Romane ignored that response. Well.. It was true. The paper did say that it would rain for an extended period, but it wasn't only because of the rain she was staying up. First, there was the obvious, she had to watch the monk. Then there was that her bed was covered in animals and she refused to sleep in wet clothes. Though, standing around in them wasn't much better. Ah, well, she had coffee. ..Or, Cid had coffee. She stood back up when he took it, happy he had accepted that. ..That was a nice feeling. Fluttery. She did frown when he called it 'tea', however. They were both hot beverages, but that was coffee and she knew there was a large difference between the pair – as.. it appeared Cid was discovering.
Well, there went that momentary happiness. He didn't like the coffee! But, she liked his gift, so it meant she hadn't completely returned the favor.. He was still drinking it, though that didn't mean much if he didn't like it. “..It is coffee. It aids in cognitive performance, reaction speed and verbal memory has been shown to be enhanced after it's consumption. It also reduces the risks of several diseases and.. I enjoy the taste.” She explained, uncertain of why she had even begun to. Probably in hopes he would suddenly like it after that information. But, that seemed to only work on herself.. She held her hand out again to get the cup, “You dislike it. I apologize, would you prefer hot water instead?”

『 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Cid ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 』 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 』 Cid kept smiling. He was taking sips a lot quicker. "No no! I do enjoy it. The initial taste however. Not so much. but it's good. I like it. Very much so." He added, drinking it all. Then quickly getting up and holding the cup eagerly. "Could I please have another cup?!" Every word he was saying was a lot quicker than usual. He was... effected by the caffeine very quickly. That's what happens to someone who's never had anything caffeinated before~
Though in hindsight, if Romane was afraid of Cid, she should be more afraid of hyper Cid... 『 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

That was an.. odd shift. Romane had been drinking coffee since she was three and first figured out how to use the coffee maker, so she couldn't recall what it was like to have that first burst of energy. Plus, she hadn't offered anyone her coffee before since it was her coffee, so, once again, she didn't understand that some could be affected in such a.. frightening manner. She creased her brow at how jittery he was being, uncertain of how to take this. This was like dealing with a junkie! Pulling a giggling moron of an addict from their filthy home into her vehicle and off to the station.. this was how she remembered them to act, but.. But she had only given him coffee! This didn't make any sense unless.. there was something inside the coffee..? Did he.. did he plant drugs into her coffee grounds when she wasn't watching?! She scowled,
“Negative. Stay still, Mr. Chao.” She instructed firmly as she went into her cupboards, taking down several small boxes from the third to the right. Which test..? It could either be.. She popped open two boxes, taking a pouch out of each. One was labeled with a hot pink 'U', while the other had a baby blue 'G'. Either cocaine or methamphetamine.. She opened both, took a small sample from the coffee pot into each, and watched for the color shift. “Negative on U..” She muttered aloud to herself and tossed that one back into the box to later dispose, looking at G, “Negative on G..” She frowned and threw that one out too, then looked at the monk. ..So. He hadn't put any drugs inside the coffee.
“Are you feeling alright, Mr. Chao?” She asked while she went back into her cupboards to get a small flashlight – he could be sick! Or.. or something! She wasn't a doctor, but she had to make sure he was reacting correctly.. “Open your eyes, hold out your wrist, and breath deeply. Do you regularly, ah, get bursts of energy during nightly hours?” She flashed the light in his eyes and studied his pupils, then went to checking his pulse, listening to his breath. ..Well, if she had to call a doctor, she needed to know what symptoms he was showing!

『 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Cid ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 』 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 』 "I am just no longer tired from a long day of training, carrying panda bears, and selling hand puppets, and have not been since you gave me that wonderful tea." He said happily, before he quickly grabbed her hands. Cid being hyper meant a few things. One, he was more upbeat, he was a little less quiet, and he wasn't nearly as boring of a person. So basically, he acted exactly like everyone did when high off their mind. "Dance?" 『 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

