Melethia had heard the knock on her door. She was surprised. She wasn't expecting any visitors today. She had just started eating when the knock came. She made her way to the door. When she opened it she was greeted with the stern look on Rath's face. Her expression went from curious to serious. She knew it was serious. She also noticed that Rei was with him. She didn't know why the druid was there with Rath, but she wasn't wanting to find out.
"Yes, you can have a word with me." She said, "Though I'm in the middle of a meal." Melethia opened the door more so that the nomad and druid could get inside her home. This made it possible to get a better look at her.
She wasn't wearing what she normally wore outside. Her black dress was shorter. Her boots which were usually hidden within the dress was now quite visible. The mesh top she would also wear was also gone. Her gloves though were still on her hands. Her red hair was down.
"I think though it would be better if this was done inside. We wouldn't want anyone to hear what might be going on now would we?"

"You ask why do I not talk much?"_______←« _____ ←« ____ ←« ___ ←« __ ←« _____"...Because there is nothing to say."Rath ------------ Rath entered the woman's home and immediately glanced her over before she could see that he did. She was awfully laid back. It seemed odd; this was nothing like the way she presented herself in public. She acted like she had nothing to hide. In any case, Rath was not here to just look her over see how guilty she seemed. He had questions.
When the woman spoke the last part, Rath just stared at her for a moment, before responding. "No... I suppose we wouldn't." He stared for a few more seconds then took a seat at the table where Melethia was about to eat. While he waited for the other two to get settled, Rath took out what he had taken off of his horse's pack. He brought it into sight, revealing the torn tome page. He had also taken the hair with him, too, but he wouldn't play that card yet. Rath would start off his questions subtly. Just coming out with accusations would be pointless. And with the temper this woman was said to have... it would be best to ease into the conversation. "...Do you know what this is?"

Melethia had let the two people enter and she shut the door behind her. The fire sage had made her way back to the kitchen. She had come back with cups filled with some hot tea, which what was the drink for her meal. It was a tea with a little kick. She loved tea and she didn't want to be rude to her guests. Even though she could care less about Rei, she wasn't about to disrespect Rath. She was about to take a sip of her tea when she saw Rath take something out of his pouch.
"It looks like a page that was ripped out of a book." She said as she put her cup down. "But why are you showing me this?" She was confused as to why Rath would show her that.

"You ask why do I not talk much?"_______←« _____ ←« ____ ←« ___ ←« __ ←« _____"...Because there is nothing to say."Rath ------------ Rath narrowed his eyes at the response Melethia gave him. So she was going to pretend not to know anything. How typical. He already knew that she was hiding something from him, and was going to find the truth. It was time to put all the cards on the table and get down to business.
The hair was taken out and placed on the table, next to the tome page. "...And this? You mean to tell me that you don't know what this is, either? You say that the page just looks like something torn from a book." Rath picked up the paper and pointed to the writing. "I find it most peculiar that you, a user of magic, would not recognize it as a spell. In fact, I find it down right untrue."
The captain glared at the woman. "I have a witness that remembers you coming to the asylum on the day of the breakout." Rath payed close attention to any changes in expression Melethia let escape. "The spell and the hair were found at the scene of the crime. We also found a scale and if I'm not mistaken you are part dragon, and I am fairly certain dragons have scales." Rath paused for a moment but before a response could be given, he started again. "The logs of the visitors were burned. ...You tried to hide the fact that you were there."
Rath leaned forward, menacingly. "I believe you owe me an explanation. I am tired of being lied to."

Melethia sipped her tea as Rath brought out the red hair. She was letting him get it all out there. She was being She frowned a little then it turned to anger. She sent a glare the nomad's way as she put the cup down.
"How dare you accuse me of a crime," She said coldly. "You say I was at an asylum. Why would I need to go there?" Her hands were shaking, but not by fear. She was trying not to strike Rath. "That page of the tome isn't from me. I don't use a weak little fire tome. That hair isn't mine. That scale isn't mine. I haven't had my scales in about a year. I owe you an explanation. I don't need to tell you a thing! You need to leave my house!" She slammed a fist on a table and a crack was heard.

