I'm going to be completely honest, I ******** hate people that whore the chainsaw. I could care less about using the lancer as long as they don't rev up that bayonet. It requires no skill at all to chainsaw some one, they get within ten feet and it tractor beams you in. Oh, and its not skillful to chainsaw a team of people, it just means that team was too stupid to shotgun you will you were still chainsawing. Another thing with Gears, there is no inbetween, either you're good or you're not. Plain n' simple.

As for truly foiling the chainsaw in close range, only the host can do that. Thats because if you're host, you can melee a chainsaw away and then shotgun them. As for the rest of us, we have to Hammerburst them down, or my personal choice, no-scope them with the sniper. But either way, you can't claim true skill until you can win a blindfire shotgun duel. Thats skill, not mashing the "b***h" button the entire time.

Sorry, I'm very passionate about that sort of thing. I firmly believe that Chainsawing people just ruins others experience.

See, I tend to agree. Chainsaw is there for a reason, just use it. And besides, I love the blood splatter on the screen. Excellently awesome and morbid if you've had a stressful day at work xd

Though I have to admit, I hate people running up to me from a distance and trying to chainsaw me. That's just silly and annoyed. I don't mind in close quarters Annex or something or If I've been crouching behind a wall and been chainsawed. That's my fault because I didn't check behind me often enough or wasn't paying attention. Sucks to be me.

But honestly, I don't give two damns if I get chainsawed or do the chainsawing. I'm mature enough not to care cos It's a Game after all. It's a place where we can all escape to and kill each other for a couple of hours.

And besides, I don't think Epic games would want its fans to get so bent out of shape over something trivial? Do you?

You can't "side step" the Chainsaw, even if your a twelve feet to the right of the person, they twist to the right, tractor you in and kill you instantly. The only thing you can do when a Chainsaw rush happens is dive back and fire, and hope that it drops the saw, which is entirely random if it does or not on Gears 2.

Like I stated in my prevous post, I have no problem with the Lancer being used, as along as someone doesn't A) Hide around the corner and chainsaw me, or B) Run across the map with the chainsaw revved up and hoping to get a kill, and finally C) Chainsaw me out of the spawn. You're a n00b if you use the chainsaw in any of those ways. All of them are cheap and don't give the oppenent a chance to defend themselves.

In fact, I'm going to be honest and say, when I see low numbers (1-30) on the enemy team I use my Lancer. Just as a precaution, and only when there are around 4 of them.

Oh, and don't get me started on the "silent" chainsaw or "lag" chainsaw, whatever you prefer it to be called. Where someone shots and holds the B button so it does a instant chainsaw without the actual animation being brought into play.

You exaggerated the range of the chainsaw. Its not like 10 feet more like 2 feet (unless you have a crap connection) And gears has nothing to do with weather your good or not. I've seen a noob beat a 2 years veteran that can wall bonce the hell out of you in two shots. Gears all depends on how good your internet connection is. The better your connection the stronger/faster your guns will be. I RARELY host games and I can melee people with a revved chainsaw it takes timing. (I spent 30 minutes learning the time) you have to step into the chainsaw and melee if done right you will smack them out of it. I've done this plenty of times OFF host. And shotgun duels mean nothing it doesn't take skill to aim at the center of your screen and fire. (unless its a sniper without a active)

Two points I would like to argue:

1)"You're either good or you're not." is not true at all. I am an in-between player myself. Sometimes I do good, sometimes I do bad. There is rarely a black or white in skill level.

2)This isn't definite but you said you only use your lancer if you see low numbers (1-30). By this I am assuming you are referring to the level. If so then I will argue the point. I only get to play on live when I go to my uncle's place 1 state away, therefore, my level will naturally be low. In about a week I managed to get my level up to thirty but for some reason all Gears games decide to reset my data when another person signs in on my xbox for a split-screen LAN match, therefore my level is back down to one. Also, I've seen level 40 players that could maybe win if they were playing against a very lousy person who had just put the disc in for the first time. Level doesn't determine skill, you can just grind away at the game and eventually you will get a high level.

Yeah, it's true. Online Level is no indication of skill. I saw this player who was at like 58 on GoW and he didn't make one kill in the game. He was killed by everyone (Even me! 0__0')

1) am only level 6 an yet i'am kicking the @$$ out of people above level 30 when i play with my friends online

2)i like playing wide open levels learining to use the hammerburst and the lancer on those levels can give a large advadtage

Its funny how people are calling the lancer a noob weapon. and how only good players use the shotgun and such. But no here has mentioned how easy it is to get a kill with a shotgun. A shotgun at the right range is a instant kill just like the chainsaw on the lancer. So in a sence they're the same. So calling the lancer a noob weapon is like calling the shotgun a noob weapon. When your at close range with the shotgun all it takes is a quick trigger finger.
