halfway human. She found this fascinating and swam up closer to investigate. He spoke first, but Fumi could not have predicted its next move. It was pressing its mouth against Ialo's. Fumi was unaccustomed to this sort of thing and simply waited, watching the two of them float up towards the surface.
She followed shortly after, just in time to hear Brody angrily reclaim Ialo. How strange, she mused, she was unaware that you could own a person. Fumi watched Brody curiously, considering his words.
"He... belongs to you?" Fumi said, a bit quietly. Petra had just caught up with Naomi when she spotted a familiar face joining them on the beach. Vik was out today in his female form. She was always curious about the switch her friend made from male to female. It felt silly but she could relax a little more around Viktoria than Viktor. Still, she waved, calling over the shapeshifter.
"Over here!" she said, smiling brightly. How oddly wonderful it felt under the sun with all her friends. It was as if this could be her natural state.
Still, Petra paused as she heard a shrill yelping noise from the water. White hair disappeared under the surface just as she looked over. Before she could even think, she shouted his name. "Ialo!" Always a small bit of attention paid to where he was, she knew that had to be him. If only she could reach him fast enough.
But she hesitated. Brody and Danni were already flying towards the water. The odd little Kappa girl dived in after him as well. Petra was unneeded. Still, she had to be sure. She took off in a run towards the water, managing to make it just to the shoreline before he resurfaced.
Her face flushed in realization as he came up out of the water. The half-octopus student had its tentacles all around the dragon boy and was mouth-to-mouth with him. It wasn't quite like kissing, rather it was more akin to CPR. Nevertheless, an awful feeling twisted in Petra's gut.
Even more so when Brody referred to Ialo as "his." Were they dating? The Kappa, whom she remembered was called Fumi, seemed confused by this notion. Petra shook her head. There were more important things going on right now.
"Is Ialo alright? What happened?" she asked no one in particular. Gerwald was just getting settled with a book - he couldn't help his addiction - when the commotion started. Even Petra was getting involved! Danni, Brody, sure, he expected that crowd to get into trouble. But Petra? Dear lord, these bad influences would be the end of him.
He stood from his spot and grabbed a pen from his bag before lifting up one foot at a time. On the bottom of his crocs, he drew quick magic circles. That should be enough for him to stay afloat for the necessary time.
Still in no hurry, as it seemed Ialo was alive. He started a slow pace towards the students. Walking atop the water was simply the faster way there. He sighed as he made his way there. Why couldn't they just let the teachers handle things?

 Malice Martin Benedict
Malice, despite it being purely for the purpose of keeping this interesting creature alive, was actually enjoying their carefree drift. But then, there was a disturbance in the water. Somebody was shouting. How unusual. They were close too, maybe another surfacer coming to help their friend? How touching! The feeling of Broderick's hand on his face was a surprise. At first he was pleased at the warmth, but then became confused when his lips were torn away!
Together, he and Ialo surfaced, and he could feel the other parties moving around in the water. Suddenly this didn't feel so serene, these waters were hectic. Malice unwound himself from Ialo, dipping back beneath the sea.The light was back now, so close to the surface it seemed almost engulfed by the sun, but it was definitely felt. The thought of leaving it was sad. He wanted to help now! So, the misguided creature decided to do just that! Malice had hardly vanished for a few moments before, with a very languid motion, two of his limbs gently lifted the two boys out of the water, and the swim for the shore began! It was a weird ride, but were Broderick to cooperate for the entirety of the way, both bodies would be safely deposited on the water bank, being lightly sifted by the surf.