..There wasn't anything wrong. In fact, he was perfectly healthy from what she saw! His blood pressure was a bit higher, but it wasn't dangerously so. ..Then what was going on?! No drugs, no illness, no.. anything! He claimed he was fine and - “Dance? Mr. Chao, that 'tea' is called 'coffee' and I do not believe you are alright.” Wait. ..Dancing.. he felt like dancing? Oh, this made sense! He had gone insane! Of course, she knew it! She knew that something was bound to happen! She looked at their hands and forced herself not to panic over such a simple action. There were two kinds of insane, from what she had been told. The annoying, loud sort or the dangerous, murdering kind. So far, Kuan-yin could go either way. He was holding her hands, which could be a restraint of some kind to prevent her from getting to her gun or he could be honestly wanting to dance.
She would shake him off, but then she wasn't sure how to deal with the insane. Would the sudden movement cause him to go chaotic? But, either way, he – ah, he couldn't reach his staff, which meant she was safe! She knew enough self defense to get him to release her and then unload as many bullets – no. Romane couldn't shoot him for being frightening! Then she would have to shoot everyone! “..No, no dancing – ah, show me your hand-puppets, if you would. I am curious as to what they look like.” Never mind that she had already seen them during her search.. But, she was trying to keep him occupied! And to hopefully release her so she could at least hold her gun. Not shoot it, of course, but holding it would be a much better comfort than standing there panicking.

☯ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ [ Kuan-yin Chao ] ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ☯ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ☯ Cid however, did not do what he was told immediately. Being hyper made him a bit funny after all. The young monk looked over to where he kept his things. "No matter where in the world I have traveled. In every place I have been a few things have always been the same. You smile when you are happy, frown when you are sad, you always thank others... waving always means hello, pointing is always rude..." He was rambling, but then looked back at the lady police officer, his smile back. "Music has always played, and brought joy to people. When it does people dance. However I - one who cannot be in love - has never been able to dance." He then looked again at his things. "I am asking much if I do recall. However I would like it if you were to take my request to dance Miss Romane."
He finally let go of her and walked over to his things, sitting down next to them once more. He didn't look happy at all. "Maybe not today. But someday could we? I do not know who else I could ask of such. But would like to do so before I must take my leave once more." He looked back at her and smiled; not very genuine, but a smile nonetheless. ☯ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Or he could turn a way she didn't understand. Romane watched him sit back down with a frown, rubbing her hands to warm them up again. He wasn't loud or annoying or dangerous or frightening, but.. it was odd, she couldn't describe what that was, just that she didn't like to believe she could have caused it or prevented it. He didn't seem as happy as he had been a few moments ago and she wasn't nearly as wary as she had been then. Well, spending a few hours in a small space, essentially locked in with another would force one to either get used to them or.. well, have a heart attack, in Romane's case. Since Romane wasn't dead yet, it was safe to assume she had gotten used to him. Somewhat. But, what little she was used to, it wasn't something feigned. “..I do not have experience in 'dancing'.” She said honestly and frowned again,
“Perhaps, someday.” She wasn't promising anything, but it felt to think of it as anything else. She refilled the coffee mug and placed what was left of the radishes in the short fridge. “..It is unusual that you would say that as fact.” She headed to the other side of the room to stand across from him, “To claim that 'smiling' is an action to express happiness when you are currently..” She stopped and took a drink. As if she could be the one to point that out. She shifted the topic instead, “Your leave? You do not plan to stay, Mr. Chao?” Well, she hadn't recieved much of a file on him.. In fact, she had to create one herself! If she hadn't called around and investigated so much, she wouldn't even know his last name or his first or his age or birthdate.. There wasn't even a record on him. Which could be good, but it could also be.. Ah, she honestly had to stop that. She shooed away her thoughts and looked at him instead in interest.

