Yuki looked at Nawi. "O... okay." She said blushing. "I, uh, like fish..." She admitted, looking down. Fish was cat food! She was a bird! Cats and birds were worst enemies! She hated liking cat like things. Especially cosplaying as one. Which she loved by the way. She even had a cute pair of cat ears and a tail, that she was never going to wear in-front of Nawi-Sama. Not even if it killed her.

Yuki awoke, and blushed. Nawi's head was resting on her lap. That was... embarrassing. She brushed Nawi's hair out of her eyes, and smiled kindly. "Nawi-Sama." She whispered, shaking the girl's shoulder. "Wakey, wakey!" She got up, but first placing a pillow under Nawi's head. "You are going to be late for school!" She yelled out, from the bathroom as she took a shower. Her wings unfolded as she carefully brushed through them. Late or not, if one had had wings, they had to be well kept. Or else, who knows what would happen. She was in a better mood from yesterday. Which was a good thing.

Yuki was restless. She was bored. And she hated being alone. So, grabbing her jacket, she decided to play. In the forest. The one that supposedly had monsters.

Mana Tatsumiya.
Is what you do Justice?

It is my justice

Mana sat on her bed, wiping clean her guns. She sighed as she waited for the day to begin. Maybe she should go and hunt that ninja girl. She smirked thinking about what had happened last time she had seen Kaede in the mountains. That night was probably stuck on both of their minds. She admitted to herself she was interested in the ninja. Her personality quirks, her constant smile, her body, the way that she held herself, her attitude towards life. It was just as if Kaede was interested in nothing, yet everything at the same time. She was a big sister to the twins, and a friend to most people in the school. The girl intrigued her, that was true. Also she, for once, desired human contact. She had just broken up with her long time boyfriend captain of the biathlon club. Well, broke up was a relative term. He seemingly got tired of waiting for her to accept her feelings, and moved on. So they never were really dating. Still, she guessed it would be for the best. He only served to remind her of him. The mage she fell in love with oh so long ago.

Your justice?
You push away your love to hide who you are.

As I said. It is my justice.
Only I understand it.

Yuki entered her dorm. She was late, so late. She then ran into Mana. Her new roommate. "Ah!!" She fell back. "W... who are you?" She asked, wiping the sweat off her brow. She looked scary. Especially with the guns in her hands. She backed away slowly. "Um.... Cl... class..." She said, looking around. She wanted to leave, but that would be rude.

The girl genius entered the dorm she shared with Asakura and Tatsumiya, pausing in the entry hall to remove her shoes and set them aside, leaning her head to either side to crack her neck as she did so. Barefoot, she placed the bag of miscellaneous treats from Konoe on a nearby counter and strode into the room proper.

Despite all being of wildly disparate personalities and interests, the three had come to an easy coexistence in that each of them had their own little 'personal' areas of the room, and there was no questioning which areas belonged to whom; Asakura's contained all of her reporting paraphernalia, Tatsumiya's was a mini-arsenal of weapon-care products--all her actual weapons safely ensconsed in a gun safe--and a few Shinto-related trinkets, while her own was filled with odds and ends of various mechanical parts and other junk that did not function and served no true purpose other than to appear properly sciencey.

She found herself stopping before Tatsumiya's claimed section of the room, staring at the very neatly-organized space with a hollow sensation akin to melancholy inside her. It all looked as though the resident mercenary had been called away on business, leaving a disassembled FN P-90 midway through cleaning. Even knowing the girl would return, she was left with an inexplicable feeling of loss.

Moving almost automatically, she snatched an empty shell casing from the submachine gun and a Shinto prayer charm, tying it around the spent brass before affixing it to the frame of the window. She observed what she had done, then bowed her head silently for several moments, whispering words that would be unrecognized to anyone in the city, unless they were fans of a very small subsect of a certain genre.

