As Hedges troops were falling to the guards, as darknessbegan to cover the camp. The inexorable darkness spread a death-like cold across the valley. The hands appered. The mobs swarmed around the guards like a sea of rotten flesh. Sensing his masters urgency, Merrol was posesed by an unholy frenzy. Free magic radiated fromhis body as he rushed forward, a Katana in each hand...

Merrol As Hedges troops were falling to the guards, as darknessbegan to cover the camp. Hedge looked up, startled. He knew his apprentice would not fail him. With these reinforcements, he no longer needed to use his full power. The fire in Hedge seemed to recede, a more calm look taking him as he appeared to shrink. Still he fought, but Hands poured forward now. This battle was theirs-but was there ever any doubt?

kestrel was so excited the day had finally came when she could join her sisters and become a full member of the clayr. she stood still in front of the mirror in her room admiring her reflection, the white gown flowing around her. finally she thought to herself as she heared the gongs echoing threw the halls of the glacier. 15 minutes later she was standing at the children's end of the great hall, she felt strangly out of place the only figure in white amoungst all the blue.she stared down the hall at the voice and 9 of the other watchers all standing round the charter stone that rose from the floor. above them on the charter stone there was her ciclet, the thing that would make her a true clayr, the silver and moonstones reflecting the charter marks that danced on the stone. kestrel slowly walked down the centre of the hall, she could feel the smiling faces on either side of her, alll those years of waiting forgotten, anitisapation bubbling away inside of her. she reached the top of the hall kestrel looked at the voice of the watch, the voice a beaming smile on her face she looked down at kestrell then over her head to talk to the rest of the hall "Today the sight has awoken in Kestrel, a true Clayr and a mistress of the sight."her voice booming out over the hall yet it was still so soft and delicate, she looked back down at kestrel "we welcome you" she reached up with her metal tipped wand and took down the circlet from the charter stone and placed it on kestrels head. kestrel slowly turned around to face the rest of the clayr, they had all rose and were cheering for her. she made her way back down the hall to take her place amoungst the rest of the clayr at one of the many mahogany tables.

The sun began to rise over the hills, shedding light on a scene of death. Corpses lay over the ground, weapons lying all around, stuck in the ground, laying on their sides. The light of the sun gave it a golden sheen, and 2 long shadows lay on the ground, silloutes of the victors.
Hedge stood over the corpses of foes. All had fallen in service of their nation-Hedge saluted them mentally. They had fought well. Only 2 figures stood in this field of death. Hedge and his apprentice Merrol were the only survivors. Mentally, Hedge made a decision. Merrol had fought well and served him. He was now ready for the final step, if he was willing to take it. "Come!" Hedge yelled at Merrol. "Come, for the time is nigh. Follow me. Forget these corpses, for in the light of day a ressurection will be useless." Hedge walked off, as Merrol followed, leaving the corpses to be found in the light of day...

Out of the mist, excess free magic forms a stilken in the middle of a bog. it walks towards the light and warmth of the sun in search for blood and destruction. It shreiks after stepping into the water.

"Wait!" Hedge put out his arm to stop Merrol, following at his side. Near the edge of the battlefield, a swamp stretched out into their path. A Stilken, a free magic being had just stumbled out of the swamp. Hedge sniffed, smelling it's power. He waited to see what it would do...

The Stilken keeps walking, ignoring hedge and Merrol. It looks down and examines its wound, but thinks nothing of it. it slowly advances on a small village at least a mile away.

The Stilken didn't appear to care much for Hedge and Merrol. He must be looking for weaker prey, such as the near village. Hedge decided enough damage had been done tonight. The Abhorsen might already be heading their way. A destroying the village would attract too much attention. Hedge stepped in front of the Stilken, drawing his sword.

The Stilken looks down at Hedge and growls at him. It swings at hedge not expecting to hit. and runs around him.

With raised eyebrows, Hedge watched the Stilken run around him. It must be a fairly stupid creature. It was a good thing Hedge was feeling good today. He would spare its life. Still, he pulled Saraneth out, swinging it at the back of the retreating Stilken, focusing his power on it...

The Stilken snarls as it feels its movements become restricted. it slowly turned to hedge and with it's last strength lunged at him with claws extended, using its unnatural battlecry.

Raven Mitsurugi The Stilken snarls as it feels its movements become restricted. it slowly turned to hedge and with it's last strength lunged at him with claws extended, using its unnatural battlecry. Hedge laughed. This one had spirit, to attempt to resist Sarenth. Either that, or it was just stupid. Hedge chuckled. Well, he could fix that, now couldn't he? Hedge pulled out Belgaer, the thinking bell, with his other hand. He swung it, focusing it's power to his will- Make this creature sentient, intellegent!

It landed short a few inches from hedge and its body soon locked up. 'dammit!' was it's first thought when the second bells song washed over it.

Hedge watched the creature realize its newfound intellegence as it lay on the ground. Maybe this one could be useful.. he thought. Hedge replaced the bells. "You! Stilken! Stand up!" he commanded.

It stretched out for a second, realizing it's no longer bound, then stood up. It turned over to hedge, leaned towards him and stared at him. "sir?"
