Jack gasped as he tried to climb back to his feet. Blood dripped from the claw marks on his chest. This..This was pain. How? You couldn't feel pain in a dream. So was this great bear real? Impossible. Rees that made people, forest spirits...None of that was real. So how could this be.
"Still you climb to your feet and dare to face me?" The Bear's voice was angry, yet at the same time, almost pleased. "I must give you credit. You have the spirit of a great bear. I almost wish I did not have to kill you." t lunged again. This time when Jack dodged, the claws scrapped across his left side of his face. There was sharp pain, as flesh tore. He felt the warm blood trickle down his cheek. How could he hope to face this thing? It was a king of beasts for God's sake!
"Why do you want me dead?" Jack panted, "I'm not the betrayer...He was sealed away, right? That's what the story said." His mind raced. As he tried to keep his mind on avoiding the claws, a voice spoke in his mind. It seemed to tell him it was coming.
"He lives." The bear roared, "He lives sealed, true, but still he lives. He was made from the emptiness in a human heart. If one of you get to the tree, then your emptiness will consume you, and YOU will become as the betrayer."
"Wait.."
"I have waited long enough! Time to die little one!" With another roar from the bear, Jack felt flesh from his chest be slashed, and he fell to his knees. His eyes were burring. Was, was this how he'd die?
Sid stepped backwards, not believing his eyes. She was...Here? No, she couldn't be. He tripped over a stick and landed on his butt. It hurt, but not to bad. The real problem was his legs refused to budge. They seemed to of lost feeling. He tried to scoot away...Why was he scared?
He had no clue what she was saying. She seemed shy, and beautiful...so why was he frightened of her? No, it wasn't fear. His heart was beating fast, and his palms were sweating. It almost felt like great joy, so why didn't he run to her? Why was he scooting away? He stopped, this was silly. Sid began to feel ashamed of his first reaction.

Hazel Wolfsbane
Hazel hugged the treeline as she flew towards where the crows had fled. Her long hair, the color of dried straw, swirled in the crosswind she fought. Of all times, why now? Why not night? The sounds were increasing, The Guardian's roar rising from a whisper to deafening. A sharp pain, like knives being dragged across her skin, caused Hazel to falter, but she forced herself to continue.
How long it took her to arrive she did not know, but catching a glimpse of the Guardian she dived. Sharp branches tore at her hair and clothes, her wings folded so they would be spared the vengeful cuts. Bursting from an oak tree, surrouded by a flurry of leaves, Hazel caught sight of the one thing she had hoped never to see again. A boy, an overwhelming feeling told her that he was the one, fell to his knees, blood pouring from jagged cuts.
Stop! If only human speach was not unknown to her. But the Guardian maybe he could hear her, being the spirit of the forest and all. In a reckless move she threw herself at the hulking mass of the bearlike spirit.

All that came next to Jack, was through a slightly blurry haze.
The beast roared, then, it seemed to calm. "Little Child...You have awoken? Then I am to late." The beast stood on its hinds legs and spoke to the girl that had fallen from the sky, "So, you have called and this little one has come. Has Great Mother Tree, truly not learned? Humans will always be tempted by the power she grants, it is in their nature."
Jack tried to stand, but blood poured out a new. The feeling..Was it coming from this girl? It felt...So lonely. A part of him wanted nothing more then to cry. Yet, his heart seemed to be full to bursting. His wounds no longer hurt. Slowly, he stood and his eyes cleared.
"Little one." The bear remark sounding tired, "Lay down and die. You have not yet fully formed your bound...So if you die, then this child may still live. I see...Those are the eyes of a bear....You will not just lay down and die, will you?" The Guardian lifted its head and made a rumbling noise in its throat. It took Jack a few minutes to realize it was laughing. "I almost wish I didn't have to kill you...You have a strong will, and desire to live. Sadly, I cannot trust one of your kind. Child..Step away from the boy, I wouldn't want you to watch me rip out his throat."

Hazel Wolfsbane
Hazel cringed for moment from the sound of the beasts roar, so close and so loud, but then turned to face it. It told her to leave, to abandon the boy. But how could she after waiting so long. Shaking her head she moved infront of the boy, spreading her wings to create a barrier between him and the rearing bear.
No! I will not leave. Human words did not come though, instead a sound reminiscent of the howling of a wolf to the moon. I'll die first." She raised her arms, a speck of light starting to grow between her hands. It may be the Guardian that she was facing but that would not stop her. If it took a fight to stop him then a fight there would be. Hazel could be banished from the forest for all she cared know. The joy that just being near her chosen one was enough to make her forsake her home and her life.

