Mmm...I used to be heavily into Pokèmon back when I was ~10. I used to collect everything I could find that was related to it, and I still have a HUGE box full of plushies / toys in my closet. I also had about $500 worth of trading cards, but most of them I gave to a little kid down the street after I made the mistake of saying I had some (he came to my house EVERY DAY for a week begging me to give him my cards).
I fell out of the series when I started high school. Every now and then I'll play the games, but I can't stand Black/White. It no longer feels like Pokèmon...Maybe I'm just weird, but I prefer the games to not have a story. All of the Gen 1-4 games had no story - you were a child that goes on an adventure to become the best. Sure, every now and then you'll get dragged into a problem with Team Rocket or Silph Co., but otherwise it was you exploring. Now, in Black / White, you're a reincarnated hero that has to save the world. It's not fun to me.
As for the anime, I stopped watching it after the first season. It's just not entertaining to me. Even the movies no longer seem fun to me after the second movie. The "Friendship will Conquer All" theme got really, really old to me half way through the first season of Pokèmon.

One time I got my dad a POKEMON alarm clock, and he was OK with it. eek IT WAS THE LONGEST YEAR OF MY LIFE. He said he'd use it EVERYDAY.What was annoying, was that I was in Elemetary school that time,so I didn't need to wake up until like 8:00 am,BUT my dad had to wake up at SIX IN THE MORNING EVERYDAY for work. AND I was the one who had to turn the alarm clock off, because he sleept in sometimes. THE HORROR OF BEING AWAKENED FROM PEACEFUL SLEEP because of...
"GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL! YEAH,POKEMON!"
AND IT WON'T SHUT OFF,EVER unless YOU turn it off,,PLUS ITS IN A LOOP.OMG NEVER BUYING A POKEMON ALARM EVER AGAIN LOL. xd

I still play and enjoy the Pokémon games, but I stopped watching the anime sometime during Johto.

In Black/White, you're a reincarnated hero that has to save the world? =____= That's not cool, I liked the way the games consisted of the player just traveling the world. It wasn't an epic RPG, and I was cool with that. And yet I still want to try them out...they're the only Pokemon games I haven't played yet. I hear most of the actual pokemon in them were kind of a bust. The movies I like, I never got bored of them. I was a faithful follower of the anime until I saw 5 minutes of a Black/White episode. No, just...no.

The older pokemon is better, the 'futureistic' ones are like...wth man ._. ya know? the best pokemon is like when pokemon first started, as it carried on its just like...no = 3=

Bandai is releasing a Mewtwo figure. It sounds like there are a few more of these planned; Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise have all been confirmed, although they don't have release dates yet. I'm not sure whether to be happy about getting nice poseable Pokémon figures, or worried that Japan has discovered my greatest weakness. (Preorders have also been selling out pretty quickly; you're getting a CD Japan link because it's about the only store that hasn't closed preorders within a day or two. gonk Amiami has some nicer pictures, though.)

They discovered your greatest weakness, and they will exploit it to the best of their ability.
Beware.
On another note, the figure is fudging amazing and right now I just want to sit there and tinker with it... I can resist the want to buy it cause Mewtwo's not my favorite (though I am enormously fond of him...) If they make a poseable Mew or Celebi, however, I will be reduced to a begging pile of goo.
...I really want a Mew figure right now.
