"Do you believe in air? Can't see it can you. Do you believe in the cold? Can't see it can you. Do you believe in animals you haven't seen before, or places you hear about at school?" Winston shook his head, tossing another clover aside. "It's all about faith, Seon."

Win flopped down into the clover patch with a grunt, tail flopping over to lay beside him and thump the ground.

"Course I believe in fairies, I told you they tell nice stories.. I heard em before."

"As long as you don't believe in the wicked things, they don't exist," Seon pointed out. "Who is to say the so called 'nice' things aren't wicked as well? I really don't know, Winston. It seems like a very confusing subject."

He sat back on his heels, pulling another clover out of the ends of his hair. "It's terribly easy to believe the bad things," he said softly. "Particularly about yourself, I suppose. I left home to get away from the phrase 'no, you can't.' That...is somethign I really don't believe in."

His head came up, and his fire-colored eyes were cold. "No one could make me believe that."

Win glanced at him from where he lay, watching him for a long moment before replying quietly.

"I suppose we should talk about more pleasant things, hmm?" He picked at the clovers idly, thinking over happier things they could chat about. "Did you make anything with your strawberries?"

Somehow, being around Winston made Seon feel too serious- as if he brought a dark cloud wherever he went. Or maybe, it was just that Winston made things a little brighter, so he could see how dim his vision was. He lay on his stomach next to the other boy, frowning slightly as the clovers under his hands. "The strawberries....? Oh, no, I didn't. I liked them by themselves, with a little sugar- they were really too good to put into anything else.

He glanced at Winston, thoughtful. "You are a kind person."

How very random of him, Winston thought to himself. He offered a smile.

"Uh, thank you... you're uhm..." He paused, glancing back down at the clovers. "You're nice to.. a bit scary at first.. like you don't want to make friends." He looked back towards him, ears lowering. "Are we friends?"

"I suppose we might just be," Seon replied. There was a smile lurking at the corner of his lips, though he was obviously trying to hide it. He'd always wanted a puppy- Oh! That was a terrible thought. Besides, Winston seemed a bit more like a lovable stuffed animal than a puppy-comforting.

"I'm sorry if I seem distant. I don't usually like to spend much time around people, in general- but you make good company. Perhaps we could...meet some other time, when we are not busy?" He ventured, shocked at himself. "I have a room at school right now, so I'm afraid my hospitality isn't the best, but I'm working on getting a place away from the dorms."

"That sounds fun," Win nodded, picking a few more clovers to look through... he really wanted a lucky one. "I made some strawberry cakes.. we should have tea sometime and I can bring them. They're pretty good."

"That...would be nice," Seon replied, and sat up. His hair was starting to get tangled, and he carefully laid the clover on his lap while he combed the other leaves and twigs out of his hair. He pulled out another clover, setting it in his pocket with the others he was keeping.

"Ah.....it's gotten later than I expected. I should get back to my studies." He cast a look over at his companion, and for once did somethign entirely selfless- so odd. He picked up the four-leaf clover, and set it in Winston's hand. "Take care of that for me, will you? Perhaps it will be more helpful to someone who has an easier time believing in it."

crying

Winston slowly blinked, looking at the four leaf clover then up at Seon. "You can't, it's your luck.. I can't take it.. what if you need it." He sat up, frowning softly. "What if I just borrow it until tea.. and you can have it back then...?"

"Don't be silly, Winston," Seon replied, getting to his feet and digging a tie out of his pocket to get his hair out of his face. "It would be terribly rude of me to make such an offer, then withdraw it. Keep it- since you and I are now friends, then you will be my luck ,and I won't need it. YOU will need it, because I have no luck to give back."

His smile was a little bit lopsided, but not too much. "I shall expect you at tea soon, then- enjoy the weather! It never really lasts."

With that, he darted off back to his books- feeling surprisingly good about the whole encounter.

][ Journal oo1 Strawberry Tarts ]
Winston
FRESH STRAWBERRY TARTS

1 qt. fresh strawberries, (sm. to med.)
3/4 c. sugar
Dash of salt
2 tsp. fresh lemon juice
6 baked tart shells
1 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch
1 c. water
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Wash and hull berries. Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt in a small saucepan. Stir in water. Cook, stirring constantly 6 to 8 minutes or until mixture is clear and thickened. Remove from heat and add lemon juice and vanilla. Cool slightly.
Arrange whole strawberries, stem end down in tart shells. Spoon glaze over the top. Refrigerate to set glaze. Top with whipped cream. Makes 6 servings.

Delicious!