Ialo wasn't out for that long - truth be told, if he had noticed the tentacles tugging at him sooner, he might have actually thought to hold his breath instead of scream. But because he was stupid and panicked, he ran out of air in a suprisingly short amount of time - only to come back to a stranger's lips up against his, the taste of calamari, a wall of black hair blocking their face.
And, still more tentacles. They were cold and slimy and wet and the tip of one was uncomfortable close to an area in which only Brody had ever touched him. Ialo looked down, and was surprised to see that the tentacles attached to the upper half of a boy his age, at least he thought that was a boy. Some flat-chested girls could be very sensitive.
He coughed and sputtered and unelegantly let purged saltwater dribble down the corner of his mouth, pushing Brody away as well. No matter who it was, and what body part it was, Ialo did not want anyone or anything near his mouth anymore. It was probably obvious in the way he began flailing around again, trying to get away from everything, up to and including the water.
The first signs of rebellion were Ialo's eyes and mane suddenly glowing as blue scales erupted from under his skin. The transformation was smooth and fast, and difficult to see because of the strong light he emitted. The muscles under his back visibly shifted around as a pair of massively long dragon wings sprouted. The human body was quickly lost as Ialo transformed into his large gangly dragon self, with horns and claws and a much longer tail.
With a powerful downward beat of his unrestricted wings, Ialo the blue dragon was able to leap out of the water and hover into the headwind, delicious-tasting and aggressively fondling monster boys be damned.
Get off, he would have said, if a dragon could talk in plain old English. Instead, he loosed a very agitated howl that, befitting of his effeminate visage what with the iridescent blue scales and the misty white mane, sounded more like terribly off-key bells than intimidating beastly growls.
Meanwhile, Mr. White sat completely unmoved on the beach, reading the front page of the New York Times. "My my, it's rather quiet today."

 Malice Martin Benedict
Swimming, swimming to shore. Malice was pretty focused on that, and all the sudden hectic flailing had his three hearts beating quickly. It was a whole set of drums in his head. But then, he began to feel the tactile sensation of straining muscles and flailing limbs. Well, this was good. Or that was what he thought. The light bearer was alive and very plainly well. He did not anticipate anything like this, though. Suddenly the source of light bulged in his grasp. Malice was afraid, even as the light pierced through his skin, he loosened his hold.
But, it was just a little late for that. When Ialo took off into the air, Malice instinctively gripped him, and in turn was swept away! Being airborne was something completely, and utterly new to the usually seabound creature. In exact opposite fashion to Ialo's wishes, each of his limbs clung frantically to the dragon's body. Even the two human ones, though they did little to get a grip. The colors that crawled over Malice's wavered and were quickly replaced with one that mimicked Ialo's own body colors. It was frightening, not only had he been plucked from the water, but he could not even see how far the now completely luminescent creature was taking him. Were it not for the surprise, this might've been almost enjoyable.
The shriek sent noticeable tremors down Malice's many arms. No, this wasn't safe anymore, this was scary! His body went cold and perfectly still, set in it's deathgrip on Ialo's long scaled body.

Her mumbling about lack of assets was soon disrupted by the sudden eruption of chaos at the shoreline, Brody, Danni, even Petra went to go, which could only mean one thing. Ialo had gotten himself into a ******** again. Viktoria strolled casually down the beach towards the splashing and tentacles, wait tentacles? Maybe Ialo was in actual danger, this could be interesting! Sweeping her flowing hair from her face Vik picked up the pace slightly, coming to stop by Petra's side to watch the mayhem. " Well this escalated quickly... What is Lizard got himself into now?" Viktoria remarked in a surprisingly delicate and feminine voice, like some Russian princess or something. The tentacle boy-thing that had been dragged out of the water with Ialo looked familiar, but not in a way that Vik could place him. Perhaps it was a student, perhaps it was just some overly friendly seafood, he couldn't care less either way. But the thought of seafood was making him hungry... " Say, are you hungry?" Vik began, thinking some barbecued squid would go down nicely. " I could go some lignja* right... now..." It took off, Ialo had fled, as usual, but the rather delicious looking lunch had went with him, how disappointing... Viktoria gave a little sigh as she watched the flapping of Ialo's wings soar higher with the little blob of cephalopod goodness stuck to his body, start to disappear... " Ahhh, it got away..." Vik said in disappointment as she sat down on the cool sand next to the lapping water. ((*squid))

Lex thought everything was under control, he wanted everything to be under control. He didn’t want to break his meditation, doing so was disruptive to his inner balance. But it didn’t matter, because the commotion going on was already causing him to lose all his focus. Slowly, his blank expression twisted with aggravation. What the hell was going on now? It sounded like...
”Sounds like some a*****e is looking for someone to kick his butt.” Rising up out of the sand, Lex’s eyes snapped open, his head tilting back to glare up at the sky. So he was right... there was another dragon here. Wonderful. ”Calm. Down. Now. Or I’ll make you calm down, and you won’t like it.” His mouth was twisted into a scowl, letting out a grunt. ”Freaking out like that over nothing. What the ******** is your problem?”
Next his attention turned to the “monster” that was clinging to him. Of course, it was no monster at all. It was another kid. Rolling his eyes, Lex knelt down by the tentacle monster boy.
”Hey, Octoboy.” The nickname was already stuck, just like that, and now it would forever be Malice’s title in his eyes. ”You can let go now. The ride is now over. Or I can pull you off, your choice.”

