He walked past the huddle of people discussing things of trivial means, and merely sniffed. "Amateurs..." He waved his armored left hand as to dismiss them from his presence. As he walked onwards towards the back of the room he brushed at his arm as if to remove some debris that was on the white leather robe. Coming to table in the corner he began to move items about, arranging it to satisfy his needs. "Whoever taught those children cheap parlor tricks should be hanged..." Reaching into an enchanted pouch at his side he pulled out a rather large old tome, upon the tome's cover was his own name in elvish, scribed in silver. Flipping open the ancient spell book he traced his finger along the inscription upon the page, mumbling the ingredients he needed to himself and got to work.

"Arrogant, are we not?" Drade appears almost instantly within the back room. "Amateurish Kane may be, but he does make use of what he does know to a better extent than most experts." Drade held back a snarl, but his bronze-eyed glare litterally burned a pattern through his sunglasses and onto the wall adjacent from him. "Ugh, I'm going to have to start going cheaper on these."

"You'll find that in most groups, Drade. People who think a little bit of power entitles them to be rude, of course," Damian spoke as he entered. He purposefully kept the microphones in his mask on high gain whenever he went to the Department of Magic or Research and Development. This habit has netted him a variety of secrets over the years.
"Regardless of the big ego, I came here to ask you about a certain artifact I have. I was originally planning on asking Kane, but as Kane's master you would be the better source. I believe it might be related to the Transcendant Stones, albeit I doubt from this world," Damian said as he stopped three feet in front of Drade. While Damian passed through the room, an observant person would notice he took special care to stay outside of five feet from the various magical experiments. An even more skilled observer would notice whenever he entered within five feet of an magical experiment, the energies of the experiment would flicker and slowly move towards Damian.

Drade began walking away from the back room. "Come this way, to the observational room, which I hope Kane at least built to specification. " He began to walk to the door marked as such and opened the door, noticing it was pitch dark. "Kid, what happened to the lights?"
"Drade-Sensei, Things don't work through magic here like they would on Evainia. I'd have had to rewire the entire compound, and make a hybrid system. There should be a light switch on the wall, left of the door."
Drade sighed and facepalmed, though outright confused by whatever this device was that his student spoke of. "Light... switch?"
"the little knobby thing. Be careful not to break it?"
Drade flicked the switch down hard enough to where there was an audible crack. "I'll fix that later..."

Damian followed Drade through the doorway, his eye automatically adjusted to the complete darkness. He purposefully made sure that he stayed more than three feet from Drade while he entered. He watched as Drade somehow through the flicking of a light switch managed to snap the entire thing in half. The light still came on though.
"Before we continue, I need to ask something important. Do you rely on magic for any basic life processes or to continue living?" Damian asked with as much concern that he could place in his mechanical voice.

"Like others of my race, my magic is generated through a series of veins, So I guess it would be safe to say I could live without it, but at the same time, much of my thought process would be diminished." He comes to a series of panels and keys surrounding a series of metal rings in the center. Turning a few knobs, a small column rises from the smallest of the rings. "Why do you ask?"

Keeping a keen ear on the others within the area while he finished his concoction. Holding up the clear green result triumphantly he laughs and sips at it. "Mmmm lemon-lime kool-aid! Bout the best thing this sorry excuse of a magic lab is good for!" Hopping up, sitting on the desk itself he watched the others intently as they entered the doorway, in one hand held the glass of juice, the other idly toyed around with a small ball of fire. "Fools.." He muttered. "None truly understand the essence of magic anymore." He sighed and looked around. "But who am I to say? I've only been around for eons..." He brushed back some hair behind his pointed ear, a clear indication of his elven heritage, and waited to see what was next.

"Daen, do you really have to be so freakishly stuck-up at times? You may be older, but sheesh, get whatever aged thing that may have crawled into your...." Kane stopped to calm himself down, but the blazing violet glare was enough indication to have heard anymore insults. It was bad enough that his mentor was doing it, but even more so that someone he barely knew happened to be. "I have work to do." He opened up a portal and walked into it, closing it behind him with a loud pop that had the effect of a door slamming.

He arched a fine golden brow, placed his hands on his hips and mocked Kane. "Do you really have to be so freakishly stuck-up at times?" Leaning back on one hand, nonchalantly waving the other, he waved off the child's antics. "You'd think the little whelp would realize his great great uncle and great grandfather treated me with respect when they were younger..." Yawning, he covered his mouth with his free hand. "Then again, kids this millennium have no respect what so ever, not even for mother earth." He turned his attention directly onto Drade, icey cold stare boring through Drade. "And you should know better child. You have more understanding than most."

