>>>SCENE UNLOCKED>>>ASHE]
As you push against the wall, there is the sound of something pushing back, as if the wall there is hollow. There doesn't seem to be a way to open it over here, though.
>>>SCENE END>>>
Aidrian hadn't meant the greeting literally, and gave a wry smile as the Doctor raged for a moment on his staff. Kharo was one of the few that could intellectually challenge him, and he wasn't sure how much he liked that. There were a few things that the men could--and did--definitely disagree on, though to what extent, he couldn't quite say. Choosing to nod in agreement to the Doctor's statements about Alex, he shrugged and took another sip of water.
It was no secret that Alex was the most troublesome 'patient' thus far. She had the mindset of someone with nothing to lose, too--all it took would be one power failure, and all of his worst nightmares would come to life in her. There was no denying that the girl was freaky, to say the least. If she was smiling, nothing good could come of it. But what he felt personally on her was known to him, and him alone.
At the "Doctor's orders" to walk about, Aidrian offered a wry smile. He would sleep later, but now was not that time. He rose after Kharo left, making his way back up to the security office, settling into his chair again, and checking the time. Three P.M. He would go to bed at eight. Five more hours.ACCEPTED<<<

┏━━━━━αℓєxαη∂яα━━━━━┓ She loathed being spoken down to. Alex narrowed her eyes at Gavan and curled her hands into little fists, before suddenly releasing her fingers and smiling as if nothing was wrong. Tossing her braided hair, she sauntered from the cell. "Oh, don't worry, my dear. No more than the usual. You have my word."
Ooh. One day, she would find the damn power box to this place, shred it to pieces, and then unleash hell. She flexed her fingers, silver eyes narrowed at the wall. The last time she had complete control of her abilities was when she was twelve, and Aidrian had not yet been a member of their staff. The power shut out, and... well. Six men in the wing wound up dead, slashes and cuts and saw-like gouges all over them. The last one had to be committed. Last she had heard, he was still scared of the dark. Alex smiled at the memory, leaning her head back. Oh, she hadn't been let from her cell for years for that. Not that she could have helped it at the time--she was a scared twelve year old. But, anyway...
Calmed, Alex linked an arm with Hanson's, her thin frame leaning against his, smiling wickedly. "Of course. Pizza sounds excellent." ┗━━━━━You think you have the best of intentions--I cannot shake the taste of blood in my mouth━━━━━┛

[You got me away from the book for this?]
Did the wall...Just push back? She blinked at it and looked it up and down again. She then placed her ear against the wall and tapped. It sounded hollow...But how? She took a few steps one way, still tapping the wall until the hollow sound stopped. She took a step back and looked at the wall again
"...What's on the other side?"
She tried to remember what was on the other side of library, but couldn't. She never really bothered to look before. Well, now she would. Her curiosity got the better of her and she left the library.
She turned down the side that bordered the side the sound came from and looked around, not sure what she would find.

Are you afraid of the dark?
-Hanson Alister-
You shouldn't be.
Hanson felt Alex move to his side with his mind just as much as he heard her moving towards him. Glad to be out of his cell which cancelled his abilities, he kept his mind probing outwards. Not that it was very far. The best he could do was 4 feet in a circle around him. Not much at all.
After listening to Gavan talk about no annoyances, Hanson was once again pulled back to when Alex had reigned free. Hell. ALL of the gen-d's had been free for that blessed moment. She'd been 12 and had wreaked havoc. He'd been 9 and cowered in his cell, scared. However. He remembered what he was able to do before the power was on again and all of their powers had been suppressed. The sheer range of his Telepathy. The actual ability to communicate with another mind to mind. Not that he ever got to use it. He'd been able to use it that one time. And been too afraid to act on it.
Hanson shook his head slightly. He was no fighter. Better to stay out of the way and be considered insignificant. As Alex hooked an arm around his and leaned against him, his head turned towards her and down automatically. As they moved towards the cafeteria at a slow and measured pace he said quietly, his head still turned towards her, "Now that, was fairly calm of you. No attempt at the guard? No tripping him or anything of the sort? What ARE you planning?"

