Emm-Kaye kyokat So last Thursday I went to my first craft show! Woo! The frame and the painting worked really well together so the frame now holds my silk painting! The best thing I picked up was on a stand called festival of Japan. They ran a course for making Shibori silk flowers. I love them. I also bought some Kanzashi flowers to make as well. I'm looking forward to having a go at them. That's all for now! Did a Google Image search - The Shibori & Kanzashi flowers are drop dead beautiful!!!!! Were they kits for sale, or something only available at the show? I've not painted on silk before, but I have painted on fabric - and had a lot of fun with it. I've also done Batik, where you paint/draw a design on fabric with melted wax, then dye the fabric. The dye doesn't color where the wax is, so you can get some really intricate designs. Iron the fabric to melt the wax out. If desired, add more to the design with wax & dye again with a different color. I had a check on their website and can't see the kits I bought either. Perhaps they haven't stocked enough yet or something? Batik sounds fun. Another thing to have a go at.... at some point! Crafting is an addiction!

This week was a bit frantic and next week will probably be worse but... hey ho!
I continue to slowly work around the lower edging of the wedding dress. SO MANY SHELLS!! I am on the penultimate round now so not far till the main dress is complete. Then a load of weaving to do and a bit of embellishing. I am hoping to finish the edging tomorrow!
I can't wait till it's finished.... I'm rather excited! heart

Absolutely gorgeous! Whoever gets to wear that is very lucky indeed!
I must admit, I'm a wee bit jealous; I've always wanted to learn to crochet myself, but I've never been able to pick it up. [insert tear here]

It took me quite a while to teach myself with the help of a couple of books and youtube videos. I found it trickier as I had taught myself to knit first. Crochet reverses a lot of things which made it tricky. I prefer it to knitting now... funny how things work out.
However, as I have now finished the wedding dress. Going to take it to a competition on the 14th April. I have moved on to a lacy top. It is in a book called 'Crochet Innovations' by Doris CHan. If you search the book, the front cover has a lady wearing a pretty creamy coloured top. I am making that but in fuchsia. I am just under hlafway down the 2nd sleeve. After I finish the sleeve I am goiung to add the beaded trim to the neckline and the I will be finished. It takes me ages to do the beading though. crying Looks pretty when finished though!!

Thanks ^_^
So, Yesterday was the show day that I was going to enter the wedding dress in. I did enter it!
Not only did I enter it, I took first place! YAY! However, I am now onto another wedding dress. This one is in 2 ply yarn. So far I've made the back left bodice panel. Will start the right back tonight. Back to work tomorrow so production is going to slow down but I will still get a little time every nown and again.

This is a link to a person on ebay that sells the pattern. I bought a copy ages ago and am finally getting round to making it. In the recommended yarn no less! I only post the link as it has a copy of the photograph.

Oh wow, that pattern is beautiful. I knit and crochet, but crochet to me is counter-intuitive, so I'm not nearly as good at it as I am at knitting. However, that doesn't stop me from drooling over crocheted wedding dresses, hehe.

OMG it has been so long since I have been on Gaia. Life stops with work. Talk about living to work. However, it is now the hols so I end up on Gaia! I can't believe that I actually finished the link! I got first place in the show for that as well!
I am now on another(!) wedding dress. This one is taking ages. It is made in 2 pieces. A front piece and a back piece. I am making it in Petra no.3 cotton. It has a nice sheen. The bodice is a simple filet style with the squares in crochet. The skirt is pretty simple two actually. It is just shells and single treble bars. Yet, this time, there is a train on the skirt! I am making the back at the moment which has loads on increases in the middle of the back skirt so it is now rather wide. It would look great if anyone were to wear it with the slight drag created. I am only at about the length of a mini skirt at the moment. That is over 30 rows of skirt. Each row takes me just over an hour! I need about another 60ish rows of skirt before a further 33 for the train! Many hours of work to be done on this project. Once I have finished the back piece I get to start all over again and make the front piece. At least the front hasn't got as many increases so it shouldn't take quite as long to make the front piece. This is optimism.....
It is another vintage style design. I'm not sure of the age. Probably anything from 60s-80s. If I had to guess a decade, I would guess 70s because of the hairstyle on the pattern. If I ever finish it, I will post a picture. It may be a while... who knows when I will finish or when I will get on Gaia again?!