☯ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ [ Kuan-yin Chao ] ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ☯ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ☯ Cid frowned slightly. "But it is what is commonly used to show happiness." The young monk shook his head, looking down at the wooden floor for a moment before looking back at the police officer. "I am only here for awhile. I do not know how long, but the time necessary for myself to obtain enough currency to continue my journey. It has meant giving up some luxuries such as shelter for most days, but it is the life of a wanderer such as myself. Once I am capable of, I must continue my journey to meet and learn from new people. Once my journey ends I plan to return to my temple and return to my normal way of life for the remainder of my years." It didn't sound very fun at all! He did keep his smile. He liked the idea of meeting new people, and learning all he could from them.
"It has been about two years since I began my journey." He informed her, not seeming very pleased about that. Mostly because for the time being, he was stranded here! Plus there was always a slight amount of sadness in his story; as one would expect if they thought about it for awhile. ☯ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Ah, so that explained it. But, she didn't really like that explanation. Traveling around the world?! That was dangerous! There were cultures out there that didn't have the same laws she lived by and.. and exposing oneself to so many different people was the same as walking across a minefield. Any false step could kill him yet he entered a stranger's home and.. Had he done this before? How was he possibly still alive?! Romane didn't understand it, but it seemed she found an answer to her earlier problem. To learn – hm. “The same can be accomplished through a book.” She stated, though that sounded like she was putting down his efforts..
“I am also doubtful of how much you could truly learn with such a method.” ..Right, it didn't seem like she was going to correct herself. “However, it is interesting.” She frowned – going to so many places and not being able to dance..? That was peculiar. “Though, you do not travel with a companion. Two years is an extensive time to be alone.” She took a drink and glanced at her dogs. She didn't go on long journeys, but she did understand that being by oneself wasn't the best of situations. It was why she still had her dogs, even if they annoyed her more than enough. It was unusual that she would keep them around when she rarely had time to care for them properly. “It is not safe either. Neither is a lack of shelter. Where is it that you are staying, Mr. Chao?” If he went to her home for shelter from the rain and by the way he was speaking.. it didn't sound like he was really living anywhere.

☯ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ [ Kuan-yin Chao ] ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ☯ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ☯ Cid smiled once more and shook his head. This smile was genuine, and he wasn't smiling just because. He was smiling because what Romane said was rather silly! "I do understand that Miss Romane. However most books do lack what I am seeking from speaking and learning directly from people; it is lacking the human element which gives the meaning of whatever I may be learning an actual meaning." He tried to explain. "It is not difficult to read a book on the subject of love and marriage, however through speaking with people I have been able to obtain a better understanding of both concepts in a way which could not be obtained through simple reading."
The young man stood up once more and walked over to Romane, once more he took both of her hands, and had a huge smile, showing his teeth. "I understand the meaning of actions such as this far better than those I have read on it. To hold hands is a way of showing affection. However I did not manage to obtain the explanation from one person. They said it involved more warmth and comfort than I believed." He let go of her again, but still stood in front of her. "It is not being alone which is an issue, I am far more alone in my temple. It is that I grow attached to everyone I have met; but those experiences are to grow even if they cannot last long."
Though when she asked where he was staying... Cid turned away and looked out the door. "I... do not have a residence... I do however try to spend the night at places where I cannot be seen too clearly, such as the mountain top..." ☯ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Now she was simply confused. Books were her only source of knowledge and she had been assured it was the most efficient method as far as learning went, but he was debunking it? There was enough meaning in words, she didn't need a person to explain to her how a gun worked or where the femoral was or – well, much of anything! She had and could learn all that from simple reading. A human connection wasn't necessary, it was merely the preferred method of some people like Kuan-yin. That helped get rid of that annoying confusion and she went on to watch and listen for what he had to say. ..Then it came back again at full force. Damn. Her hands were taken again, thankfully her mug was still being held firmly between them. Even through her gloves, it was still warm and she rather liked that. Mostly due to the cold, not because of the contact. She frowned when he let go and furthered that expression as he continued in that explanation of his. She still found that lonely and frightening of an idea – would she be capable of traveling like that? She didn't even have to bother answering that question because, really, anyone who knew her would know it.
“That continues to be nonsense, Mr. Chao.” Though, she did admit to herself after a few more seconds of thought that there were several things she hadn't been able to learn through books, though she did try. A book didn't explain how to treat a gift or.. well, the one's she had read never did. She followed his eyes to the door and felt shocked that he – he wasn't living anywhere?! Sleeping on a mountain? But, she had thought that he was staying at the local inn. That is where she discovered his name, after all! Though, if he didn't have enough currency to continue.. then that meant he probably didn't have enough money to stay at an inn. She stared at her coffee for a moment, finishing that in a few more sips silently in thought. Finally, with a breath, she shook her head, “You are too ignorant to be dangerous.”
She conceded and moved past him to get to the sink, “It is unsafe outside of one's home – the police and I can not be everywhere at once. You are at constant risk and I can not guarantee your safety if you persist in these conditions.” She spoke as she washed out the mug and dried it, placing it back into the cupboard. “However, I can do that much if you sleep here. There is little room, but it can not be any worse than living on a mountain. I will supply you with the basic necessities and you will remain on a curfew.” There wasn't a question in her tone – he was going to stay here while he stayed in Nirvani. She couldn't let a civilian live on their own and, besides, she enjoyed the company. There weren't many that she could deem as 'not dangerous', plus.. she did have too much money. Not that she was paid very well as an officer, but she didn't exactly have much in the way of hobbies or entertainment that would cause her to spend her paychecks. It was why she had so much equipment in her cupboards – her work really was all she could think to spend it on. She frowned again when she turned back. “My presence should not be.. a bother. I will only return to sleep and feed Korth and Mauser. I am capable of sleeping in the station provided that no one is in the holding cell, if it does become an issue.”