>>>SCENE UNLOCKED>>>ASHE]
There is only a wall on the outside of the library. There appears to be no doorways, but anyone who is really looking can tell that either there is a great deal of unused space shut off from the rest of the facility, or there is something hidden.
On the floor, a number of slightly dirty footprints are on the floor leading towards the library.
Aidrian's beeper suddenly goes off. Staring at the message, he rises and leaves his post, striding quickly, almost urgently, toward the library.
Turning the corner, he finds Ashe examining the wall on the outside of the library, as if looking for something.
>>>SCENE END>>>
"Miss Ashe, can I help you?" Aidrian asked. His voice was level, but a slight edge betrayed something more to his question.

┏━━━━━αℓєxαη∂яα━━━━━┓ Alex giggled, smiling back at Hanson. She really didn't have a plan quite yet, but there was something in her head that she knew was there. Her mind had a funny way of alerting her when she could probably form a plan, and it was telling her now. Patting the blind man on the hand, she made a soft 'tut' with her tongue. "I'm not planning anything. Yet. So don't worry, dear. All in due time."
Sliding into the cafeteria, she placed four slices of pizza, two oranges, and three cookies on her plate; say what you could about her, but no one could say she couldn't put down an incredible amount of food. Finding a nice spot to sit near the fringes of the room, Alex drew her feet up onto the bench with her and crossed them, munching into a cookie immediately, both hands clasping it. She looked a bit like a chipmunk, but if one wanted to inform her of that was an entirely different question.
"So." She swallowed a bite of cookie, pausing. "I'm thinking about doing a lap in the pool." ┗━━━━━You think you have the best of intentions--I cannot shake the taste of blood in my mouth━━━━━┛

-Hanson Alister-
You shouldn't be.
"Ah yes. The Infamous 'yet'." Hanson murmured as they walked into the cafeteria. By now they were far enough from his cell that he could use his echolocation without any downsides. He kept up a small burst of it as they walked and got their food, ensuring that he could avoid the things around him. Following her down the line, he got himself two slices of pizza, an orange, and a cup of milk, rearranged on his tray so he wouldn't knock anything over.
Keeping Alex in range of his telepathy, Hanson carefully followed her through the cafeteria to the table she chose and carefully set his tray down on it and, confirming where the bench was with a brief burst of echolocation, he sat down opposite of Alex, who had begun eating already from the sounds of it. Arranging his food on his plate so he could grab it with ease and not knock his milk over, he heard Alex say something about going to the pool.
"Ah," He said, taking a bite of pizza to give him time to formulate a reply. Pools had never really been Hanson's thing. Sure, if they were required to stay at the pool he would simply roll his pants up and let his feet dangle in, listening to the others swim. But for him? He'd pass on the whole 'swim in a large bathtub'. Swallowing he said, "If you'd like to go the the pool we can. I can sit on the edge as you do whatever in there."

Doctor Kharo
"Take the subject to my lab, you know the plan." Kharo said into his collar to his aides, who came to collect the massive, recumbent form of Kharnak. The Doctor continued his stride, taking in the news of Alex's release while proceeding towards his laboratory via a different route. On his route, he came across the canteen and stopped to pick himself up a drink before he started his experiments.
"Guards, why have these two not been transported back to their cells?" Kharo shouted, his voice laced with authority which make the Guards jump in surprise. The two he was regarding was L'Araumi and Ashe. Standing next to L'Araumi, he looked down at her. "I wonder how you managed to get out of your cell..." He mused, already knowing the answer, but shook his head as the now doubled Guard presence came to stand behind the Doctor, ready to take the pair back to their cells. "Doctor, Subject Vernos is restrained and under heavy sedition as you recommended. Monitoring brain activity and implant sockets have been identified. Awaiting your presence." The voice of his aide majoris said to him over the ear bead he often wore. "Affirmative, I will be at the Lab to begin experimentation of subject within minutes." Malaki replied into his collar, before finally turning to the guards. "Take them away."