Jack didn't understand a word this girl was saying, but Old Father Bear seemed to understand just fine.
"You would forsake this? Your vary home...For the life of one boy? A boy you barley know...He is but one actor in this great play we call life. His life span is hardly that to fill a small part in this play, and still you'd give up all you have for him?" The bear gave a sigh and his voice seemed to grow tired once again, "Little Tree Child, try to understand. I do not do this because I wish to. I do it because I must. One of the chosen is a man I allowed to stay in my Forest, a man named Lawrence...I will have to kill him as well...Can you imagine how that pains me? This boy here...He has earned my respect. In the old days, my forest would be even more welcoming to him then his own home. The beasts, kinder to him then any man. But times have changed, if we allow him to live, then we will be damned. Do you still wish to protect him?"
The bear waited for a time, "Vary well then...I have no choice. For the love I feel towards Old Mother Tree...I did not wish to take your life, but now I have no choice. I am sorry Tree child...And Little human...I truly regret what must be done to you." The beast lunged forwards.
Jack without thinking, grabbed the girl and pulled her away. He felt the air from the claws blow by his face. A few more seconds...And they'd of been cut to shreds. How long could they keep dodging.
"Good little one." The Bear stood, ready for an attack, "I have attacked you long enough, not it is your turn to try and hit me. Show me the power of a human and Tree child!" Jack looked at the girl...What the hell was going on? How could all this be real? What was he supposed to do? This girl..Did she truly come from a tree? If so...Then what were they supposed to do?
"If you have a plan." He looked at the girl, "Now would be a good time to fill me in.." He prayed the Bear would give them time.

Hazel Wolfsbane
Hazel listened to Old Father Bear's explanation. They would be damned for allowing this boy to live? And the same of man called Lawrence? She did not understand just why Old Father Bear was doing this. Her mother tree had not told her of the Betrayer, for what reason, no one knew. In answer to the bear's question, the light in her hands pulsated casting a silvery glow. I'd rather be dead than live like I have any longer.
The massive creature loomed infront of Hazel. So swift was its movement that no time was left for reaction. But just as those daggers of claws were about to come down upon her, a force pulled her out of thier path.
Hazel spun to face that force. It was the boy, somehow he was up and about, his wounds no longer seeming to bother him. The situation looked bleak, just the two of them against such a great power. Poor human. How could he be ready for this? Their only chance to surive seemed to lie with thier bond but it had not yet fully formed. Hazeld couldn't even communicate with him yet!
A plan. The boy's question echoed in her mind. She faced him, still keeping Old Father Bear in her sights and reached out to touch the boys arm. There was no doubt anymore this was the one. Hopefully in the same way he knew to knew to enter the woods he would know what now to do.

As he felt the touch of the girl's arm, everything went blank for Jack. When it cleared, his eyes were closed. Something soft and warm was against his lips, and his body was pressed against something...What was it. He opened his eyes and blushed. Why had he kissed her? He pushed her off, not looking.
"What the..." The bear lunged at him. Jack panicked and his arm shot out. He felt it impact with the beast's nose, and Old Father Bear landed in a heap, still alive, but dazed.
Without waiting around, he grabbed the girl by the arm and ran. Whatever was happening..This girl had tried to save him. "You got a name?" He panted as they ran for the tree line. He could hear Old Father Bear screaming behind them. He didn't dare turn around or slow down till they busted out of the trees and into sunlight.

Madeline
Madeline walked. Correction. Madeline was not someone who just walked. She pranced. She sauntered. She sashayed. She did not walk. Walking was common, boring, mudane. Everyone walked. Madeline was not like everyone. Not like humans - for she wasn't one. Not like other tree children - for she had already been tainted. Tainted by what? By who? Madeline did not know. Nor did she care. Caring was something she normally did not do. Sometimes she did, but most of the time... No, not really. But that didn't bother her. Some things bothered her - it changed from day to day. Sometimes from hour to hour, or minute to minute. Madeline was just like that. Random. Spontenious. Picky. It was the same for her likes. Although there were a few constants. Those really stuck out, and would likely never change. But maybe they would? Who knows? Madeline didn't. She just followed her whims. Her desires. What she deemed fun. Nothing else mattered. Nothing else...
...
...Oh wait. Correction. There is one thing else. Someone. Her someone. The someone she'd been calling to since she was first just a tiny, itsy-bitsy, little seed on her birth-tree. That calling had grown louder and louder as she grew and grew. But when she bloomed, it was not the someone she had been calling to that greeted her. It was a different someone. A mean someone. A stupid, uncaring, abusing someone that Madeline had not liked at all... So, she killed him. It had been simple, easy. Who knew taking a life - a human life - was such an effortless task? It amazed her. She had been trapped because of something - for unless it was her someone, Madeline deemd all humans as 'things' - so weak and pitable? It had peeved her for about a few minutes. But then, it was forgotten. Dismissed. Just like that. For, Madeline did not dwell on things. Dwelling was boring. Not fun at all. Why mope about something that's long gone? Or in the past? Seems assinine. Seems boring. Boorrriinngg!!!
So Madeline galloped - frolicked, twirled, danced - on.