"You ask why do I not talk much?"_______←« _____ ←« ____ ←« ___ ←« __ ←« _____"...Because there is nothing to say."Rath ------------ "I'm not leaving until I hear the truth, so get comfortable!" Rath's glare held a small fire within it. "And I don't believe that I have accused you of anything yet." Clearly, she was feeling pressured. Perhaps it was guilt. His tone had risen and was on the verge of shouting. When Rath raised his voice, things were not good for the one he was speaking to.
He slammed his own hand down on the table. "I don't think you understood me. I have a witness that places you at the asylum on the day of the breakout! Not many people visit the asylum, Melethia. My witness was there the entire day until the guards who were murdered arrived to take over his shift for the night, and you were still there after he left. Visiting hours end at sundown." It was obvious that Melethia had been caught in a lie, and it made things look really bad for her. "You were the only visitor to come, that day."
The woman was obviously lying already, so there was more cause to continue on. She was probably lying about the hair and the tome page not being hers, too. Rath leaned back in his seat again and spoke with a more calm tone. "If you say that the spell doesn't belong to you, then I imagine you wouldn't mind if we have a look through your spellbooks. I think I know what we'll find, and so do you." He paused and let her calm down a little. "Or..." He started again. "You can make this easy on yourself and tell me... Why were you at the asylum, that day?"

Melethia knew she was caught. She wasn't about to show it. She wasn't going to show fear to someone like Rath. She glared even harder.
"I don't need to tell you a thing." She said. "You don't need to know why I was there. You will not get me to speak of that day. I say this once more. LEAVE!"

Rei followed Rath almost mindlessly through the town. It wasn't like he was focused on where they were going, after all. Rath was noticeable enough that he could let his mind wander a bit and still keep up. Scales, magic, and red hair. Rath was keeping it to simply one person to do the entire act, but it had Rei skeptical. The scales were a silvery-white color, and there weren't any dragons of that color anywhere in Eyris. The closest to that were Nils and Ninian, and they had blueish scales. Even then, Fire Mages were pretty...uncommon in Eyris. Was he even thinking about how it could have been someone not already in Eyris? After all, when Amara was taken, they went all of the way to Sentria, so...
Rei just held the thoughts away for now. Rath was probably smart enough to know what he was doing, and if he wasn't, then there was always his little web of information, courtesy of that Crow guy. They'd arrived at their destination, and Rei was simply waiting for someone to come to the door. When someone opened it, Rei was... he was pretty shocked. She was hardly even wearing anything, and what she was wearing made her look like those creepy women on the corners in the seedier sides of town. Whatever happened to Sages wearing robes anymore? The way she showed them inside wasn't very... wholesome, either, based on her clothes. Sure, being questioned would be better to have done in private, but just that bit alone, without any idea of what else was going on, it sure made things awkward.
The exchange between the woman and Rath started out rather... simple. He presented the evidence, she responded rather ambiguously. He presented more evidence and... flatout accuses her of being in there. To be expected, she got defensive. A rather sudden accusation, after all, so her angry response wasn't entirely proving her guilty. But, her defensive stance sure put her a bit farther from innocence. And, uncharacteristically enough, Rath was getting angry! Rei had to suppress a mean little laugh and a gleeful smile with most of his attention. It looked like the nomad had some actual emotions after all! But, they weren't very well getting answers, they were getting shown the door! Frankly, Rei wasn't willing to just have another lead dry up because of Rath. Rath kept the asylum inmate from putting himself in mortal danger, when Rei could have just healed the wound and gone through his little torture scheme. The nomad's methods sure were odd...
"Rath, you really need to work on your people skills..." Rei groaned, showing both of the bickering parties that he was quite displeased. Their bickering left Rei with more than enough time to get the Erebus tome out, in case things had gotten ugly. Luckily for him, they did! While Melethia was standing there, glaring at Rath as if Rei had stopped existing, Rei was already casting Erebus on her. It shot up from the ground to her left, wrapped around her right kneecap, then went across the back of her legs and around her left hip, holding her left arm at her side, then across her chest and around her right upper-arm. Essentially, she was an impromptu, magically-wrapped mummy, with less wrapping. Well, one thing of wrapping, to be exact. It would still do its job of keeping her from showing them the door or attacking in rage.
"Look, Sage..." he said, putting some sarcasm on the title. After all, Sages were supposed to be wise, and withholding information from, pretty much, the king of the country was not at all wise. "I almost died that day, do you understand me?!" He was pretty much just saying that to throw around the reputation he figured he had. After all, what better way to guilt trip a rational mind than to make it think about the death of a child? "But this isn't about me, this is about the countless people who did die." He tightened the tendril's grip around her, if only to give her a bit more discomfort.
"You're a suspect, maybe even the only one. All you're going to get from keeping quiet is your own grave, got it?" Rei began to focus his spell slightly, and applied more pressure to her body. Soon, her knee would probably break, followed by her hip, and then the arm, sometime later. "So come on now, loudmouth, talk!" And if she wouldn't talk, Rei sure as hell wouldn't heal any injuries he'd be giving her. As far as he was concerned, this was how you questioned someone if they weren't giving you something useful. Granted, it wouldn't even be necessary if Rath hadn't been so gruff...