With that done, she returned to her side of the room, flopping back on her bed and resting her head on her crossed arms, then staring up at the ceiling. On the nightstand beside her, a metallic device with a grid surface lit up, the grid glowing blue, and a silvery-grey hologram of a man in ancient Grecian hoplite armor looked to what Chao had done. The holographic man turned his spear and stabbed its point into the equally-holographic ground he stood on, removed his helmet with his now free hand, and lowered his head.

"Not gone, merely marching far away..." he murmured softly.

Kazumi entered the room, tired from chasing a lead that ended nowhere. Looking at her roommate, she smiled. "Hey Chao-San. I was chasing a dead lead about something like ghosts floating around. So I'm just going to hit the sack.... just so you can tell Mana once she comes back." She told Chao, "So she doesn't make too much noise. I really need my beauty sleep." She informed the other girl, before flopping on her bed to fall into a slumber. She pretty much ignored everything that Chao was doing, knowing it to be well above her knowledge on such issues. Chao would just lose her in any explanation that she would try to give.

The holographic man had vanished as soon as the sound of keys in the door had been detected, and Chao lifted her head from where she was resting as Asakura entered and told of her day. Once the paparazzi had hit the bed, Chao knew she was essentially out; she had long known that Asakura was a deep sleeper.

Chuckling, she laid her head back down and closed her eyes, if not going to sleep, then at least resting for a while. The metal device on her nightstand remained dormant.

Another body awoke, this time the reporter phenomenon Kazumi Asakura. She took out her camera, cleaning it of the dust that had picked up over the night. She was quite excited about the upcoming trip, and even more excited to be writing the report of the groups journey. And even more excited about the picture taking. She wondered how much money she would pick up this time. The last set had picked up a lot, not that anyone knew about it. Anyway, she kept the less clothed pictures to herself, she didn't want to interact with the people who would buy said pictures, now would she? She laid in bed, feeling quite lazy. She didn't want to get out, but would eventually. Maybe when Chao awoke and went down to Chao Bao Zi, then Kazumi would follow her for breakfast.

Chao awoke sweating.

Many people forgot the contents of their dreams as soon as they awoke, but Chao was not fortunate enough to count herself amongst their number. She remembered her dreams vividly, because they could hardly even be called dreams. They were memories.

Her dream memories were of death. Fire raining from the sky in a solid crimson-purple beam, instantly incinerating any buildings or living creatures it touched, superheating the skies and sending nuclear firestorms racing across cities. A massive detonation observed from hundreds of kilometers away, so distant that it took many seconds for the leading edge of sound and the pressure wave to reach her. A closer, smaller explosion, flashing green and blue pulses of energy, the chatter of automatic weapons fire. Blood of men she knew, men she considered family. A wave of energy, intense pain, and the face of an inhuman creature staring, seemingly into the depths of her soul.

Almost as if on cue, the metal device lit up, displaying the image of the Grecian man, who spoke aloud, "Good morning, Lady Lingshen. The time is currently 0557 hours, Tuesday the 12th of August. Today's weather is scheduled to have a 70% chance of rain, with temperatures in the upper fifties. We are currently experiencing a light shower."

Chao sat up somewhere in the middle of the weather report. She ran a hand through her disheveled hair, then stood up and grabbed her clothes for today, wobbling into the bathroom for her morning shower. Behind her, like the high-tech alarm clock he resembled, the holographic man blinked out, and the device 'switched off.'

Kazumi watched Chao as she went on her business. She wondered what was going through the Chinese girl's head. What was clicking up there. Also, why did she wake up and look so.... scared, if that was the right word. Except it wasn't. It wasn't even close. That was sadness, mixed with terror. As if Chao had seen things that others should never have been allowed to see. As if she was reliving them every moment of the day. Kazumi choose not to push Chao on that issue. She was nosy, true, but not nosy to the extent of where it might hurt another person. She just instead watched as Chao went to the bathroom. Kazumi did not want to get out of bed. However she made the effort, and after a few minutes with struggling with the blankets, she did manage to fall out of bed. She needed much more sleep. Less partying. This decision was made at that moment as she lay on the ground, not wanting to move from this comfortable, uncomfortable position.

