Volvo S60 What I said was as an anti-feminist who writes a blog as the many feminist blogs are. My real belief on rape is that victims should report on their own terms and heal as much as they can. An agreeable proposition. Although to be against teh excesses and stupidity of some feminists would not make you anti-feminist. If I propose, say - women and men should be paid equally, I am being a feminist but it's a reasonable proposition. Feminism, like everything else that has become a wide movement type of things, has a lot of variations. I can say I'm against Communism but given the chance, I'd probably find at least one communist ideal I can agree to. Even if I disagree with those I have encountered.

I partially agree the feminist view on rape, but I don't particularly believe in rape culture. That's the part I disagree with. I don't believe rape culture could even be proven in a SCOTUS case because there is no solid proof it exists other than statistics. Other feminist views I don't agree with ether. One of them includes equal pay when there are statistics proving both sides of the argument. Complex Systems provided proof on equal pay in the ED feminist threads, but they disregarded it tremendously. The thing I do agree with is equal employment and combat troops. Male Gaze is something I find them nitpicking about and complaining because they're butt hurt. I don't agree with the notion that equality can be achieved, I find it to be more of a balancing act between people. Equality can never be 100% attainable.

I would argue statistics are the only proof of anything but meh. That gets disgressional. I would argue this fully but it is appearing a bit serious for a guild I must highlight is for socializing (and I probably shouldn't have responded with discussion before). I am happy to PM and discuss this, however. And in many areas, I do agree. So not much debate exists anyway. rolleyes

Mimetic Hybrid Women who take self pictures with their lips sticking out like they are a duck. My last housemate had a friend like that. She was also a pathological liar. Ah the joy in watching the scene when my housemate started sleeping with her on-again/off-again ex-boyfriend.

o_O who uses saga? I think the only time I've used it is when I'm discussing Star Wars or general fantasty series with someone. Which happens a lot less in person emo
Words that bug me: -raep/rape used jokingly. Mostly because I am a survivor of date rape and I have been struggling constantly with nightmares of the replayed violence. It's a trigger word for me when used in that manner. Will I get my panties in a twist because someone uses it? No. I already have to deal with people adjusting their whole manner around me because they know what happened to me and it's ******** irritating. I just would appreciate people realizing it's actually something painful.
-"like" being used every third word or every other word. I work around a lot of high schoolers and it seems to be a predominant trait with the girls I work with.

Most recent one that comes to mind is "The Twilight Saga." Movie franchises seem especially fond of it. It's not used quite as often as "epic" or "ground-breaking" but still kind of sucks.

Wendigo Yes, it fills me with a burning, murderous rage. No real reasoning? I'm just surprised someone dislikes that word.

It's just that there is clearly no entry requirement for something to be "epic" anymore. It's happened to other words before - awesome and terrible, for example - but the slang use lacks even the merest hint of what the word used to mean. It's like folks are bound and determined to see awe and terror and heroism in their most mundane activities.
Which, I think, robs awe and terror and heroism of something.