Aidrian gave a faint sigh as Dr. Kharo's voice came over his comm link. Apparently they were having trouble with Vernos--again--and he wasn't even in his chair to shut it down properly. It wouldn't have been such a pressing problem had the notification that two of his guards had died hit his ears.
With a twists of his wrist, he unfurled the Phonex and opened a comm link to the rest of the facility at the same time. "Attention. Vernos Kharnak is loose in wing..." He consulted the live feed on his Phonex, before continuing, "Wing 29B. Do not approach. Shutting down the entire wing under the emergency gate system and filling it with nervous gas."
This had happened before. His security system, thankfully, had handled a few super-powered men. The wing would shut off in a series of gates, all latched and ultra-reinforced. Then, it would fill with a nervous gas, choking out the threat and targeting his muscular system. The gas would then overload his senses so much that his body would black out in a vain effort to recoup. Then they could handle the situation more effectively. Deaths on the job was not something he liked, by any means, and he felt badly about it. But it was a fact of the job. ACCEPTED<<<

┏━━━━━αℓєxαη∂яα━━━━━┓ Alex frowned at him, though aware he wouldn't see the expression. Communicating effectively with a blind man was more difficult than she ever remembered in advance--there were simply too many silent cues that humans used. How very troublesome. It wasn't as if he could help it, though, so what could you do?
"I'm just suggesting something. I'm bored to tears of Batalia, to be honest. I've been doing the same activities over and over again for what feels like forever." Well, twenty-four years wasn't quite forever, but three hundred and sixty-five days a year, twenty-four hours a day of the same halls, same books, same pool, same gym--it was enough to drive someone crazy.
Growing up in the prison wasn't unsafe, of course, but monotonous. Because of the constant surveillance and her reputation, Alex had never even been kissed, let alone had a boyfriend. To be quite honest, she was lonely, but she couldn't exactly say that to the guards. Oh, hey, guys, could you lighten up, I'd like to get a date here--no. That wasn't going to work. Plus, what was the point?
Shaking the ideas from her head, Alex sighed and leaned forward, cupping her face in her hands."If you have any ideas, I'm game."

-Hanson Alister-
You shouldn't be.
((I can finally post!!! yes! Gaia hated my computer for like.. 4 hours.. -_- ))
Hanson gave a slight nod of his head, agreeing with her. "Life here IS fairly on the dull side. And repetitive." He said, idly rolling his unpeeled orange back and forth using his forefinger. It was a habit of his, be doing something with his hands as he either spoke or thought. He didn't like just sitting still.
Growing up in Batalia had originally scared the crap out of Hanson as a kid. He'd been scared out of his mind, jumping at any noise or touch. Some of it was still with him after 20 years. Though after this long, one became resigned to the same dull day to day duties that they had to offer. And it wasn't very much. The same people day after day. Save a new one every few years or so. Same guards, same everything. It was very hard not to become bored with so little offered. But then again. They were Gen-D's. Why should they have anything NORMAL? His mouth twisted down in a slight frown at that thought before pushing it to the side and returning his attention to Alex again.
"No, I think the pool is perfectly fine." Hanson said, setting his orange back onto his tray and laying his hands on the table. "You can swim around and maybe I'll even soak for a bit." he said, pausing before adding, "With a tight grip on the edge of course."

"Your move."
The voice, belonging to an older sounding male, trailed off like a cassette tape on slow motion. Eerie at first but remarkably soothing. Betty found herself staring down at the clash of black and white squares that belonged to her chess board. It was as if she was staring into oblivion and there was no where in this tired world that she wanted to be more was in the calm and soothing embrace of the vacuum of space. Through her one, single window (any more would be cause for trouble, which is why she was only allotted one) she could see the velvet sky along with its twinkling of stars. It was like they were egging her on, they wanted her to long for that sort of endless freedom. Maybe they got off on tormenting people like that.
In that instant, this prison, often referred to as, "hell," seemed more like a joke than it ever had before. If they wanted to remind her why God gave her these gifts in the first place, all they need do is ask. Betty couldn't help herself a healthy, toothy grin.
"Your move." The voice rose up sternly with what one could discern as annoyance.
Betty looked down at the board in front of her and took a single sip of her water from the plastic cup beside her. As she set it down, she leaned forward and moved her knight ahead the allotted spaces and waited patiently. If this was going to go the way it seemed it would, she would successfully complete a Double Duck Formation and have Check Mate in five moves. Four if she could get in Great Snake, but again, only if she was lucky. Today though, she felt lucky.
And to what may her wandering eyes should see, the perfect opening for the Double Duck Formation. All of these people were just pawns on the chess board of life and Betty allowed herself another hearty smile. So many people in this facility had tried their hand at besting her. Fortunately for them the stakes were always very small, often times extra paper, things she was not allowed due to her special, "gifts." Chess was her sport, it was the only thing that brought her happiness now a days. As long as she could play chess, she could hold out and bide her time.
"I don't like it when you do that."
"Neither do I." Betty admitted sarcastically and moved her queen appropriately. "Check Mate." She nearly whispered and leaned back in her chair. The man, two years her senior was just like she was, although, not entirely as intelligent. He gasped at how quickly he was defeated and hung his head in shame. From his pocket he retrieved a small notebook and a pen and handed it, not so happily, over to her.
"I will figure out a way to beat you next time."
"Yeah. That's what they all say...." She trailed off, pulling her legs up to her chest and briefly hugged her knees.
"What are you thinking about?" He asked solemnly.
Betty paused to reflect on the question. "You ever get the feeling, that like, you may know something that you really shouldn't?" She cast a glance outside the window, another day was about to go by. One less day of her life she had to live....