Melethia's eyes went from rage to shock as Rei's Erebus grabbed her and bounded her up. She could care less what the druid had to say. He was only a child (or at least looked like one) and to her didn't have the right to speak to an adult unless spoken to.
She felt the grip get tighter until something snapped. She screamed in pain as the spell caused her knee to shatter. There was a look of pain on her face. She struggled to stay up with that pain in her knee. She could handle cuts, burns, and some stabs wounds, but broken bones wasn't something she can deal with, half-dragon or not. The only reason she wasn't on the ground right now was because Rei's spell had her in place.
"Damn it all to hell!" She yelled, "This hurts! Ah!" Melethia could feel the pressure on her hip now. She gritted her teeth in pain. She knew that was close to breaking. "I'll talk! Damn it I'll talk! I can't take this pain!" There was another loud scream. Melethia's left hip was now broken along with her right knee cap.

"You ask why do I not talk much?"_______←« _____ ←« ____ ←« ___ ←« __ ←« _____"...Because there is nothing to say."Rath ------------ She continued to not be cooperative. If she had to go this far to hide something, then she was obstructing justice, at the very least. "The things you hide protect the murderer of those that died! If it wasn't you, then just explain yourself!" Maybe a few days behind bars could change her mind. However, it seemed that Rei had a different plan in mind.
The druid said that he needed to work on people skills? He had cast a spell to immobilize Melethia and was causing her pain. Rath's eyes widened slightly at what he was seeing. This was not the way to do things. This was not how he operated. If they could find no better way to get information from a simple guild member, then they were no better than Mordache. She was a suspect, possibly a witness, but right now not a criminal! Rath would not let this stand. Once the spell was cast and pressure was being applied, Rath reached over and grabbed Rei's hand that was directing the magic. He looked at the druid angrily. "That's enough, Rei..." Seeing that the druid wasn't about to just stop so suddenly, especially since he had full control, Rath bent the hand backwards, attempting to alleviate the pressure he had on Melethia. "...I said, that's enough!"
But by then, it was too late. Melethia must have been in... a fairly bad state for her bones to have broken so soon. Maybe she had been injured and wasn't completely healed yet. Irregardless, she had given in. She was willing to talk. Rath shut his eyes then let go of Rei before turning back to face the woman. Since Rei had achieved his goal, the dark magic was probably subsiding even then. "....Then do so."

When the darkness let Melethia go she fell to the ground. With a broken kneecap and hip, there wasn't any way she could stand up. The half-dragon had a hand on her hip, hoping that would ease the pain.
"There was a reason I wasn't going to tell you things," She said while in pain, "You were probably going to arrest me for why I was there. I went there with the intent to kill a random inmate. I get the random urge to kill sometimes, usually it's just animals. I had the urge to kill more than an animal that time." She winced a little bit for the pain. She was hoping she could get healed after she talked.
"I didn't get the chance to kill anyone. As I opened the door to kill the inmate, my throat was grabbed. I dropped the tome and lock pick I had in my hands as I thrashed around, trying to get free. I was slammed into the wall. A guard came in to check in on everyone. The inmate let go of my neck and that's when the madness started. I got out of there as fast as I could. I left whatever I dropped behind." Melethia rolled herself onto her back as best she could. The pain got a little less.
"I didn't exactly get out of there unharmed. I got a few cuts, but nothing worse. I guess since I didn't look like a guard or someone who works there I wasn't that big of a target to them."

