"To an extent, yes." Jessi grinned, enjoying Dyf's sudden interest and .. aliveness. "I didn't 'stroll' through your head at all.. I just grabbed for a thread of happiness .. and that's what I saw from it."

"Oh. So you don't just randomly see stuff in people's heads. You have to go searching?" Dyf had heard about people that could do things like that. Sometimes he believed that uncle Lilith could if he really wanted to, but he hadn't ever actually experienced it in person. "So tell me what I'm thinking about now or is that not something you can do?"

"Do I have your permission to do so?" He smirked, flicking ashes away from Dyf as they walked towards the city. "I can if you want another demonstration."

"Sure! Why not? I've got nothing to loose." Distracted, Dyf slowly began to forget about the cold.

"Alright, keep thinking about it.. let's see." Jessi smoked idly, milling through the thoughts he could 'hear' floating around between them. "You want cocoa and whip cream... you're still worried about those classes... you want to get home to check on your turtle in a timely manner.. and you think I'm sexy." Jessi lifted an eyebrow, looking towards Dyf with a smirk. "How was that?"

Dyf stayed silent for a good long moment before figuring out how to answer without denying or confirming anything. "You do pick up on stuff don't you. How is it you can do that?"

"I don't know.. I've just always been able to. It comes in handy during tests..." He lead them across a street and through an alley, coming into the 'darker' side of the city.. most of the shady buildings and vices were located here.

"Facinating." Dyf made sure to stick close to Jessi as they walked. He had never been to this part of town and his limited vision didn't help in his confusion of where they were going to. "Where are we? I definatly don't know this part of the city at all. Is this area even safe?" Dyf learned blind fighting a while back from his father, but even so he still felt vunerable in an area where he wouldn't know where to go should Jessi suddenly decide to ditch him.

"I wouldnt call it 'safe'.. it's home, though." Jessi turned into another street, lit with neon lights from the shop windows. "This is basically a slum, a back alley neighborhood of Elysium no one really cares about."
Jessi nodded towards a set of shops ahead. "We do, however, have the best book stores, collectable shops, and novelty tea houses in the entire city." He smiled, glancing at Dyf. "Do you like tea at all?"

"I'm rather fond of tea actually... as long as it's got plenty of sugar in it." The neon lettering held a heat of it's own and Dyf smiled as he passed the various signs. "So you live out here?"

"I'm sure we can arrange that," Jessi replied, nodding to his last question. "Yeah, I have a small place above one of the bookstores. They let me rent there for almost nothing."
He paused at one of the shops, a wood hanging sign above them that read 'tea' in pretty writing. "Here we are."

"Alright." Dyf followed Jessi inside the place, taking in all the smells as he walked. He could feel his hands tingling back to life out of the cold. "Thank you for dragging me out here, by the way. I do appreciate it." Maybe he could pick something up for shmurgle while he was here. Shmurgle always enjoyed something new to munch on.

"What an odd name for a turtle," Jessi murmured, eyes amused as he paused to slip out of his over coat and place it on the hook beside the door. He waited for Dyf to follow suit. "..and it's no problem, you look like you needed it more than I did."

Dyf placed his coat and scarf on the rack. "Who said you could continue working your way through my head? Besides, Smurgle is a good name, and he likes it." His turtle had been the only one who had stuck with him, and he would defend the him in return.

"No one," Once Dyf was out of his coat, Jessi moved across the room to one of the low traditional tables. He sat down, gesturing for Dyf to join him. It was fairly warm in the room, comfortable. "He your only friend?"