Making note of the squabble between Daen and Kane, half of his face detaches from his body, hovering in a semi-gaseous state in Daen's direction. "I admire that you take note of my youth, But I assure you, I've been alive well before the one destined to become the first Kenuro was born. I respect that you've been around for a while, but seeing as I don't know you very well, and considering that I don't take too well of those who insult students under my tutelage, no matter of how many times they've skipped my classes or attempted to hide from me. But I like your style. You remind me of myself at your age." As emotionless as his features were, a barely noticable smirk appeared on his half-face as it made its way back into the observatory.

Damian visibly relaxed and spoke," Good it won't kill you instantly at least." Damian extended out one of his back limbs and closed the door to at least ignore the younger elf. After the door is closed, he reached into his shirt and removed a small azure jewel that he kept on a fine silvered chain.
The jewel was superficially similar to an azure colored Lapis Lazuli, cut emperor style. He held it up to the light where it sparkled.
"A while back due to certain problems regarding me and magic, I lost my eyes, my lungs, my vocal cords, and tongue. This mask is a useful replacement, far superior to anything natural. But alas, I was destroyed physically and rely on technology to keep me alive. The only compensation for this I received was this jewel. Where I went and why I received this, I simply do not know," Damian looked at the floor before raising his head again.
"As you may have noticed, magic is flowing towards me. Or rather, towards this jewel. As far as I can tell it absorbs magic, sending it somewhere. Once I get within roughly two feet of magical phenomenon, the pull is strong enough that it will snuff most nearby magic. With enough power, this can be overcome. However, only some of the most talented mages can overwhelm it," Damian explained. He planted two of the lower back limbs in the ground and leaned on them.
"That alone would not worry me. What worries me most is that it affects most of what we term magic, regardless of system or source. The only exceptions to this I have found have been portals, ki, and mental powers. I worry sometimes that this object is gathering energy for something, but what needs the power it has gathered, I simply don't know," Damian explained with a hint of regret in his mechanical voice.

"If it weren't for the intensity of it's draining property, I'd say it were a Trancendant stone. But even an uncharged Trancendant stone would only drain energy from the user, and not at such an extreme rate. I'd almost say it was Null Matter, but then it would be colorless, or at the very most, black, grey or white. Considering powerful mages are the only ones to be able to use it, I'd probably believe it's either a training gem for borderline apocalyptic spells, as they take vast amounts of energy, perhaps a weapon itself to disable mages from using any sort of spell, or at the very most, which I'd suggest you keep it far away from magic sources in this final case, a bomb of highly destructive proportion that requires a vast amount of magical energy to detonate. Well, let's start the analysis and find out. We may just have a powerful weapon on our hands." Drade twisted a few more knobs and started the machine, which prompted to bring out the scanners.

"So I take it that my use of it as a magical shield is highly discouraged? Regardless, it's been feeding off my magic for a long time now. I honestly do not use my powers that often because it always ends disastrously. In the few cases that my magic was necessary, I simply overpowered the draining effect. However seeing how I'm not allowed to cast anything outside of the bomb range now, I may not be the best example," Damian spoke with a near hush. Damian looked at the machine, being a little unfamiliar with it. He could guess what most of the scanners may be, but he honestly did not know.
Damian looked up at Drade and asked a little sheepishly," Where exactly do I put the stone for analysis?"

"Just set it down, right over there." He points towards the small column. "Seeing as you've overpowered it more than once, it's safe to assume it isn't a bomb, or it may need more energy for it."

"Huah.. Young.." He shook his head and laughed a bit. "I have tutored many over the years.. Most failed to finish the tasks I handed to them to complete, some of them so simplistic a 5 year old human child could do them."
Getting down off of the desk, he tilted his head. "Draining..." Highly curious about the jewel he moved forward a bit. "It's draining magic yes..." He pulled a small ring out of his pocket, and held it in Damian's vicinity, he could feel the pull of the jewel. "But it's almost as if it's trying to drain life itself. Not enough to extinguish anything...." He pulled the ring back, putting back into one of the multitude of hidden pockets within the robes. "Very Interesting.. This is completely otherworldly..."