What just happened? A moment ago Brody was there, patting him on the head--not exactly the response Amei had hoped for, but better than nothing---and the next he was running away, leaving the angel sitting dejectedly in the sand. Was it something he said? No, it was because someone took Brody’s attention away from him, a boy who looked to be drowning. Amei’s brief company was off to rescue that other boy, along with a few others. Everyone was now turning their attention to the dragon boy, and now Amei was all alone... pouting. How would he make any friends if no one would pay attention to him? That was when an idea came to him. A wonderful idea that he was very proud of.
Amei sprung up off the sand, running out towards the water. It was a simple plan, but he felt sure that it would work. All he had to do was pretend that he was drowning, like that other boy, and everyone would come to help him. And... someone would try to “resuscitate” him. That someone might even be his true love! It would be very romantic when their lips met for the first time, he could see it in his head, and the thought made him squirm with how good of an idea this was. Sometimes he surprised himself with his own cleverness.
Soon the angel was splashing out, moving deeper, swimming out farther. He would have to make it convincing. Once he was far enough out, the beach fairly distant, Amei cleared his throat. Nodding to himself, he started to flail his arms around, thrashing in the water--quite convincingly he thought.
”Please, someone help me!” He hollered at the top of his lungs, waving his hands in the air. ”I cannot swim, and I am drowning!”
After continuing this for a minute or two, Amei allowed himself to sink, closing his eyes. If all went well, someone would arrive to pull him to safety. If not, he might sink far enough that he really would drown. But at the time, this didn’t occur to him as a factor in his clever plan.

Petra stared out at the chaos out in the water. She sucked in air as she watched Ialo transforming. It was not often that she got to watch this, and it never seemed any less beautiful than the last time she saw him change. She hid a blush as Viktoria came up next to her.
"I'm not entirely sure what's going on out there," Petra admitted. For all she knew her concern was unneeded, and this was just the dragon and his friends messing around again. It was hard not to feel left out as she watched the rambunxious bunch and the various shennanigans they got themselves involved in. Perhaps it was not the safest group, but somehow they always seemed to be having more fun than the rest of the school.
She giggled a bit as Vik joked about eating the squidboy. Shaking her head, Petra said, "Alas, I'm no big fan of fish blood."
Petra continued to stare out at Ialo as he was chased by another dragon. Another student? And amist all this chaos, there was Gerry, standing out on the water shaking his head with shame. She knew exactly what he would say to her if she were within earshot.
"Unfortunately, one Necromancer never seems to be able to get the job done around here." She chuckled to herself. At least there were plenty of dead fish in the sea he could animate. Huh, dragon time already? Fumi was already losing track of all the events as she started to paddle away. This was no fun anymore. Everyone just seemed grouchy and crazy and she wasn't even causing it to properly laugh at their expense!
At least it seemed someone knew what fun was. The pretty little thing was splashing around like crazy, shouting something about not being able to swim. How awful that must be. Soon she (or was it a he?) was sinking beneath the water, looking rather pathetic. Fumi smiled brightly. Now this was something she could do! She would teach the pretty one to swim! Lesson number one: It Is Advisable That You Keep Your Head Above the Water If You Cannot Breathe Beneath It.
Diving under as quick as she could, she sped towards the blonde. She grabbed him at full speed and did not stop. With not a bit of grace Amei was dragged onto the shore while Fumi hovered above him. Hadn't that tentacle beastie been touching Ialo's lips with his own when they came out? Was that a custom around here? No time to reconsider, they were already out of the water!
Fumi leaned in and pressed her mouth on the pretty one's lips, not entirely sure why she was doing it. It seemed fun anyway, so why not?!

