Is it just me, or did they completly destroy Ray's personality in G-Revolution?

Throughout Season 1 and V-Force, he was the balanced character, suffering from both moral and loyalty dilemmas. He was the peacekeeper, and always preferred to help people when they had problems, as opposed to just defeating them. Take the battle agaisnt Salima in V-Force for example. She was possesed by Cyber-Drigger, being incredibly confused by the situation. Ray, unlike most people, decided to help her defeat Cyber-Drigger's control over her ability of rational thinking. Now you could argue that he only helped her because he wouldn't have been able to beat Salima when Cyber-Drigger was at full power. The way he acts is also fully backed up by his character history. He had no parents growing up that we knew of, it is fair to assume that he learned to take care of himself at a young age. Futhermore, he was also very helpful in his community, as shown in the flashback images in Season 1.

However in G-Revolution, it seems he is the polar opposite. He is far more stubborn and arrogant. There is no real trigger, expressed or implied, that would cause such a wild change in personality. Personally, I think they changed his personality to make more like Kai. It is common fact that Kai is the most popular character, so it only makes sense to turn one of the characters to be more like him, and Ray is pretty much the closest person to Kai throughout the whole series.

Hmm, that is a very good point. However, in the first series, he was about 13-14, correct? So that should make him about 15-16 in G-Rev. It could have been an attempt to show him maturing, but I doubt something like that, especially with a kind of character history like his, would cause such a drastic change in personality. I still reckon they tried to make him like Kai, so they could make a battle in which to overhype. Think about it, How cool would a Kai vs Kai battle be? I think that they tried to make Ray like Kai, for that very reason.

It's always good to see someone who see my point of view. 3nodding To, me it just seemed like too much of an unrealistic change. But then again, if I had my way, Ray would have been the main character. xd But in all honesty, His chactacter was 'perfect' (I put that in in inverted commas, because you can't get perfect). His personality matched fine with his history, making a very believeable character. To be honest, I don't actually like Kai's personality. It is far too cliche, and I don't think it suits well to his history, making a not so believable character. Sure he was in the abbey for his childhood, but it just didn't work for me. I guess it probably did work for the rest of you though. sweatdrop

Thank you. smile I really do think that he was perfectly fine in the first two series. In all honesty, his drastic change in personality ruined G-Revolution for me. To me, his change was completly uncalled for.

In all fairness, G-Revolution wasn't that bad, but I think it strayed to far from the original plot, and the completely over the top Ray just ruined it.

Even though it is not my place to question your opinions, I want to ask you, how is Ray more mature in G-Revolution, as opposed to the first season and/or V-Force? Somehow, I think most people would class being completely arrogant as an immature quality, and would class being a mediatior as a mature feature in a person. As far as I am concerned, he really isn't more mature in G-Rev. Infact, I believe quite the opposite.