Winston needed to prepare for his tea 'party'. He wanted everything to be ready so he could invite his new friend over for another chat. He lived with his aunt, who was a trusting gal. He'd cooked breakfast for her many times, so she wouldnt get mad if he went about using the kitchen to make his tarts without exactly asking her. She was out with her 'ladies' at the garden for thier own tea, they took one together every sunday morning to discuss 'gossip' and other woman things. They all made him terribly nervous and he couldn't help blushing around all of them as they twittered about the house before leaving.

Shaking his head, he took all his ingrediants to the kitchen and set them up. He placed all his picked berries into a small metal drainer, rinsing the bits of sand off them and setting the clean berries onto a napkin to wait. He then carefully cut the ends off, throwing the stem bits and undesirables into the wastebasket beside him. He then left the berries alone and floated over to prepare the glaze. It took a few minutes to get everything mixed, then he just stood and stirred for another 8 minutes until it smelled right. He set the pan aside and darted over to arrange the tarts, pouring the glaze over each carefully. Once he found them to his liking, he set them onto a tray and put them in the icebox.

They looked so pretty. o_o Once they were done sitting, he'd top them with whipcream and serve with tea. Nodding to himself, he went about cleaning the kitchen.

Thread RP :: Erin x Winston / Lunch

Ogre

Winston was sitting in the library, looking through books for a school project. He gave a sigh, staring off into space since the book he'd been scanning through wasn't very interesting. He tapped his pencil on the pages idly, tail curled around and in his lap to keep it from being stepped on or tripped over behind him.

"Hmm... "

Akkhima
Erin entered the school library, looking to check out a book on paper airplanes, if the library had one. He had heard that such books existed, and thought it would be really fun to make some fancy planes to fly off of the roof of the building.

Inside, he saw a boy who was now beginning to seem familiar to him. He had seen him in passing before, but had never had a chance to strike up a conversation with him. Erin thought this might be a good chance.

He grabbed a random book off of the nearest shelf and went to sit across from the dark haired boy. He set down his book and introduced himelf, "Hi there. Studying hard?" he asked, "I've seen you before. My name's Erin. You're Winston, right?"

Ogre
Winston glanced up, snapping to attention since he'd almost been half-asleep.

"Oh, yes! I remember." He offered a grin, sitting up and closing his books. "Are you studying for the tests as well?" He looked down at Erin's books, ears lifting slightly as he leaned forward to peek at the cover.

Akkhima
"Yep, I am." he stated with a smile. "I'm studying for..." he looked down at the book he had grabbed to determine the subject. His face paled when he realised he had picked up a copy of Myxomycetes: A Handbook of Slime Molds. "Uhh... biology."

Ogre
"Oh, interesting..." Win's lip curled slightly at the idea of slime molds as he sat back in his chair. "I'm working on history things, all very boring... really. Do you know what time it is.. I've been in here all morning."

His face turned red as his stomach gave a low rumble. "I uh.. think I need some lunch." XD;;

Akkhima
User Image"Yeah, it's almost one o'clock already! I had a late breakfast, so I hadn't eaten lunch yet. I wasn't even really hungry, but now that you mention it, I could use something to eat." He thought a moment, "Do you want to go get something together? We could go to the cafeteria, or we could go out to a restaurant in town."

Ogre
"Have you been to town to eat?" Winston tilted his head, gathering the books he wanted to take with him together. "I've only been a few times, but never to eat there. I would like to go if you know a nice place."

He tucked the books into his bag and stood, waiting for the other boy.

Akkhima
User Image"Honestly, I have no idea what's good in town. I haven't eaten out in a real restaurant before. But, my parents sent me some spending money, and I thought it would be fun. What do you say we just head into town and see what we can find?" He put his one book on the reshelving cart, and headed for the door.

Ogre
Winston nodded, hefting his backpack over his shoulder and darted after him.

"Alright!" An adventure into town, to get lunch. Exciting. "So, what sorts of things do you like to eat?" He walked up beside him, hands in his pockets.

Akkhima
"I like most things, I'm not too picky except that I can't stand too much chocolate or pastries. I'd rather have a nice sweet fresh apple than a candy." He smiled at the thought, "but that's not too important for today's lunch. I'm kind of in the mood for a nice warm toasted sandwich. I think I've seen a sandwich shop in town... shall we go see if we can find it?"

Ogre
"Sandwiches sound delicious," Winston followed along beside him, nodding. "I like deserts... but you're right, it's not very good for a lunchtime snack. How far away do you imagine it is from here?" He glanced back at the school, wondering if they should tell someone... in case something happened. Not that anything would happen- that would be horrible. He blinked, attention snapping back to reality.

RP: Tea With Winston [ Seon x Winston ]

Britain

Seon glanced at the paper in his hand, then up at the door in front of him. Dressed very nicely, the boy tugged at one of his sleeves and wondered why he was nervous.