☯ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ [ Kuan-yin Chao ] ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ☯ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ☯ Cid had a huge smile. "I cannot thank you enough for that offer Miss Romane." He then blushed. "No. I can. It is something else which I learned of during my travels which I have yet to experience in my current lifetime..." He took a deep breath and moved his head towards Romane. To give her an affectionate sign of his gratitude!
...Meanwhile, outside.
The Sex Bullets just finished putting a lot of gasoline on a wall (the one behind Romane) and were hidden in the shadows behind the trees. If they couldn't have the panda... NO ONE COULD! The three were in a HMWV and lit an arrow on fire! Mark then aimed it at the house and shot the burning arrow! Hitting the wall. With the gasoline all over that wall, it spread quickly, and would burn away the home in seconds! They then quickly drove away, the sound of the car driving away was very loud... it was almost a surprise they drove here without setting off the dogs.
Cid was just about to kiss Romane, when he noticed... well the fire spreading quickly behind Romane! "Erm. Miss Romane I do believe that we must leave as swiftly as we are capable of to not be in harms way for it appears that there is some form of fire behind your current person!" He said as he quickly let go of her, grabbed his spade, and threw it out the window. He put on his hat and then went over to Romane, putting his cloak on her just in case, before going up the ladder to grab the panda! It was so fat and lazy that it would burn alive - unlike the dogs! ☯ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

The dogs, of course, had been busy sleeping through the racket outside like any good guard dog should! Had they been capable to do it, it is likely they would have shouted for those darn kids to quiet so they could get back to sleep! But, they weren't, so they simply stayed curled up, one on the ground, the other next to a panda. Now, even more odd was that Romane herself hadn't heard anything. But, the woman was too preoccupied with the monk. Her heartbeat drowned out whatever outside noise was behind her when he leaned in, uncertainty and panic rocketing her blood pressure. Was he honestly – but she had only just proclaimed him safe! He couldn't – he wouldn't, but he almost did! He was almost there and she was on the verge of grabbing at her gun to push him back with it, when he stopped. She froze, a peculiar warmth from behind going unnoticed. He spent yet another excessive amount of time to explain what had him stopping (not that she didn't mind, of course, but it was odd). Which, usually she liked about him because, as it had been said before, it was easier to understand what he meant with the way he spoke.
At that moment, though, she was panicked and when she finally understood his message – exactly what that growing warmth and funny smell was – she felt herself grow even more panicked. Fire?! She whipped around and confirmed that, yes, indeed, her home was on fire. Ah.. She looked back at Cid who proceeded to break her window with his spade and drop his cloak over her. Well, with wet clothes, it was doubtful – was she honestly thinking right now?! No! No, her house was on fire! She needed to get everything out – the dogs! “Korth, Mauser, exit.” She barked at the animals who were just rousing from their sleep in confusion. They may be horrible guard dogs, but they did listen to commands well enough. Or perhaps they were acting instinctively to get the hell out of a burning house. Either way, the animals were outside and Romane turned back to her cupboards to – ah! ...Oh.. Well. They were.. on fire too.. She stared at them for a moment longer before exiting to join her dogs outside.
Florence was awake as soon as Mauser had left his side. He sat up and looked around, just as confused as the dogs but not dashing out the door as they had. What – but – he didn't get it! There was smoke and fire, which he knew automatically as bad, but where it was coming from he had no clue! It wasn't until a cupboard let out a loud creak and started to fall apart under the flames heat that he stood up. Gruff, low sounds escaped him in a fright and he started to head his way down the ladder again. But – the monk who had carried him was blocking the way! He bared his teeth in a short act of aggression to try and scare him out, but he faltered when he remembered just who he was dealing with. This was Cid! The man who had carried him out – ah! Carried! He bleated and headed straight at the guy. Well, obviously, he was there to carry him around! Just like that box he had been brought over in!