Curled up quietly on shore, Grásta waited in silence, having hidden herself under a large umbrella so that her painfully pale skin wouldn't be touched directly by the sun, knowing she'd burn quickly. Despite her better judgement, she'd decided that it may be a good idea to allow herself to get some sunshine, giving herself a bit of a free pass from her self regimented schedule of work to go on this trip. She had also forgotten sunscreen entirely.
Digging her bare feet into the sand, she enjoyed the rather surprising shift as it went from scalding hot to cool, laying down with her book held above her face. There was a quiet determination that settled over her, having reached a rather humorous point in her book before she started to realize she had been reading the same part a few times over. The text grew larger and larger until it met her face, the calming smell that drifted down from the pages sealed her fate. Within a few moments, she was out cold.
As she lay sleeping the book remained over her face, a soft hoot emitting from between its pages every few minutes, her hands falling free from the well loved paperback. It was a matter of time before the umbrellas position would leave her open to the sun and a slow and steady lobster bake would begin.

Air.... air... air! That was all Amei could think as he continued to sink down in the water. Was it possible no one would come to help him? What if no one had seen him? What if... what if they were ignoring him? What if nobody liked him? This thought was almost as upsetting as the fact that soon he really was going to be drowning. His eyes were just about to open, he was just about to start flailing towards the surface, when something that felt like a ballistic missile caught him and dragged him along behind it.
Unable to contain himself, a small squeak bubbled from his mouth, which quickly shut again to prevent the water from filling his lungs. Someone had saved him? Amei didn’t dare open his eyes yet, but he could tell they were pulling him back to shore. It seemed to take no time at all for them to reach the sandy surface, the grains sliding against his back while his rescuer dragged him up. Even now the angel still wouldn’t open his eyes. Not until they had began to ‘revive’ him could he safely get his first glimpse of his rescuer... the one who destiny had surely shown to be his true love. Filled with anticipation, the boy lay as still as he could, waiting.
A slight touch first alerted him, then a full press, pleasant warmth closing over his mouth. At this point he was unable to stop the red flush from spreading across his visage. Oh, their lips were softer than he had expected... and a little fuller. It felt wonderful--kissing was his favorite activity, it always had been--but somehow different. Would they know he had been faking it if he started kissing back? Probably, but he did a little anyway, unable to contain himself now, pressing his own lips lightly to his rescuer’s. Was this really how resuscitation worked? Didn’t it have something to do with breathing? Oh well, he didn’t really need it. It was time to look upon his hero. The angel’s green eyes cracked open slightly.
“Mmh...!?” Amei’s eyes widened in surprise. His rescuer was a girl! Somehow he had been sure it would be a boy. It wasn’t disappointing... just... more embarrassing. He actually had never kissed a girl’s lips before, just on the cheek. Back home it had really only been the boys he knew who wanted kisses from him--they thought he was cute. But now a cute girl was kissing him, and he hardly knew how to respond. Around boys he never felt this shy. In his flustered state, the angel accidentally let out some of the energy that he normally used to heal, moving from his mouth into the girl’s in a golden glow, his twinkling wings creeping their way out of his back at the same time. With a gasp, he pulled his mouth away from the embrace. ”I am sorry, I did not mean to do such a thing.” It wasn’t as if it would harm her, but the tingling wash of energy would be a surprise.
Then he realized his mistake. He had given himself away, now she knew for sure that he had been faking. The boy’s face glowed, his eyes wide and embarrassed, shifting shyly.
”Th-Thank you for saving me.” He stammered quickly, trying to cover up his flub. ”I owe you my life.

