Lillian paused and smiled at the young girls who had just arrived. "We should wait for them," she suggested to the others, "I don't think it's a good idea to leave them behind in a place like this."

Jack got no answer about the ghosts so he took out a small video camera and started taping the place, maybe catch a glimpse of a spirit or two. "So... Mr. Karmine, where are we gonna be stayin'?"

Two servants stepped out of a side room and Mr. Karmine gestured towards them. "These are Lara and Dale. They will be escorting you to your suites."
"Suites?!" Marina couldn't believe her ears.
"Yes, suites. We have no rooms here, except for our servants' quarters." It was funny how he said rooms like he had a bad taste in his mouth.
Hehe, you should spend a couple weeks at my place, Mr. Karmine.

"Will we each have our own suite?" Lillian asked. Mr. Karmine looked at her as if she had asked what color grass was.

"Of course," he answered, and led the group up some stairs to the bedchambers.

Of course, Lillian thought, they want to scare us out of our wits and they can't do that very well if we group together. I wonder what they'll do if we all last through the week?

"That you shall find out for yourselves," Mr. Karmine stated to Tamora as we headed up the first landing.
I seriously don't like the sound of that.
The group worked their way up the large staircase at the opposite end of the hall from the front doors. On their way they had passed what looked to be a large sitting room on the right and an extravagant ballroom on the left. Both had their sliding wooden doors open and the sunset flooded in through the high ballroom windows.
On either side of the staircase there were two branching hallways, both lined with doors. The staircase continued upwards and opened up to two more floors. At the second floor there was a banister running around the opening of the stairs and, looking up, Marina realized silent wonder that it was just so that the stairs could loop around and continue further up.
"You will all be housed on the second and third levels. The fourth and fifth floors along with the attic and basement are off limits due to safety issues."
What kind of safety issues?
"Your suites are on the third floor and the the libraries are on the second. You may gain access to the main library through the first and second floors. The dining room is just below us and can be reached by either the right hallway or the parlor."
I guess he's talking about that sitting room we passed.
As they came to a stop on the third floor Mr. Karmine turned to face them. He gestures towards Lara and Dale and says, "I will now leave you in the capable hands of Mr. and Mrs. Corelli. They will tend to your every need so, please, do not hesitate to call for them."
Marina raises her hand and says, "Mr. Karmine, how are we supposed to call Lara and Dale?"
He raises an eyebrow and lets out a short laugh, as if the answer should be completely obvious. "By the bell system of course!"
When his response was met with blank stares from the group, he seems to decide to elaborate. "Each room has a length of gold rope beside the bed, fireplace, desk, and bathtub. You simply pull on the chord and a bell assigned to that specific room rings in the kitchen and servant's quarters."
Dear lord! What is this, Cinderella?!
"Now if you'll all excuse me, I have some important matters to address. I bid you all a good evening." Mr. Karmine gives a slight bow and saunters back down the stairs.
Jeebus you'd think he owns the place

Friggin' awesome! He thought as he looked around the house. He looked over to Mr. and Mrs. Corelli. "I suppose you will be showing us to our rooms as Mr. Karmine just said."

she removed her jacket placing it on the back of a chair, walking towards them she smiled

"sorry im late, emergency kept me at work a little longer than i had anticipated, have i missed anything at all"

she smiled around the room at everyone.
