As he fell to his back, He growled in anger, he then looked up to Sarodin attempt to help him up and was a little surprised when he knew his last name "Fine.. but only to restore my family's honor." He said as he took up the hand tightly and pulled himself up, looking around to see where his blade went to

(song- Sephiroth's theme- Final fantasy VII) -Durim's theme-
"Here." Sarodin said tossing him the weapon. "It's a fine blade, and it will be able to endure the touch of magical augmentation without breaking. Come, we are going into the cellar below the estate, we have the ceremony prepared there." Sarodin beckoned to Durim and lead him across the square into the catacomb via a trap door in the front gardens inside the walls of the estate. Upon reaching the bottom of a dimly lit stair case, they were blocked by a portcullis. "Aeol, open the way." Sarodin commanded.
A voice called out, "My lord? Right away sir." The sound of the crank rotating was followed by a clank and the rising of the portcullis. Karas a voice called from the darkness, and a fire spell lit the fifty candles on an altar. The room was walled with stone and had arches lining into a sort of hallway. The stone altar was decorated with dead roses and their petals. This was a tradition among the Gauntlet knights, representing the anguish they all had experienced. Sarodin stepped behind the altar and directed Durim to the end of the hall. The other members stood parallel to each other beneath the arches, weapons raised in a salute formation. "Walk to the altar Durim." Sarodin said. "Brothers, sisters, say the prayer."
"The souls of anguish, darkened by tragedy, enveloped by darkness. Gather together, brothers and sisters. In life we whither, in death we thrive, but we are forever kin, we are forever the Guantlet.
"Take a handful of petals, state your name proudly and do not falter, name your highest loss sincerely, and release them into the flames of the candles." Sarodin instructed. "Then I will do the rest"
Cailen entered the course. It was an old grain storage building. Cailen found the treasurer and he gave his personal information, when it came to family he said, "I think I have an uncle in Sailcine, send any money I have on my person to him, as for everything else, leave it with me when you bury the bodies." Cailen picked up his payment and went on, the rest of the rogue group following and forming a line. Well, judging by Arradian standards, this shan't be a cakewalk.

Durim reached his hand in the petals and raised him above his head "I am Durim Sinofarious of the Sinofarious royalty, I've lost my family and swear to avenge them." He said breathing in deeply and letting the petals fall from his hand and float to the different candles.

"I'M NEXT!!!" Yelled the man before Drexel into Drexel's ear. With his arms crossed and eyes half closed, Drexel watched the man excitedly enter the stadium after giving his name, choosing to pass his belongings on to the next of his kin, and move on to fight a wolf. The expression from Drexel didn't change, until the fight began when his eye lids lowered. The wolf had made short work of the ecstatic man, shredding his glee with his arms. With a sigh, Drexel moved up, gave information, decided to be buried with his belongings and chose to fight a mountain lion. Still calm, he entered the stadium and watched as the beast was released from cage. It stalked him, and Drexel stood still. Finally, the famished cat lost its temper and leaped into the air to attack Drexel. Turning quickly with widened eyes, Drexel took his whip and struck the air, stopping the lion in fear from the sound. Drexel continued to whip the lion, attempting to show dominance over the beast, as he walked closer to it. He spoke of its death and thanked it, before taking his saber, and stabbing the mountain lion in the chest. The lion sank, but was wasn't defeated, and to finish the job, Drexel whipped the vital parts of the lion's body, causing patches of blood all over the body and the lion to moan from the crack of the whip. Finally, Drexel extracted the saber of his, whipped the lion so it would stay down, and put the sword through once more, now through the skull, therefore killing the beast.
((600th post!!! Tried to make it epic.))

As the petals floated, each and everyone flew to an individual candle, truly a good omen. "Fate has spoken, and you will be granted the power of the Guantlet." Sarodin whispered, then he stepped forward and took removed a blade from it's sheath. A stiletto, the handle gold, and the blade made of pure obsidian. Sarodin took Durim by his shoulder, "Now you will learn what makes us what we are." Sarodin thrust the Stiletto quickly and painlessly through Durim's chest, and withdrew it slowly. As Durim fell Sarodin and Aeol caught him, and Sarodin held him up. He looked into his eyes as Durim slowly slipped into unconsciousness. "Welcome, my brother..."
A light cut through the darkness. In a void Durim lay, and to him came a figure dressed in a flowing robe that was tattered at the sleeves and bottom, an angelic white with a cape and hood of crimson. it stopped next to Durim and knelt next to him. It removed his hood to reveal a stunning young woman with flowing silver hair. She held a wet cloth and wiped it across his for head. She began to speak in a soft, comforting voice, "Do not burden yourself with movement young one, you must rest for the moment. You have succeeded in joining my children, and you are now one as well. You have been relieved of your anguish and lament. It is those very feelings that have shaped into the armor you will wear into battle. Now with the taint gone from your soul, and encasing you in protection, the blind rage can disperse. And only then will you be able to fulfill your intended revenge. You will go forth with my blessing my child." She removed the cloth and kissed him on the forehead, then she dispersed into the void.
"Durim, did you see her? Was she not beautiful? Now you know what we are, Knights blessed by and in service to our divine Mother, Saint Lillian. She is a servant of Luirkan, and we must aid in the search for the Ankh." Sarodin said, his voice seemed oddly rapturous. "Come Durim, we must show you your armor, a gift of Saint Lillian's."