☯ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ [ Kuan-yin Chao ] ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ☯ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ☯ "Do not worry morbidly obese panda for I shall help you get out of this particular predicament! He said as he reached and grabbed the panda's front paws. Then as he was pulling him back... well the ladder moved back! He grabbed the panda too... but Cid just ended up falling with the ladder, on his back, and bonking his head very hard on the ground! Didn't help that he had the panda in a somewhat mid-air hug, and thus just had that added weight on his fall! His hat just simply rolled out of the house though.
Cid, now with a head injury, walked out of the house and stopping next to Romane, forgetting about the panda... Well he had no idea how he got the panda off him, but it's not like the bear couldn't figure to run out. Cid rubbed the back of his head were he injured himself and turned to Romane. "Sammy, please tell me that everyone got out. I would hate to have to run in there just to find Lily napping...or." He shook his head. That slight moment of injury escaped him. "Ack. Are you okay Miss Romane?" He asked, as he turned to see the burning home. The rain wasn't doing a good job of putting out the fire. Mostly because gasoline was used and all... ☯ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ [FUN FACT!] Cid was originally from a zombie survival RP, there he fell for a girl named Samantha (played by Anjiru) and a friend of Peri's had a girl named Liliana (Lily) thus this Cid's bonk to the head made him think he was a Cid from a past life for a second! xD

Florence had came scampering out as soon as he was on the ground, giving up on Cid carrying him out like the damsel in distress he was. Oh, well. He still had legs and, besides, if he understood English (or Chinese) he would have heard that Cid had called him fat! Well, looks like someone wasn't getting panda perineum rubbed on them come stocking day! ..That was only if he understood Cid, though, so the monk could still count on that one.
..Romane honestly wanted to call this ironic, that her home was burning down in the rain, but she wasn't the sort who misused the term. So, instead, she simply labeled it as sad. At least she wasn't counting on the fire to keep her warm, the cloak helped in that aspect, but.. That was her home. Of only a fourth of the year, but it still had all her things. Ah, that reminded her. “I advise we leave, Mr. Chao, I have twelve containers of ammo in my cupboards. The fire will set them off shortly, if they are not already.” Twelve with fifty to a box meant around six hundred bullets, which wouldn't give them the best chances to get out unharmed. Really, it was a wonder that this place wasn't already crackling. She turned and headed out, Korth and Mauser hesitating before they, too, followed. Where else would they go?
..Then again, where was Romane heading? She frowned. In case it wasn't apparent by that point, Romane didn't trust much of anyone. And that included banks. So, now she was broke, homeless, and depressed. Was there anyone in the cell..? Well. Paprika should be, if the county hadn't come to transport her. She could call Rachel, but they were only partners. Then there was.. no, Ginger was a one-time date that ended badly, she wasn't really a 'friend'. ..In the event of a resident's house burning down with no other possible living quarters, it was her job to take them to the local shelter. But, Nirvani didn't have a shelter, or else the monk would be staying there himself. In that case, they would have to live with the mayor. ..Right, there wasn't any options. She stopped and checked her pockets. She kept.. nothing on her. Out of fear of pick pockets and due to the rain, she had left her pocket change in the usual place she kept her money. In the cabinets. With everything else. Well, time for patrol – ah. Her dogs. ..Rachel may not take her in, but she owned Sophia.. Perhaps she would take care of the dogs, at least. Plus, she had to radio in the fire. She took that off her belt, thankful she hadn't gotten undressed, and set it to the woman's frequency.
“Officer Fate, we have an 11-71 at the Bissette residence. Level, Code 1, 955.” Basically, there was a fire at her house and Rachel could come at her own convenience, considering the fire was under control due to rain. She clicked it off – Rachel should get the message eventually – and turned back to Cid. “It is required I wait for the authority to arrive. You may leave at your own discretion, Mr. Chao.”
