I only do it if I've been playing for too long at a time and my back is hurting. ^_^
It's very rare though. My ex bar hugs. It drives me crazy.

I don't particularly care for bar hugging, and I vowed I would never do it. It makes it easier that I don't have an arcade pad at home. haha.
I feel that if you cannot simply do it without the bar, you should probably work on that song a bit more WITHOUT it to become a stronger player.

Flareth "Every time you hump the bar, god kills a kitten!" stare It also makes hardcore players that don't cry. Actually, I personally think the only time using the bar would be ok is on a 9 or 10 footer song. nothing lower. Unless you use tons of modifiers to make things harder.

I don't use the bar, I wouldn't. It kinda bugs me when I see it, cuz I don't see its purpose.

The only times necessary to rape the bar is playing 10s, 11s, 12s, and 13s on ITG. DDR, the bar is completely unneccessary except for doubles bar raping The legend of MAX or Paranoia Survivor MAX Oni.

I use the bar as little as possible. The most I hold it is if my hand happens to be resting on it, I do so many spins anyhow, holding something back there is foreign to me. I also fall into it sometimes, so yes, I only really need it if I lose my balance. Neener on bar raping.
And no, I've never cleared a 9 foot song. If bar raping is how you do that, I'll just fail those. Or hope I get better.

I've never touched the bar.
When I see people hanging onto it for dear life while playing, I can't help but point and laugh.

Well, I am a constant victim of bar hugging. Once I started, I couldn't stop. Though now that I've been playing on a basic home pad instead of an arcade one, I'm starting to get away from it, though I am remarkably better when I bar hug.
The reason I started bar hugging was because I always couldn't find where I was on the dance pad, really, and it helped in the long run. My friends made fun of me though, even though I was way better than they were...but hey.
A lot of people think that bar hugging isn't helpful at all though. It's just a select few of us, I guess.
