The climb to the top was long and arduous. The gryphon had to pause on occasion to brave the gusts, rather than risk being swept off. But when she flt the water lap at her ankles she quickly resumed climbing.

When she finally reached the top, she curled into a ball to recover her strength.

After resting a few minutes, she raised her head from the ball of feathers she appeared to be and looked around. In the distance was a tall building. It had clearly been constructed by sentient hands, not rocks randomly thrown together. Sentient creatures were not always friendly, but buildings were a type of shelter, and she didn't see any other shelter around, though the hedges around the building looked like a small respite from the rain.

Still too windy to fly, she began walking towards the building.





~:: I close my eyes and dream::~

Still wary, the young man waits as his companion knocks at the front doors of the castle, pistol held at his side. Not quite at the ready, but not holstered either. The storm was only getting worse, and he imagined that too much longer out here and he'd come down with something due to exposure to the elements. Inwardly, though, he was hoping for a new start on this island, one where he could get away from all the violence and paranoia.

The door opens, and a small creature steps up saying "Do you have an appointment?" The creature looks like a small troll, but with huge ears.

She informed the person at the door, that no they did not have an appointment, but we would like to come in out of the storm with her friend standing next to her. Then she turn her head to see if anyone else was around, and caught the quick glance of the bird that she healed earlier on the beach. She turn her attention back to the small creature at the door. Informed him that are three more coming to the door, and to please let them get out of the storm.

After listening to the small....thing....the young man looks around and notices the cottage indicated, then gestures to the others to make sure they spot it. "I don't know about you, but I'm not keen on weathering any more of this storm outside. I'll take up that offer." And with that, he began to trudge towards the cottage, pistol still at the ready.

The gryphon had just come into view of the smaller building down the path when suddenly there was movement behind her. She turned and choked on a surprised squawk when she noticed the two-leggers coming her way.

Not wanting to be in the way in case they were unfriendly she quickly moved aside, attempting to hide. She saw them continue to the small building.

The gryphon sat down to think. The odd things were entering the small building and the large building was still some distance off and surrounded by strange plants and inhabited by other odd things.

She looked up and the cottage appeared to be big enough to allow her a hiding place, so she crept around back and climbed up the building till she reached the roof. From there she peeked over the edge, peering into a small round window that looked into darkness. She listened at it, tapped with a claw and listened again.





~:: I close my eyes and dream::~

Watching and listening from a small ways back, he notices that everyone is being directed off in a different direction, hearing about a cottage... He looks o the group again a moment later, then off in the direction the small creature pointed them in, and he heads that way.

Every now and then, he looks to the group, still keeping his distance, though at some point he notices there is another using the same tactic he is of keeping away from the main body of travelers. He chuckles slightly, glad to know he's not the only over-cautious one...

Deeper inland what seems to be a trail of destruction seems to extend for about a hundred feet. At the end of the trail lay a man who is surprisingly whole. He groans as he comes to awareness.

"I'm alive," he mumbles before energetically jumping to his feet. "I SURVIVED! I'M INVINCI-GAH!" his yell of joy is abruptly cut off as a tree branch falls on his head, knocking him unconscius once again.

Several hours later he once again groans as he returns to awareness.

"Ugh note to self, never ever claim invinciblity... ever," he states as he sits up. "Allright lets see, the last thing I remember is I was on a boat. Judging by the tree cover that is no longer the case." He looks down, "Shirt's ragged, shoes seem fine, but I seem to be missing my pants... well at least no ones around to see me."

The man stands up, wincing at the lump on the back of his head, than picks a direction and starts looking for shelter... and something to wear over his nether regions.