A judge approached Drexel. "Drexel Conivar, you have shown excellent reflexes, resolve, accuracy, and strength. You are permitted entry to the army and may return to the square or observe other auditions."

Cailen took a running start, he leaped from the ground once he came upon a pit of wooden stakes. Cailen landed on the other side in a squat. He stood up and looked at the ground, several meters ahead was a trip wire triggering some type of guillotine. Cailen through a knife at the wire activate it, then jumped over the fallen blade. He then moved on, only to trigger a stone tile that sunk beneath him, and from several locations darts were blown at him. Cailen rolled past and sprinted away, he then caught sight of the tub of boiling oil meant to be pored on him. He decided that whoever maned the ropes would not be fast enough, he sprinted past it and just barely made being burned alive. He then caught site of the next gape, and jumped. He grabbed onto the bottom of a rope dangling from the ceiling, he looked down, something slithered and hid in the water, god knows what it was. He began swinging forward and backward, progressing further each time. He finally swung up to level with the other side of the gap, he landed his legs on the floor and began to pull himself up, the strain was unholy, but he made it. He crawled a few feet away from the gap, and knelt there gasping for breath. They are truly after the best of us, that rope was too far out, even for me. This is practically murder...
Cailen smiled that hated smile, sin's grin it was called by some. He would laugh if his lungs weren't heaving for breath. Cailen stood up, stretched, and ran towards the dummy, a simple target made of rope, straw, a sack cloth, and suspended on a pole. Cailen made a thrust to the side of the neck to the blood vessel, and cut the back of the neck with his arm blade. That decapitated the dummy. Cailen stood for a moment of triumph, then fell too his knees. He had done it, and almost died three times in the process. A judge emerged from the door at the end.
"Cailen, for outstanding performance, dexterity, reaction, and overall skill, you have gained a place in Terrigan's army." He said, summoning two guards to support Cailen on his way out, they laid him on a cart full of hay. He rested there, smiling the whole time.

Nodding, Drexel received his down payment and walked on, to the part of the stadium for rogues, just in time to watch Cailen be escorted out by the two guards. Looking at the course, he saw it was quite the devious contraption, and with Cailen out alive, there was quite talent to be seen. When he turned his head from Cailen, he saw the course rebuilt, minus the guillotine, which was released with the blade between the neck and the chest of some poor, over confident rogue's body. Walking to Cailen he knew only the best of the best would end up as part of this army. Meaning everyone after the auditions should be treated with the utmost respect. "I take it you succeeded in joining the army?" He asked Cailen. "And Dyani? Where was it said magisters such as herself would report for auditions?" He looked around with slightly squinted eyes, the blue reflecting light equivalent to the reflection in his hair.

Durim ((in god knows what the hell happened to the whole working my characters arms)) Opened his eyes and looked about before grabbing Sarodin's armor "You f**king stabbed me..." He growled as he covered the wound with one of his hands, seemingly ready to hurt someone

"I would be dead otherwise, would I not?" Cailen finally managed to say. "My body was almost taken to it's limits with that stunt... Of course... I can see why they would want to thin us out, they probably want the least amount of potential cutthroats in the forces." He gave a hoarse cough and sat up in the hay, partially hunched over. "How was your end? From what I heard there were plenty of hopefuls who were probably too idiotic to tell the point of the sword from the pommel."

"I apologize, Durim, but it was needed for the completion of the ceremony. I understand if you are skeptical, but what you saw was no illusion." Sarodin signaled for a knight to get a monk to heal Durim. "I apologize, but I must go attend a meeting with the prophet on terms of our service. Aeol will explain any questions you have. That wound will heal quickly, once it has we may begin teaching you on your new abilities. You will grasp them quickly and should enjoy the the results." Sarodin let Durim down carefully and exited the cellar.
Aeol was a young man in his mid twenties, he removed his helmet to show his neatly trimmed brown hair, his eyes were only half open, but they seemed to display a kind of eagerness. "Hello my brother, I would like to personally welcome you to the order on behalf of the Gauntlet. And as Patron Sarodin said, I will answer your concerns or questions. To start, that blow was not lethal, the obsidian stiletto is a magical artifact, it drains us of a good portion of our mourning, and gives it to Saint Lillian. She then crafts it into a full suit of armor, which fits each of us perfectly for out fighting abilities. Yours is waiting for you in that chest." Aeol pointed to a chest in the corner of the room. "If you are not feeling well I could get it for you... Of course, you seem like and independent person..." His words were saddened. "Durim, relax your anger. During that duel, Sarodin was toying with you, he could have ended it at the start. There was a recruit, similar to you, he got too out of control and attacked Sarodin, next thing we saw he was dead at Sarodin's feet." Aeol took a deep breath and continued. "Of course, it is not my place to judge your path. I simply wish to see you given the chance you seek."

