Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. 3nodding

Do you have the graduated drivers licensing thing there?
PostPosted: Wed Nov 05, 2008 8:37 pm

im not sure what you mean...we have 3 different licensing stages here. First you sit a written test and get your learners. This means that now you can learn to drive in a car, can only drive with someone who is over 21 and who has had theier licence for more than 4 years supervising you. Then you sit a practical test and get your restricted- can drive by yourself between 6am and 10pm (i think), not allowed passengers unless you have someone 21 years or over blah blah. Then you can sit your full licence, which means you can do whatever you want. I have my learners xd

Yeah, that's basically it. I think we have a few more steps here... I dunno. I got my license before it changed over so I only had to go in for a written test to get my beginners, and a driving test for my full. No restrictions on people in the car or anything. For beginners we just had to have someone with a valid license for 4 years.

yeah we like to over legislate everything here xd the only reason i got my learners was because i needed id to drink >.<

Yeah, they changed it to a graduated driver's license program like less than a week after I got my full license lol. I would've still been exempt, since I got my beginner's before that date (which is why it was so busy when I went in for my driving test lol). My sister has to go through all the hoops now bahahaha. Unfortunately, I'm typically the one who is over 21 with a license for 4+ years... I've learned quite a few things about my sister while teaching her to drive.

Do you know how to check your oil and everything? My friends all think I'm a genius... cuz I know how to do stuff like fill a tire... or change a tire for that matter.

um...i never tried to check oil and everything, but how hard can it be right? xd im sure i'll figure it out once i actually have a car to check. I know about all the warning lights and stuff whee

It's not really that hard once you find the dipstick. Darn cars putting it in different places haha.

That's what the car manual is for haha.

I've had to change fuses, change the oil, rotate tires, etc.

I also helped diagnose a problem (I found the problem but couldn't find the SOURCE - it was really tricky and my brother almost missed it too, you had to be looking at the perfect angle and at the perfect time to see it) and knew exactly how to fix it... but couldn't fix it because that's when I had trigger fingers and still fairly fresh from the box accident. It required muscle sad

true xd but second hand cars, im not sure how many come with their manuals.

Aw muscle requiring tasks suck. At least you could have the glory of finding the problem though

I dunno, win some lose some. Usually they're in the glove compartment and never leave the car, so I would think they're usually there... I've only had experience with second hand 'sports' cars (cuz they've been attacked by young guys who want to go 'vroom' lol), so none had their manuals.

Manuals can also be found online. 3nodding

Yeah, but it would've been SO COOL to say that I fixed my car completely by myself (... y'know... forgetting to mention my brother helped find it hahahaha)

yeah that would have been cool ^_^ I'll have to look for the manual online when i know what im getting. Tricky thing is that i want something cheap, and i know my parents want something with 20 airbags xd not on my budget

Get a compact. Small, affordable, good on gas. Usually has a lot of safety features to make up for it's puny appearance on the road.

Yesterday I had car troubles and had to call up my ex because SOMEONE (I don't know who, but it would not have been me) took the tools out of my car when I was moving in and put them in my room. I've been meaning to put them back but kept forgetting. Well as soon as I got home yesterday I immediately put them back in.

My car wouldn't start. All I needed was a socket wrench. I spent an hour and half trying to convince my car to start just once so I could go home and fix it. But no. Fifteen minutes after the call my ex was there. Ten minutes later I was heading home. scream

I couldn't. I needed to get home. I had too much homework and the internet at the school was down until today.

I was also meaning to go to the walk-in clinic to see if I have an ear infection, but because it took so long I felt I didn't have time and just went home and straight to homework.

Ugh it was horrible.

But no ear infection - my flu is just inflamming my throat enough to pinch off my eustachian tubes so that they can't drain properly.

... something I should really be used to... it was just really bad that day.

My ears finally started draining today and I have most of my hearing back. I can also pop my ears which is a good sign that I'm getting better.

My ears are always crappy. Especially my left one.

That's what I get for numerous ear infections as an infant/child, then bursting my ear drum in 2004.
