Daniel was sitting on a small bench near the center of the garden, reading one of his favorite novels. He had taken refuge in the vegetation of the garden, trying to avoid the nurses and other staff at the Asylum. His appointment with one of the many therapists was supposed to have started fifteen minutes ago, but he easily escaped it. I'm sure Dr. Harmon is tiring of this little game by now, he thought. Every time Daniel had an appointment with him, he would do his best to elude everyone, hoping to pass all of the available time he had. To Dr. Harmon's disfavor, Daniel often succeeded at this.
Just as he was reaching chapter twenty of The Davinci Code, he saw two figures coming into view. His heartbeat sped up, then returned to normal when he realized that it wasn't any nurses, but two other patients.