(Roxas' theme-Kingdom Hearts) Upon hearing the last announcement, Dyani headed toward the upper part of the stadium. She was ready to be tested. To her, this pilgrimage was more than about money. It was to find out who she was, and why she couldn't remember anything, but her name when she was eight. She sighed and awaited her turn. ((OOC:Okay, so are you going to play the part of the head magister Herelen?))

"Well..." Drexel began turning back to Cailen. "There was someone, quite the annoying man, who allowed his ecstasy to get the better of him. He was taken by a wolf in a time shorter than the time it took me to give my information. I took my time, not too long but not truly in a speedy fashion. Poor lion must have been starved, I could tell which organs I had struck it was so thin." Drexel rambled. "Tell me, what animas would you have chosen to battle? I wouldn't have lasted the diabolical course." He continued, further examining the test for all rogues. Before he could say anything else, he was cut off by a guard running call his name. "Drexel Conivar, correct? You have forgotten your prize, the hide of the lion you vanquished." Handing the skin of the lion to Drexel, the guard ran off back to his post. Drexel raised one eyebrow, the other lowered.

"Hmm... Well, considering them all... The bull is an enraged creature that is killed and stripped for meat, the wolf imighty, but stupid, and seems to be very brutish but with a manner of elegance. The lion though... fast, cunning, efficient, good senses, can keep its footing on the steepest of slopes, and is scorned in the wilderness. I would have liked to face one, we seem to share a few things in common." Cailen thought for a moment. That would be interesting. "Of course, a wild, well fed lion. Not these starved circus animals they throw at us." Cailen examined the pelt. "Well, it's no great prize, but it should serve you well. Why not turn it into a blanket, or a cloak. The nights in the west are often cold. Sure we get tents and caravans, but it couldn't hurt."

"Hmm... Perhaps, I truly have no interest in keeping a lion pelt lying around. However, I have no tools for knitting. Perhaps if I obtain some dyes I can make a cloak for camouflage. But the sharpest thing I have is a fairly blunt saber, and it's the very same I killed the lion that produced this hide with." Drexel stated, observing the pelt he had obtained. "Perhaps a suit can be made? Well, we'll see, I'm sure it will come in handy." Screams could be heard soon after as a rogue was killed by missing the rope over the pit. Help was called with the blood curdling scream and then all was silent, as the course was reset.

Durim pulled himself up and and moved to the chest, opening it and pulling the helmet out and setting it to the side before pulling the rest of the armor out "Blackheart.. I believe the suit will fit us well.." He said quietly as he began piecing the armor onto himself, one by one as he slowly began to finish putting it on himself

((I'm gonna have to put this in two posts so i won't page stretch)) After what seemed like an hour of waiting, Dyani's name was finally called. She walked into a private, enchanted room which looked as if she walked outside, but it was still inside of the stadium. The scenery looked as if it were inside of the mountains. The head magister was standing watch accompanied by a panel of judges. One of the judges stood up and said, "Miss Dyani, you are to perform three spells. The first, a destructive spell. Second, a teleportation spell. And finally, a time spell which will be observed by one of us judges.
Dyani nodded. She took a deep breath and felt herself connect to the elements. She began whispering, calling the both the air and water by name. They came at her command, and Dyani directed them to come together to form a storm. It took a lot of energy to control the storm so it would stay on one side. One of the judges named Elde signaled for her to stop. Dyani whispered, "Enough." The elements obeyed her command and things calmed down. Elde walked over to Dyani and said, "I keep forgetting to bring my coin purse as of late. Your test will be to bring it here, without even knowing it's location." Dyani thought, "I've done this before. If can just know what he's like, then I'll know where to find it." She knew of this man, she studied about each of the council members and their habits. Before long, she knew the location and envisioned the coin purse. she closed her eyes and focused on the item. When she opened them, the coin purse was inside of her hand. She handed over the item. Elde looked as if he approved. He began to announce, "The final test will be the time spell. It will be observed by.." The head magister stood up and to the shock of others he said, "Me."