Everyone else had made their way down to the beach already, but Fiona, she had hung back at the bus to change, which was in no way an easy thing to do with all the kids and fellow staff milling around. For some stupid reason she didn't think to wear her swimsuit under her clothes like the others. With her usual black suit neatly folded and her polished leather shoes packed away, and a pristine white number with blue side ties (and a holster strapped to her leg with her 'wand'), Fiona grabbed a towel and slipped on her sandals before making her way down to the scorching sand of the beach. Scorching was no understatement!! Every now and again one of her her toes would poke over the edge of the sandal and get a nice surprise when it started to cook on the ground. She needed shade, if this heat kept up there would be nothing but an Elf flavoured puddle by the end of the day! There were plenty of parasols stuck in the sand, and plenty of the were occupied already. There was Grásta, she was nice enough, a bit weird to talk to though. And that Windingo woman, Suzimo or something, she made Grásta seem perfectly normal! Grásta seemed like the obvious choice. Making her way over to the curious shapeshifter, Fiona looked over at the carnage down by the waves. These kids were mental enough in school, at a beach with no responsibilities? It was... a miracle no one had died yet! Gerwald was out floating above the water, by the looks of it he was trying to do something to calm things a little, even if he didn't know what that something was yet. Stopping just before the parasol that was mostly covering Grásta, other than her now burning legs, a playful grin spread across Fi's face. " Two birds with one stone? Heh... I think so, I do think so." She muttered under a plotting laugh. Drawing her 'wand' Fi aimed towards Gerwald, and with a simple pull of the trigger and a loud bang, a small spell circle formed around the end of the barrel milliseconds before a bullet passed through it and shot brightly towards the water at Gerwald's feet. With a splash it connected with a wave just off his foot, causing a small shockwave of magic to bubble around him, destroying the magic circles on his god awful crocs. Seriously, who wore crocs...

Her lips had evolved from making more of a duck-like shape to a more relaxed position, pressing hard against the pretty one's. She felt a small push against her mouth, and realized that he (which she had realized was truly a he somewhere in the process of dragging him ashore) was both alive and conscious. Then there was an odd tingling, somewhat pleasant but mostly strange. It was sort of warm, making Fumi feel like a glowing light bulb. Her energy surged as she pulled away in a wide-eyed surprise.
A slow grin spread on her face, noticing he'd been just as surprised. She laughed and started going off with motormouth Japanese at the boy's comment. When she realized - a bit late - that he hadn't understood, she restarted in English a bit slower.
"That thing you did was really cool and all... what's the word again... fuzzy?" She looked around as if the answer had to lie somewhere around her. Alas, she couldn't remember. She shrugged and turned back to the pretty one.
"Do itashimashite," Fumi said. "Umm, well... I don't know how people give lives to people. You do not have to owe me something so important. You keep it, bishounen!" Fumi grinned wide and sat seiza before giving a small, but polite, bow. "My name is Fumi. Hajimemashite!" Lazy, everyone. Everyone was absolutely lazy. Had they forgotten that as teachers they had signed up to supervise? They were here to make sure trouble was avoided. Yet, Gerwald seemed to be the only teacher up and about. He huffed, staring off as the dragons started to fight. There wasn't really much he could do about that. One magician, no matter how talented, could not fight off two dragons, even if one of them was not fully grown. Still, an attempt ought to be made.
Lifting his hands, he took a deep breath. This was the magic that came to him easy as breathing. Fishbones rose from the waters below, creating a small army of dead fish. He rose his arms higher, preparing them to surround Lex, now that he had transformed back. He wasn't even clothed anymore! Oh, he was asking for a whole lot of punishment. Such indecency within sight of dozens of ladies!
Yet, just as he started to move the fish army towards Lex, he felt himself regaining the mass he had discarded to float above the water. Within the blink of an eye he sunk under, his blonde braid whipping around him. The fish bones continued, their momentum sending them at full speed towards Lex, and now without someone to control them.
It should have been impossible for the circles to fade so quickly. Around him lingered the remnants of bubbling magic. Someone had meant to do this. No doubt another trouble-making student.
Gerwald resurfaced, doggy-paddling madly. He was upset to discover that in the process of a mad rush to get into more shallow waters, he lost one of his crocs. Some of the most comfortable footwear he'd ever owned, and now half gone. Now, it was personal.

Quickly holstering her 'wand' and sitting down next to Grásta, so she didn't fall over from trying not to laugh, Fiona unsucessfully stifled the snickers coming from her mouth. The way he fell in slow motion before plunging beneath the water was HILARIOUS! " ffhhrremm, mrrffm... Bahahahaha!! What was THAT?! Haha! Gerry, sorry, haha! Are you alright? What happened?" Fiona called out feigning innocence after completely losing her composure at Gerwald's soggy face. He didn't suit being wet, his hair just stuck to his face and made the man look so pathetic, almost like a cat that had been dunked. Fiona stretched out her long slender legs, one of the features she most enjoyed about her Elven heritage, and lent back on her arms as a smile danced about her face. Poor Gerwald, he was wet, probably annoyed, and he'd lost one of his stupid crocs. It had cheered Fi up though.