She had long ago learned how to complete the actual cleaning part of a shower in a ridiculously-fast amount of time, and had never gotten out of the habit. But many mornings, she stood afterwards with her head pressed against the tile, heated water pounding against her back, letting it figuratively wash away her night terrors. Her memories.

Her gaze turned to the tub's bottom beneath her feet was hollow, eyes not seeing that which they faced. Slowly, she dragged herself back from the edge of that canyon, the abyss of despair and desolation. Shaking her head and cascading water across the interior of the shower, she squeezed her eyes shut, then opened them again, lifting her head and taking a deep breath of the steaming air.

Turning off the shower, she stepped out and dried off, paying careful attention to avoid harming the gruesome, partially-healed burn wounds on the backs of her legs. It had been over two years since they'd been treated, restoring her ability to walk, and a great deal of healing had taken place, but some sensitive scar tissue remained. It was why she always, always wore long-legged garments, and never made use of the open-air bath in the dorms. The scars were just one more part of her terrible secret.

Humming a haunting, and yet melodic tune, she finished drying herself, to include drying and braiding her hair, and dressed in her school uniform. She paused afterwards to stare at her reflection in the mirror, ensuring that she had successfully buried her darkness deep inside her for the coming day. Giving a cheery smile, she gathered her night clothes and tossed them into the hamper, then stepped out into the room at large.

Moving toward the small kitchenette, she grabbed the box of breakfast-style meat buns she had prepared the previous evening to take to class for her classmates. She glanced out the window at the rain falling, frowned slightly, then pulled on her blazer and grabbed an umbrella. Pulling the straps for both her school bag and the box of goodies over her head, she looked over at the still-snoozing Asakura.

"Hurry up, Asakura-san. Wouldn't want to be late for class-ne."

She lifted the lid of the breakfast goodies just enough to let a tantalizing waft of the hot buns drift across the room to her roommate, then headed out for school.

The Chinese genius stepped into her dorm room and removed her shoes in the entry hallway, setting them out of the way, and then removed her jacket and placed it, and her umbrella, back into the hallway closet.

Striding into the room, she lifted her arms above her head and stretched languidly, both elbows and one shoulder joint popping from the motion. Today's fact-finding mission had been a complete success, and she now had a new ally for Operation: VALID. She didn't bother leaving a mental note to have Pheidippides give full disclosure to their new friend; the AI doubtless was already compiling a presentation.

It was time to pack, she determined, but was pleasantly surprised when she came around the corner and her bed came within sight, to see her travel suitcase sitting upon the bed and already packed for the several days' trip.

The holoplate on her nightstand light up and Pheidippides' avatar flashed into place. "Welcome home and good evening, Lady Lingshen," the AI greeted. "I took the liberty of directing Unit Thirteen to prepare your suitcase for tomorrow's field trip, knowing that you would likely be busy for the entire day."

She grinned at the thought, knowing how much it would have rankled her assassin droid/bodyguard to be ordered about by the AI, given the way the two always butted heads. "How very thoughtful-ne. Thank you, Pheidippides."

The AI inclined his head. "You are most welcome, Lady Lingshen."

Packin'
⊱-------------⊹-------------⊰

Mana came in behind the Chinese genius. She herself was packing light. Changes of clothing and a few things she would undoubtedly need. She had a cache at their destination from a prior operation.

"Good Evening." She said, a little coldly. She didn't really care to fraternize, unlike before. She knew something was odd about the girl, she can feel it. She had kept her guard up the first few days she was with her. But she eased up when she realized the girl wasn't gonna do anythign hasty.

With that, she started double checking her stuff, before pulling the drawstring on the top of her large duffel.
