My favorite place in NY is the Great Sacandaga Lake. It's just breathtaking there, and in the off-season, just before the tourists start coming in, it's the most serene, beautiful spot. I used to drive up there in the afternoons, sit by the lake shore, and let the peace just wash over me. I wrote a lot there, too. For some reason, sitting under a huge pine tree with the wind blowing kisses off the water just inspires me. But it's nice in the summer too - surrounded by the scent of lighter fluid on charcoal, kids tip-toeing to the water's edge, music mingling with the sounds of motorboats, squirrells sneaking down a tree trunk to inspect what's been left by departing picnickers... I love it there.

Ok, I live in the Adirondacks and for that reason I have to say not there. I find Niagra Falls boring, although the Canadian side is a little better. Uh, love the city, but don't get down there much. Mostly hang out in the Saratoga/ Albany area. Lake George is walking distance for me, and not a bad place in the summer, but absolutely dead in the winter. Glens Falls is not exactly exciting, but I spent much time there in high school dancing and doing plays and such. Queensbury is just plane lonely. And I don't have much of an opinion on the western part of the state since I've only driven through it.

Huntington, LI!! There are some really awesome shops and restaurants, and besides, that and Oyster Bay are basically the two towns where everyone from my school goes on the weekends...