Hazel Wolfsbane
She knew full well that this was what had to happen but still Hazel was suprised when the boy kissed her. Thoughts flooded her head. Images with blazing script below them. As the boy pushed her away the images faded but what they were stayed with her. She blinked, her cheeks crimson.
Old Father Bear lunged and collapsed upon colliding with the boy. Her mother tree had spoken of this. The humans they gained powers upon bonding with a Tree Child. Was this what happened? A forboding ran through her. This was the forest Guardian they had just attacked.
No urging was needed to get her to run. Behind them the sounds of the raging spirit sent the forest into panic. It seemed everything and everyone would know of what just passed. A glimmer of light shone like a beacon from..her mind searched for the word.. a lighthouse. In the saftey of the clearing Hazel slowed down, the boy continueing on slightly farther before slowing as well.
"Ha..Hazel..Wolfsbane." Her voice faltered as she slowly tried out the words. Never before had she spoken this tongue and yet now it seemed natural. The realization that she had truly found the one she was looking for and the he, unlike the other, had not run dawned upon her. Hazel stepped forward taking ahold of the boy's hand and shook them. "Oh, thank you, thank you."

Serina snatched her hand away,"Please...don't touch me...I'll...freeze you...unintentionally..." She looked at his face and held her hands out, forming a snowball out of nothing but her powers.
"I am a Child of Winter....the heat burns me, the sun melts me... that is the reason I cannot enter....your fire....burns..." She held the perfectly shaped snow out for him to take.

"Uhm...No problem." Jack took his hand back. This girl was odd to say the least. What was her deal? Now she spoke perfect English? Before she sounded like a wild animal. And were had that strength come from? He never could of hit a bear in the face and lived before.
Wooh, slow down Jack, his mind remarked. How could this be real? How could any of this be anything but a dream? Maybe his grand parents would know...Better not risk it. They may just think he snuck off to kiss random girls...They'd never belive his story. So what now?
"So...Your really a tree child?" He asked, his mind trying to convince him the words he spoke were real. His life made no since now. Wait, what about those others the bear had talked about? Were they in danger? Great, in one moment of trying something new...His life had gone to hell.

Carissa felt someone in the clearing with her even as she was turned around to make food. Unsure of what or who, she grabbed her knife, holding it tightly in her hand, then turned.
The knife promptly hit the ground.
"E-excuse me?" Her eyes were wide, staring at the handsom guy who was transfixed by her fire. She stood up, startled. "Who are you?"

Gloria couldn't help it-she laughed quietly for a moment before worrying if he was okay. He didn't seem too hurt, more suprised than anything. Perhaps he was afraid-it wasn't an uncommon reaction. She was somewhat afraid as well. More than anything, she felt happy. The flower dropped as she held out her hand to help him up. At first she opened her mouth to ask if he was alright, but then realized how stupid that would be to ask.

Sid stared at the hand for a few minutes before taking it. How could this be? What had happened.
"Yo-how did you end up here?" He asked hardly knowing what to think. This was impossible, had she went through all this...Just to find him? He knew she was the child from the tree that called him...But couldn't belive it. This was odd. If she was the one...Then they would bound. This was allot to belive. How could he of ended up bumping into her after all this time?

~ Ј ȃ ӎ ɇ ș !!D ʉ ɴ ȡ ɨ ɐ ɳ ~ Oh dear
Uh oh. James's spine stiffened as one of the girls, flexous but unattractive to James, saunted over to him, sitting down on one of the stools and leaning in way to close for comfort. On a reflex, James scooted away, a small movement, but it was obvious the girl was a little hurt.
"Do you remember me?"
Ah...no. James did not remember her. She was just one of many...James's quick mind formed an answer with a half-smile that probably wasn't making the situation better, but James was not one to be mean to anyone, Mm, no. Actually," at this point James checked his watch, "I have to go, I'm really sorry."
It was a rather lame excuse, but the best one James could think of at the moment. As he stood up and tossed his coffee into the trash, James saw the girl's eyes narrow from the corner of his eye. Oh crud.
James hurried quickly to the register, hoping to outpace the girl without looking like an idiot. James had no idea what she was going to do, but he knew that he wasn't going to like it.
In his hurry, James wasn't quite watching where he was going and accidently bumped into the girl in front of him. He stepped back promptly, aplogizing, bracing himself for another flirt.