Rei began to smile as the woman squirmed about in the spell's grip. He could start wiggling her around like a buoy in the waves, or maybe even just start actually applying some pressure. The Druid had to admit, it was enjoyable having someone else's well-being in the palm of his hand for once. Rath's first little "order" to stop went in one ear and out the other. After all, she was hardly saying anything. But then, a few snapping noises slammed into Rei's ears, and his eyes widened in pure shock. He was putting as much pressure on the knee and hip as a frightened child would on a teddy bear. For her bones to just snap like that, either she was already messed up, or she had bones made out of cardboard.
And then, not even a moment later, Rath was bending Rei's hand back. He yelped, jumping a little, as Rath told Melethia to talk again. And since Rei's concentration was very broken, the Erebus spell descended back into the point on the floor it came from, and then disappeared. While the Sage was giving her story, Rei was already pulling out his Mend staff. With it, he gestured for the woman to lay down. Her upper body could probably comply without much difficulty, but the lower half wouldn't be moving much.
The moment she finished, Rei quickly made sure that her leg was as straight as it could be. At least now, Rath could get a chance to think about what she said, if he needed to. "This might sting a little." Really, he had no idea if it would sting or not. Magical healing wasn't ever very uncomfortable, but since he was mending bones, it could be an entirely different story. But, throwing caution to the wind, he focused his energy into the staff, forming a massive, nearly solid looking pale blue bubble of energy on her entire leg. Then, he did the same for the hip. A moment later, when the glowing stopped, Rei placed the staff back on his belt.
"You should be fine, if not better, but just take it easy for the rest of the day, to be safe." He smiled, coupled with a sheepish laugh. The Druid really was sorry, but he didn't think he'd put that much pressure on her, so... Maybe the spell had gotten stronger? Or maybe he got stronger without realizing it? He shrugged it off, making a note to figure out just why that'd happened sometime later.
At that point, whether Rath was going to begin talking or not, Rei stopped, giving some thought to her story. Why in the world would she just spontaneously want to kill things? And why couldn't she direct that energy at something harmful, like bandits? He sighed, thinking on how reckless her little plan was. Hardly a surprise that someone in that place would attack her when she opened their door. But still, things didn't add up. Rath and Rei had found silvery-white scales from something, and only a page of a fire tome. She still didn't explain anything like that, and if she was the only person that was seen leaving, then maybe it was an inside job?
It was at least possible. There was a mage working in the asylum, so there could be more than one. Red hair wasn't exactly rare, either. And those scales and stuff could have just come from inside the asylum, while so many of them were escaping. Wesley and Abigail had managed to have some odd things in their little basket, so maybe they even could have had some sort of porcelain container or acid or something. Things just still weren't adding up, at least from his perspective. So, he looked towards Rath, saying only "So what's your take on this?"

"You ask why do I not talk much?"_______←« _____ ←« ____ ←« ___ ←« __ ←« _____"...Because there is nothing to say."Rath ------------ Rath thought a moment about her story. Intent. That was an echoing word that shattered into pieces in Rath's mind. She had intent to kill. These urges she spoke of were similar urges that some of the inmates themselves had. Melethia had become... a threat to herself and to others.
It was good that Rei had taken the initiate to begin healing her. It spared him from having to be told to do so. for him to go out of his way to clean up that mess he made meant that he didn't mean to hurt her. At least there was that. Rath walked over to where Mel was laying and looked at her neck. It had marks on it that signified that somebody really had tried strangling her. Her story made sense. She was barely wearing much clothing, so Rath was able to inspect her torso for significant scratches from a weapon. The guard with the keys would have been the one to check on her. That guard was also the only one that really had been able to fight back. He probably would have left a significant scratch on Melethia, rather than the smaller ones she had. There was only one thing that was truly bothering Rath about the story Melethis told; they had recovered no lock pick from the scene.
In truth, Melethia's story made sense. However, it did not strike her as a suspect. Though, if somebody were guilty and was making up a story, they probably would not make up one that would land them in prison. Melethia said she went to the asylum to murder a convict... but the convicts broke out, they weren't killed. Melethia would have to go to prison for her confession. If she was guilty of causing the break out and murdering the guards, she would also go to prison. For her to be guilty didn't make sense. Rath would just have to be able to prove who it was himself.
Rath went over to the door, opened it and called the guard that was outside. "...I'll have to place you under arrest, Melethia, for your attempt at murder." Rath motioned the guard over to her. Rei was finished healing her, so the guard pulled out the binds used to arrest prisoners, and bound Melethia's hands after helping her up. "Deliver her to the asylum... I declare that her attempt at murder was a result of her mental instability. She will stay there until mentally fit to return to society..." Rath glanced at Rei out of the corner of his eye. "...Our investigation continues. Come."
Rath walked outside. He went over to his horse and stopped, shutting his eyes. It was hard to have to see a guild member placed under arrest. He waited for Rei to come out. After all, the guard needed to use the black horse to transport Melethia. Rei would have to ride with Rath. Once the druid came out, Rath turned to him and furrowed his brows. "What was that?" He spoke again before the boy could answer. "Using your spells as intimidation is one thing, but harming a member of the guild is downright unacceptable! I don't care if you didn't mean to break her bones, if I ever see you using that conduct in this investigation again, you will not continue to help!" Rath mounted his horse, while the more than likely shocked druid took in the scolding. "Get on. The bodies are waiting to be examined at the Guard barracks..."

