(In case you didn't know the answer to Cryoalpha's questions is no....)
"Hmm, that is a neat trick," was all Balthier had to say.
Cassandra stared at Luna and growled when she rubbed up against Julian. She was a very protective cat.
With the excitement dying down Balthier, Valen, and Julian returned to the kitchen where Tira was cooking like there were 50 people to feed instead of just 1. But no one told her that Lily was perfectly fine now for they all liked her cooking, for the most part at least.
"So captain," Julian began, "where exactly are we going?"
"You'll have to ask Valen that," Balthier replied.
"Arishaig," Valen replied. Balthier raised his eyebrows and Julian looked a little nervous about going to the Dark Elf capital. Many outsiders even till today disappeared forever in that land. Valen seemed unconcerned, "it is no as bad as it used to be."
"Well you have lived for... how long? 500 years? To us it is still quite the unpleasant place," Balthier quipped back.
Valen shrugged.
"You are a Vampire," Julian asked.
Valen nodded.
"Valen Gray of the Blood Dragon Order?"
Valen was visibly surprised on how Julian knew of him, "yes, although I have since left that order.... how do you know of me?"
"You are mentioned in some Imperial texts during the reign of Emperor Constantine. One of the many things I have learned was about the history of all of the Emperors. His reign was.... interesting to say the least. Quite an interesting person."
"Yes, I suppose so..." Valen remembered the Emperor, not very evil but a complete fool. Valen returned his attention to Balthier, "captain, I have the money to pay you. If you absolutely do not wish to go there then you can leave me in Maelmord and I will go on from there."
"I know, I know... alright, I will take you there. But I reserve the right to leave this quest when I so choose."
"Very well."
Julian was curious on what they were all doing, "quest?"
Valen didn't want to divulge all of his information to someone he had just met, even if that someone was a child. "Yes, I am searching for an ancient Drow relic... I believe it will help me in slaying an evil monster. I hope there will be more information in a temple or library in Arishaig."
"Hmm.... I am able to read two Drow dialects, including the one used by their religious leaders. Perhaps I could be of some use to you," Julian replied, eager to help.
"Perhaps," Valen answered.

Amused as always by Lily's boundless need to know everything Benvolio smiled" So it is true that puppies bite off more then they can chew. It's so endearing. No wonder your so cute. "
Laughing a little he patted her head. " I have no idea if you could learn to control the plant's Lily. I learned at my mother's feet from birth. Healing is another mater. If you joined a holy order or found a much more experienced master of the healing arts then myself? I would say.... Yes. You could learn in a few years of study." Pushing up off the floor he dusted himself off. " Before you try to learn everything try to take what you already have and make it something whole, beautiful, and unique."
Turning to the robot he raised a questioning eyebrow. " As to yourself I doubt it." His words may have sounded harsh , but his tone was soft. As much as he found the automaton repugnant Benvolio was impressed that an abomination such as the robot would want to learn a magic solely from the sake of helping living creatures.
( As a note Beni's prejudice for robots comes from his mother who will "put down " things she deems to not have souls. Mainly the undead, golems, and robots.)

(I know he can't learn magic but its just Cryoalpha's way of things is to ask questions.)
Cryoalpha seemed a little put out but he supposed it was just something he couldn't do. Maybe Lily would teach him to sing or play an instrument though. "Okay." Was all he replied as he started to get things to clean up the hallway. Cryoalpha wasn't sure if everyone on the ship really liked him. Eoma would still be the best in his eyes always anyways. That was the person who adored him for what he was and how he was. He stayed quiet though as he cleaned still a bit sad that no one treated him completly normal.
Luna wasn't near Julian for long it had only been a thanks for his help. She did however give a small little growl back, it didn't sound threatening coming out of the petite cat though. While the others were going to the kitchen she stayed near Cryoalpha mostly for curiousity reasons. She could feel emotions like a human being would have coming off of him. Saddness mostly, she sat and watched him clean up wondering why something that didn't smell alive would feel alive and give off emotions like a human.
Lily got up and smirked,"I just like to be useful is all. But your right I should practice my bard magic more. I need to learn diffrent things that can help others out. I was thinking of a tune that maybe helped everyone strike better when we get into a fight. So that none of thier attacks miss or soemthing.... its a work in progress...." She seem to think,"What was that one you did at the bar? I could tell you were using magic but I wasn't sure what the purpose was for."
She could smell Tira's delicious food already and smiled,"Maybe we should go to the kitchen and talk."