[You got me away from the book for this?]
"An empty hallway? Here?" Ashe placed her hand on the wall, guessing at the spot where she felt the push, and looked around. "I guess I wasn't hearing things..." she said at the sight of the dirty footprints. She was about to kneel down to examine them when Aidrian's voice spoke out behind her. She stiffened and turned around to face him. "Ah...No..." She faked a laugh, and shifted her weight a bit. "I'm sorry, I guess I've read Sherlock Holmes too many times and tried to figure out his methods myself. Should keep those thoughts to the notebook huh? Not try them out for real. Sorry..."
She was about to say more when she heard Dr. Kharo's voice speak out of the other's comm link. She stood silent as Aidrian pulled out his Phonex and speak into it.
Vernos...
She shivered at the name, knowing full well what that man can do.
She waited for Aidrian to put the Phonex away, "Sir...?"

Doctor Kharo & Vernos Kharnak
Hearing the blaring sirens and the sound of slamming bulkheads, Vernos roared once again, pulping the limp body into the ground in anger. Freedom was so close. One reinforced door left and he would have vengeance against his captors.
Suddenly, a stinging sensation filled his nostrils, a sour taste blacked his palette. Nerve gas. Holding what little remained of his breath in his enlarged lungs, Kharnak shoulder barged the titanium reinforced door, a bulge pushed into the other side. After several more smashes, the door was bumped and smashed, but still it stood resolute, holding him in the gas filled chambers. He felt consciousness slipping, his vision blackening and his throat becoming clogged, muscles were starting to rebel and cease to function correctly.
Several armed guards surrounded the bulging door, wincing at every time the immense form of Vernos Kharnak slammed against the frame. Suddenly, it stopped. "I think the gas got him..." One guard said optimistically. Not a moment later, the door flew outwards, catching the talking guard and sending him sprawling to the ground, hurt, but still alive. The super human stomped from the wrecked frame, only being able to move due to the massive spike of adrenaline his overtaxed internal systems had given him.
Suddenly, the monster sized body crashed down to the floor. Standing to the right of the man was Doctor Kharo, the cylindrical object in his hand still lightly spitting electric bolts at the prone form. A combination of the nerve gas and a synaptic overload had completely shut down his brain and living organs, if only for an hour or so. "Aidrian, I will need some help carrying this brute down to my labs. We must be quick." He said, putting his neural device away in his pocket for later use if need be.

Sherlock Holmes? Only Ashe would make a reference to such an outdated book; he smiled in spite of himself and took her by the arm gently, leading her away from the wall in question. Man, sometimes he was surprised by things she said. Exactly two seconds later, another voice came over his commlink. Once more, Vernos had surprised him. New blast doors would be needed, no doubt. Experimentation, perhaps, was needed to develop a new type of door. Keeping rogue subjects like that contained should be a priority. Needless to say, he would need funds, and time, and... Oh, god. Was there ever enough time in the day to do these things? Sometimes it didn't feel like there was.
Pulling up his Phonex, Aidrian responded. "I'm about a couple minutes away. Get a couple more guards to get him with you, and I'll come and see to the damage in a moment. I'm handling something." Of course, others would not agree that this took priority--dead men and a wrecked hallway certainly seemed the bigger issue. Turning to Ashe, he raised an eyebrow. "Yes?"ACCEPTED<<<
