My mom wants some magazines from Japan >>; But sadly, I doubt that means I'll be ordering sooner because very few of the books I want are out. Hellsing 10 was supposed to be out in 08, but there's still no info. Vassalord 3 won't be out till March 10.
And as reference for myself, stuff to buy and when, with stuff that probably won't be out before mid-March early April crossed out:

Edit: Awesome o: The last Biomega book should be out in March or April. Shiki should also be short (I predict 5-6 vols?). b*****d comes out too infrequently to really matter. Still no news on Hellsing 10, but I think it'll be out in March. Amatsuki seems to be slowly coming to an end as well. Really, there are only a few series that might be "dangerous."

Since the Costa Mesa Kinokuniya was the only one that had all of those in stock, that's where I had to order. Average $9.40 per book, much better than buying only the two Kuroshits, which would average $11 per book or buying them on amazon in June in a typical size order at roughly $11 per book also. Buying manga that cost more than 550 yen on Amazon sucks because of the 300 yen per book handling charge, usually ends up raising the per-book price to over $10 unless I balance it out with a bunch of cheap books like Shounen Jump ones. But given my reading tastes, that doesn't happen often.

That fills the hole in my Kuroshits... and starts another series ._.;
No shelf update photos for now. I was baaarely able to fit these in and my shelves are now really tighly filled (with the anthologies still resting horizontally). Hopefully my dad will remember to buy me a new shelf today.

I started collecting mine before I could even read kana xP And I'm sure that if you set out to learn Japanese, they would be a great learning aid. I'd like to work harder on learning the language, but I don't think I can balance that with everything else I do currently ><;

Apparently, Kai yori Hito, Kai yori Shiki... was not a one-shot, a second volume's coming out on Saturday. I bought the first book a while ago since I like Kazuaki's work, but I haven't read it yet and I thought it was a one-shot. No volume number, and I didn't expect Kazuaki to do a longer series than that. Gaaaaah. B's Log books aren't cheap ;o;
I lost the game.
Edit: And yesterday? Or the day before? I ordered the armor Saber Figma from some shady site that apparently takes forever to ship things out. I look forward to getting my Saber <3

I can read and translate things in Katakana pretty well. (Considering it's just "Foreign" words written in Japanese text.) But I have a harder time with Hiragana when it's not used in someone's name. And yes, manga is a great learning aid for the Japanese language. Especially the Manga aimed at Elementary/Middle schoolers . The Furigana is a HUGE help. (Now if only I could understand it, then I'd be all set. Because I can "Translate" the characters but I haven't the foggiest of what they actually mean. )

I still have that problem a lot. Being able to read the kanji because there's furigana, but not always knowing what they actually mean. I've gotten much better at understanding though.
A lot of my manga do not have furigana, so I've been struggling through those. Some, I haven't even read because I know I can't understand them. My 14 books of Lord, TogaChi, Kai yori, Innocent W, and the last 4 books of Mushishi are the furigana-less onces I haven't read yet ;_; I did get through Blame and Biomega though, I learned several kanji in the process <3 I think it's actually more helpful to read without furigana than with, because it forces you to actually think about the meaning AND reading more. With furigana, I tend to retain kanji less ._.; And reading without furigana makes me happy <3 Of course, manga like Blame and Biomega are a lot easier to read than my other ones because they have less talking and a rather limited terminology (some in-universe terms and basic things like stop/eat/run/think, etc), while most of my other manga are filled with upper-level words and complex sentence structures.

i don't even have all of my katakana down. :[
let alone hiragana. D:
and i can recognize, but not write, a few kanji like yume, ai, hikari, inu.
the ones you learn when you first start anime/manga. XD
I AM GOING TO READ INUYASHA. @_@;;
i just want book three before i start so i dont get to the end of two and go "WTF"

Your collection is made of awesome. You should check out Ginga Densetsu Weed, Bakuman, MiXiM♀12, Yotsubato!, and Shirogane no Karasu. All are excellent series. =3