Winston is my friend. Friends take tea together. He invited me, there is no reason for me to be so uneasy. With a deep breath, the flame-haired boy raised a hand to the wood of the door and knocked. The paper with the address went securely back into his pocket- hopefully, this experience would go well and be repeated. He was happy being away from his family, but somehow he didn't think they had let him leave home to be such a hermit.

Ogre
Winston has JUST set up the table with all the cakes and tea bits, with a smile he darted to the door and pulled it open.

"Hello," He offered a small wave- beckoning him into the house. "Did you have a hard time finding the house?"

Win stepped aside so he could come inside, hoping he'd use the rug to dust his feet off first. Aunt would be upset if she came home to a dirt-tracked floor. o_o;

Britain
Dirt did not stick to the feet of Seon Avil. Somehow, he managed to be completely pristine, even after the walk and the warm weather outside. His head came up as Winston opened the door, eyes slightly startled...but he managed to smile. It wasn't the most normal expression from him, but it was strangely sweet when he used it.

"Hello, Winston," he said, hands moving to clasp behind his back. His chin came up, eyes settling into calm- this was good manners, after all. "I hope I'm not disturbing you."

Ogre
Winston arched an eyebrow slightly, closing the door behind Seon once he'd come inside.

"Of course not, I invited you over after all." He darted back around him, slinking into the hallway- tail swishing along behind him in control sweeps [there were china cabinets to consider.]

"The tea room is this way," He glanced over his shoulder before turning into the sitting room. Seon looked so polite and well mannered, he hoped he didn't seem like a stuffy person. He blinked, realizing he was staring at him far to long for comfort. "So- the weather is lovely today, isn't it?"

Britain
"Yes, quite," Seon murmured absently, well-trained in the art of polite discussion. He looked around the little place as he entered- certainly, it wasn't HIS family's home, but it also...seemed a lot more warm than the little apartment he'd been using.

"I do think it might rain later, but that would be good for everything outside, wouldn't it?" The flame-haired boy glanced at Winston, tucking a strand of hair behind one ear. "When we were in the garden, it felt very dry- as if the plants were starting to be a little uneasy."

Ogre
"Uneasy plants, that can't be good." He moved into the sitting room, gesturing to a seat before flopping onto the couch he'd claimed as his own. The array of tarts and tea tray were on the shiney oak coffee table, polish creating a mirror effect on the surface.

"Do you like tea?" He looked up, realizing he hadn't actually asked if he liked it or not. O_O;

Britain
Winston seemed to be very good at making Seon smile. He tried hard to keep his cool, airily dignified expression, but it just was NOT working. He took a seat gacefully, tucking his braid over his shoulder and out of the way. Winston was just so...unassuming, and somehow innocent.

"Yes, I like tea," he replied, eyes dancing, and leaned forward to peer at the tarts. "Did you really make all of these?! They are beautiful, they look as if they were made by a highly skilled chef!"

Ogre
"Oh, good- I forgot to ask you... that would have been unpleasant to give you tea and you didn't like it- although, there is some lemonaid so I suppose it wouldn't have been so bad." He poured the tea into the pretty china cups as he talked, setting the kettle aside and lifting the sugar. "Do you like it sweet?"

He smiled at the chef comment, blushing slightly. He read about it and asked questions from his aunt- but he was no 'highly skilled' cook.

"Thank you, I've made them a few times... the first batch were horrible." o_o;

Britain
"Two sugar, please," Seon replied gravely. Tea was very serious business. "My family serves high tea every Sunday- with all sorts of cakes and sandwiches and things. It has been a little strange to be here, and take tea by myself."

He looked back at the tarts, getting away from the subject of his family. "Perhaps you can come to my apartment sometime, and we can make them- I am certain my mother would love to give the recipe to her chef."

Ogre
"Sure," Winston stirred the tea and set the cup onto the saucer infront of Seon. He offered him the tray of tarts. "Have as many as you like, I have plenty in the kitchen."

He set it next to him, taking one for himself and eating it with a happy sigh. It mixed well with the tea he'd made.

"I would enjoy coming to cook with you." He grinned over his cup. "What sorts of things do you enjoy doing for fun?"

Britain
Oh- a personal question. Seon didn't really like such questions, but it wasn't about his family...and Winston was his friend. There was an obvious hesitation before he answered, as if Seon were purposefully lowering the walls that separated him from most people.

"Well...I like to read. And I like to be outside in good weather, and sometimes in bad...I don't like thunderstorms very much, but I like the rain." Seon sipped his tea carefully, making sure he didn't spill any, before reaching for a tart. They were so good! His eyes fluttered closed, and he didn't think so much about what he was saying. "I like to be around animals more than people. Birds are very smart."
