Anakin nodded again, assuming he was supposed to press the button on the side of the lightsaber he was holding. The thing lit up with a red blade, deflect a laser...that sounded simple enough.

The droid turned once. Anakin thought he understood what he needed to do. Block the laser and hit the droid. The droid shot out one laser. It hit Anakin in the shoulder. He let out a yelp of suprise. It hurt more then he had expected it to. A few more shots, more hits. No matter what he did he couldn't connect with the laser. It was clear he was quickly becoming frustrated.

Anakin looked at Maul in confusion, he had no idea what the other man was talking about. He got hit a few more times before successfully blocking a shot. However when he deflected it it shot off going nowhere near the droid.

Anakin nodded. And then tried even harder, knowing that he had to be doing something right. But then it seemed like the block was just a one time thing. It seemed that every single laser was hitting him. He wanted to throw the lightsaber down. His clothes were singed with tiny holes. He was angery that he couldn't do it. Angry that this guy was putting him through this. Angry at the little droid for doing this to him.
Anger is the basis of the darkside.
The next laser that came at him he swung at with the weapon hard, like a baseball player would swing at a ball. The bolt connected with the saber and went flying back at the robot.

Anakin had really hoped that the droid would have been hit by the blast. It wasn't, and that kept Anakin's anger flowing. He hated that robot, if fact, he kind of hated that man who kept talking too, even though he was trying to be helpful.
The next few shots the young boy blocked, but didn't hit the robot. At least he wasn't getting hit anymore...

Anakin wanted to reply to Maul, to say something mean and nasty, but he knew he couldn't. He had been raised with manners, and it wasn't polite to treat people rudely. Instead he suddenly just wanted to stop. There was no chance he was ever going to hit the droid. For a kid who was just holding his first lightsaber for the first time, wasn't just blocking the bolts good enough for now?

Anakin nodded. "Yes sir." He said, glad that he was allowed to rest. He had so many questions he wanted to ask. Who was this man? Jedi or Sith? And if he was this Sith, why did the Jedi think he was all so bad. He didn't seem bad to Anakin. He left the room in thought, intent on falling asleep in the first spot he found that was comfortable.