Rei simply stood there as Rath ordered for the woman to be taken away and placed in the asylum. She kinda deserved it, if she spontaneously decided to go and kill people, after all. At the least, the Druid thought, she'd be in good enough health to last a while. Well, unless she was within an unsafe distance of someone like that inmate that nearly killed himself maybe an hour ago. But, it wasn't anywhere near his problem, and he hoped it never would be.
Once the awe of seeing someone say that they were messed up in the head and had attempted murder had passed, Rei followed Rath out of the house. Rath's brows may have furrowed from his anger, but Rei's went and did the same as he was being lectured, since he pretty much saw it coming. The moment Rath turned to get on his horse, Rei followed. Of course, he let Rath get on first, since it was his horse and all. But, as he grabbed Rath's arm to pull himself up, he applied a good bit extra pressure to the man's arm. As the Druid swung his leg over the horse's back, he started talking.
"That was about as hard as I was squeezing her body. So unless I lost control of my spell, like that'd ever happen, it probably wasn't all me." Heck, anyone could scream and fall to the ground, so she even could have been bluffing about her injuries once she decided to talk. Ideas aside, Rei was pretty bitter, but he was still helping with this investigation. Rath was at least understanding enough of that fiasco to let Rei keep going. Even if he didn't let the Druid keep tagging along, he probably still would anyway. Some sort of cliffhanger ending like that just wouldn't sit well with him, and curiosity would have him investigate on his own. But, things probably wouldn't come to that. Even with Rath's threat, Rei doubted he'd get rid of another capable mind.

xxxxx"If you're worried about surviving, xxxxxxxyou can worry about it after you're dead!" "The wyvern riders of Bern sit atop the heap of all other forces on the continent!" xxxxx "You will see our power soon!"
Back at the castle, inside the Guard barracks, it was a fairly typical day for the soldiers of Learania. Those that weren't on active duty or on downtime were busy training. Ever since Vaida took control of the Guard, training was being done at high priority. The guards were turning into true soldiers. Major changes had been made and even more were in progress.
One of the changes was the addition of two captains to the Guard's ranks. Inside the barracks, Vaida paced back and forth in front of the two, as she looked them over. One; male, blond hair, snotty. Skilled with bows and has performed excellent service out in the field in the past. Probably worried about breaking nails in combat. Name: Arashe. Two; male, teal hair, wtf batshit crazy. Skilled in lances and wyvern flight and is famous for his past. Said to have made up for his treachery and is being given a second chance. Still a douchebag. Name: Valter.
"Alright, listen up!" The Guard commander finally began. "You have been recommended to me for promotions to the captain position. This was not done by me! I could care less about either of you." She turned and faced them directly, ending her pacing. "Nevertheless! You will prove to me that you have what it takes. I will not let you bring disgrace to Learania's forces! You may be run ragged in your attempt to prove your worth, you may wish to quit, you may even wish to rip me open by the time I'm done with you. But in the end, you will come out as full fledged captains of the guard, ready to serve your country and tear apart your enemies mercilessly!" She stomped one of her feet once. "Do I make myself clear?! Good! Questions?!"
