I love foreign culture and history, and I have connections from my Fillipino aunt, to my Nigerian Unlce and South African friend, to my own home in Canada, but the only connection I have to asia is my 8 year old cousin who was adopted from south korea. I wanted to know about their culture, history , and language. I liked japanese because I like manga, but my real reason for being motiviated to pursue it is my love of language and culture.

Well in the 6th grade my friend got me interested in anime, and from there I just fell in mad undying love to a deep obsession uh... I loved Japan/ese language & Culture. :3 Ever since whenever I spoke Japanese it just felt so much more natural to me than english. I love the culture so much more than the... people in my area (*shivers in disgust*), and it has become my dream to be a famous author in Japan. (Just like Erie Yuki.)

I started out as an anime lover and wanting to be able to listen and read with out English, but it has progressed into wanting to learn more about the culture and how they do things. The only other language I have "tried" to learn is Spanish, and that doesn't exactly go purringly. In the future I hope to be a manga writer/artist, and anime film director. So I guess it still involves anime and manga. I also hope to get my first chance to go over there in a college study abroad exchange.
