Woah that made my eyes hurt. I read the book when it first came out, but it was all so ahrd to take in, I havnt re-read it yet. I still cant believe that Snape did that. I mean, I was fianally convinced her was innocent, and then this! I dont think I'll ever believe Dumbledore to really be dead.<<<

Well yeah, that's a given. But still.... He's dead. Even if the curse didn't kill him, the fall did.
Splat...
Sorry, I just caused havoc in the LOTR RPG so I'm kinda morbid right now...

I have perfected my Lucius Malfoy Theory!
To read, please highlight the section below, as it will contain many spoilers.
As you all already know, I am a supporter of the idea that Lucius Malfoy IS NOT EVIL! That's right! He may be an aristocratic b*****d at times, but he's not wholely evil as Voldemort may think.
Here's why...
First off, you have to understand my position. I think Lucius Malfoy has been doing all of these horrible things in an attempt to keep Voldemort from murdering his family.
I found that I had a hard time explaining the events of "Chamber of Secrets". However, after having a discussion with Oreparma, and then a brainstorm in the shower this morning, I think I can finally explain why Lucius did what he did with Tom's diary. First, we all know that Tom's diary was a Horcurx (or however your spell it), an object which held a fragment, one of seven, of Voldemort's soul. I think Lucius wanted the diary destroyed. I think he knew what it really was. If Lucius figured out that to destroy the diary was to destroy a piece of Voldemort's soul, then he would have to find a way TO destroy it. Remember, from my POV he wants to protect his family. Given the theory between Oreparma and myself that Lucius and Regulus Black were friends, and given the general consensus that the note in the locket near the end of HBP was written by R.A.B. (Regulus ??? Black) then it is safe to assume, along with the added info from Lupin stating that Regulus joined the Death Eaters then backed out when he realized what was at stake only to be "killed" later, it is safe to assume that Lucius may have done a bit of the same thing. However, Regulus wasn't married. He didn't have someone he would give his life to protect. Lucius did. Narcissa (and quite possibly an in-the-womb Draco). Thus, when Regulus backed out, Lucius figured that Voldemort would kill Regulus, and perhaps even extended that killing to the entire Black family. Of course the Black family were avid supporters of him, save Sirius, and so I think, so as not to have to kill all of his minions, Voldemort contented himself with killing Regulus only. However, I get the impression that Lucius' family, after already seeing how his minions might run, even if their own lives were threatened, was not safe if Lucius backed out of the Death Eaters. Thus, I think, unlike Draco in HBP, Lucius had the conviction to kill for the first time in order to protect his wife and child. If you noticed, in HBP, Draco was scared shitless of failing because he was under the impression (most likely from Voldemort himself) that his whole family would be murdered if he did not kill Dumbledore. Why could this threat have not been upon Lucius as well? The breakthrough in his actions in "Chamber of Secrets" just shows me that he wanted to be RID of the Dark Lord, knowing that someone at Hogwarts would eventually destroy Tom's diary. He couldn't do it himself in fear of retribution from fellow Death Eaters, as well as Voldemort (if he ever returned). However, I still believe that Lucius hates Dumbledore and Mudbloods alike. It's just his aristocratic nature. He is not fond of Harry, but this, I think, is in part that his family must live in fear now, waiting for Voldemort to rise again. Before, when Voldemort had power, Lucius had but to do as the Dark Lord asked and his family would be spared. I think Voldemort's downfall was seen as an uncertainty for the Malfoy's. His actions in GOF are easier to explain. He was with the Death Eaters at the World Cup to keep up appearances, and his words to Voldemort in the graveyard scene were an affirmation that he was sorry for not seeking out the Dark Lord, but that he would continue serving him. He had to protect his family. Even his action of trying to help Voldemort kill Harry was an example of his uncertainty. If Harry died, the Dark Lord would rise fully and maybe he wouldn't have to live in fear of his family being murdered. The stealing of the Prophecy is yet another example, beause he was there at the Dark Lord's bidding. If you notice, he never killed anyone, least it wasn't mentioned. His desire to kill Harry comes from his own fear over his family's protection, thus the attempted Avada Kadavra curse in CoS. I think Draco is far more like his father than he knows. I think both serve Voldemort to protect those they love. Lucius just had more to lose than his son... thus why he was successful in his first murder, and Draco not.
So, I hope that makes sense. It does in my head, but I don't think it did written down.
Tell me what you think!

Hmm. Interesting theory.
I can't actually think of anything wrong with it, but I have seen many a good theory be proven incorrect.
Though part of me does want to scream, 'ARE YOU DREAMING?' the other part agrees it could work.
I have more a theory Lucius is a rather cruel man, who doesnt even love his wife.
In my mind, Draco is trying to be a small version of his father, and unfourtunatly, is not a good enough wizard.
But then that probably doesnt make sence.
TRUST ME in my mind it does.

In my mind, Draco is trying to be a small version of his father, and unfourtunatly, is not a good enough wizard. But then that probably doesnt make sence. TRUST ME in my mind it does. Actually, the part about Draco trying to be a little Lucius makes perfect sense. I think Draco looks up to and respects his father. He wants to be like his father, yet I do not think Lucius tells Draco everything that goes on within the Dark Lord's circle. Thus, when Draco finds out in HBP, he realizes that it's not all he thought it would be. As for the not loving Narcissa, I think he does love her, but I don't think they would show that love in public. I think they're a guarded couple, who display their passions only in the company of others and probably, at times, Draco. I think Malfoy Manor is the only place they feel they can truly be themselves. As for Dobby's dislike of Lucius... just look at how Winky was treated. It wasn't simply a Malfoy thing to be mean to their house elves. I think most wizarding families are mean to house Elves. Look at how Ron never gave a ssecond thought to asking a house elf for something, while Hermione and Harry were rather reluctant, if at all. I think Lucius is cruel to keep up appearances. Aside from the usual aristocratic BS of feeling superior because of status, bloodline, wealth, and power, then I think he puts on a facade of being more ruthless than he really is. He feels insecure due to his tie to Voldemort and bullies are always bullies because they are insecure about their own status in life. heart

I THINK THAT CROOKSHANKS IS REGULUS BLACK! I mean, honestly, think about it. If Sirius can turn himself into a Dog, why couldn't Regulus, his brother, turn into a cat? Wouldn't being an Animagus be hereditary? Because of the locket thing in HBP, I don't think Regulus is really dead. He could be hiding just like Peter Pettigrew did! And think about it, the witch at the pet store in Prisoner of Azkaban said the cat had been there a really long time... AND it has a hatred for Scabbers... which could mean that it's Regulus (cause I don't think Regulus would have liked ANY of Sirius' friends). Anywho... just thought I'd throw that out there for fun! heart

It's a good theory, but JK's said that Crookshanks is half-kneezle, making him defiantly an animal. Or somehow Mr Black...no not even going there. *shudders*