(I know, I just wasn't sure if Valencrow knew that as well. Bardic magic isn't even available for an enchantment if I recall correctly...)
"Ok," Balthier finished, "I will set our course to Arishaig..." he stood up and mumbled, "never thought I would be saying that..." He then strode off for the bridge.
Tira was making all sorts of food. In the oven she had a cake baking, on the grittle she was making pancakes, and she had a nice hot soup cooking on the stove. It was all 'comfort food' as she saw it.
There was a bit of an awkward silence when Balthier left, except for Tira's humming as she cooked. Julian decided to break the silence though and asked somewhat eagerly toward Valen, "what has it been like.... living for so long, seeing things change and all of that."
Valen had to smile, "I get that a lot from people I first meet. And to most of their surprises things haven't changed that much. Yes, there is now electricity, and airships, and motorcars and all sorts of other devices, but people haven't changed much..... take the Wood Elves of Drey Wood for instance. Their biases haven't changed much of other races. The same could be said of any of the races."
"Hmm... so, you are not fascinated by the technological developments... of even just this last century?"
"They make little difference to me. All they are are comforts, to make people's lives easier. I will take advantage of those comforts when I can but I do not need them."

In the back cargo hold Zark sat on a pile of boxes, thinking quietly to himself about accidentally shooting Lily and almost killing her. It had been an honest mistake, he thought that some horrible monster was going to attack Lily so he shot it to protect her and everyone else, but he turned out to be very wrong. Even though it was an honest mistake it didn't make him feel any better.

Vhaidra had stopped trying to get Zark to tlak and had returned to the kitchen to hear Balthier mumble and walk of. As she sat down she listened to Valen answer Julian's questions. They were honest questions that she had wanted to ask but for the most part would rather be more respetful. She wanted to know his side to everything about how her mother and father were in the old days. Vhaidra had a ot of teeming questions for Valen actually that she might never voice.
However she was excited to go to the land of the dark elves. She would be walking around with her kind and no one would stop her because of the color of her skin. This made her smile as she got up to hopefully snag a pancake or two from Tira. Getting an extra plate for Zark as well.

Julian didn't entirely understand how someone from so long ago was not amazed with technology that he took for granted. "So..... if you don't mind me asking how old are you?"
Valen smiled, and then he paused as he thought on it. His age was something he didn't think of often anymore. "I will actually be 1600 years old tomorrow."
In the kitchen a pot clanged to the floor. Tira stared wide-eyed at Valen. "And you didn't tell me!?!?!" she screamed. She was covered in flour and cake mix already. "I only have one day to prepare for your birthday!?!?!?!." She glared at him.
Valen was a bit scared and he held up his hands in self defense, "it is alright, I don't celebrate my birthdays anymore."
Tira threw her hands up into the air, "men are sooooo.... dumb!!" She then marched out of the kitchen and before leaving she yelled, "make sure to take the cake out when the alarm goes off.... the soup is done and you can make your own pancakes....." She then marched out of the kitchen and back to her room to begin planning for the greatest party in the world for the most stubborn Vampire in the world.
Julian looked a little disturbed by the display. "It's alright," Valen said, "she is always like that. You get used to it."
"Oh... I see."

" Already your working on specific songs? I'm impressed Lily. Most Bards never get past just using their feelings to impart the effects. If you work as hard at it as you do controlling your werewolf form then I'm sure bard's for centuries to come will have to add it to their favorite songs." Sitting back down at his abandoned food he took a sip of soup. " I'll tell you about that song later. It's a bit of a trade secret."

Vhaidra got some flour on her as she had been by Tira and grabbing pancakes. Chuckling a little as she filled up her plate and one for Zark. She picked up the pot and placed the soup on warm so it would still be hot for those still eating and wanted seconds. Before Vhaidra left the room she looked at Valen,"You know this means tomorrow we are having a party right? I would rather not be on her bad side so I will participate. I would suggest you did too."
Then she walked aorund looking for Zark he wasn't in his room but the cargo hold which was a nice place to think. "Benvolio healed Lily completly and I got you some food." Was all she said as she placed it down beside him. Vhaidra wasn't sure what to do next she just figured he would be hungry. So instead of sitting around and waiting for him to tlak or anythign she decided she would slowly leave, leaving him room to talk if he wanted while she could also escape an awkward situation maybe all at once.
Smiling at Benvolio's compliment she blushed lightly. Lily wasn't use to seeing that side of Tira but she smirked. "I am sure a birthday party will need music and entertainment."

It was getting late now so Valen showed Julian to his room since everyone else in the crew was busy or absent.
