The Arrow whizzes by and bounces harmlessly off the stone wall. The old man gets to his feet and shouts loudly for the guards at the front entrance, who come running. In the mean time, he makes a slash at you with his sword.

You manage to dodge the attack. The other guards haven't arrived yet, but they will soon. It's your move. You may describe an attack on the old man and then roll immediately, cast a spell... or even attempt to retreat.

Well.. I don't particularly want to prolong a fight with the old man. With the other guards coming, it sounds like we're about to be outnumbered anyway. So I'll cast Sleep on him, as quickly as possible, and prepare to face the others. I'd also like to motion Triskal to stay where he is, hoping he'll have an advantage in firing at them if they can't see him right away.

You cast sleep and the old man goes down in a heap. You have 8 spells left. The other guards appear and before they can move in on you, Triskal fires a shot at the guard with the cudgel.

The Cudgel wielding bandit is hit in the leg and rolls to the turf, alive, but hobbled. The other bandit lunges at you with his shortsword. Roll.

The bandit charges, but you deftly avoid his attack, spinning out of the way in such a manner as the bandit has presented his back to you. It is a most inviting target.

I'll certainly take it. As he passes I continue the motion of the turn and lash forward with the dagger, attempting to stab him while he's caught off-guard.
