Akila gripped her shirken tightly as the figure progressed. Chirichi let out a chirp of horror but stood his ground.
A fowl stench clogged the air as the figure started to grow in the mist- Akila covered her nose in disgust. The loud boom of its footsteps was now accompanied by a squelching noise like the sound when to remove your boot from the mud. The figure became more recognisible- it was easily over 10 feet and seemed to have a large club dragging behind it... Akila cursed aloud. She had read about these in her home town but had never bother to pay attention to the text seeing as she believed she would never meet one...
It's a giant Orc!
Akila raced throught her memory to figure out a weakness. The Orc had finally came close enough to see them and was not happy to have them in his territory. He swung his giant club in the air and then, roaring loudly, brought it down to where Akila and Chirichi stood.
They dodged the attack quickly, Akila rolling to the side, smoothly coming off of Chirichi's back as he fluttered backwards, they had practiced this many times before. Akila then ran back to Chirichi. She climbed on to his back and jumped towards the Orc, tearing off her cape to throw onto the orcs face. Being the bright monster it is, it struggled with the cape, leaving it blind for a while...
Akila yelled to Sarina:
I hope you have a weapon or something, Sarina- I don't think my shirken's gonna do it!

As Sarina saw the grotesque figure of the Orc emerge from the mist, the stench overpowered her. Once it spotted them you could see it was not happy to see them. Sarina watched as it attacked Akila and Chirichi and saw them working together to catch it of balance. they certainly were brave.  "I am afraid i only have a staff Akila, but don't worry, i have delt with worse creatures than him."The Orc thrashed about while trying to get the cape of its face, roaring in frustration. "raaaaaaarrrgggggg!"Sarina ran at the beast. She stood just enough distance away to avoid its swinging as it moved around. the best way to take a beast down of that size was to use its weight against it they would have to some how topple it over. Sarina thought to herself "Try to make it lose its balance" Sarina shouted to Akila. sarina slid next to it barely missing its club as it waved it around. she swung her staff at its foot with strong momentum. Putting all her force behind it and the Orcs foot went up. it rocked about losing its balance, but it managed to take the cape of its face. Seeing Sarina, it smacked her with its club, sending her flying of in the distance.

SARINAAAA!
Akila shouted into the distance after her friend was knocked away. Chirichi kwehed in anguish. Akila knew what she had to do know from Sarina's advice. She headed straight for the creature. It started to lean back then swung, barely missing Akila's head. But Akila was determined to get this right.
Hoping that Sarina was okay, she steered Chiri to run circles around the giants legs. Trying to follow his prey, the orc went in circles as well. Akila continued this until the creature started to swey. Getting dizzy, the creature started to stumble about, the club waving around Chiri and Akila dangerously. The club crashed into Akila, tossing her off Chirichi and breaking her leg at at once, but she stood with the help of Chirichi and clambered onto his back. The club went flying up, but then slipped from the monsters hands. Akila took this chance to kick into the orc with her good leg as she kept a stedy grip on Chirichi. The orc, still dizzy, tumbled and fell, as it club came down on its head, knocking it out.
We won't want to be here when it wakes up Chi-chi..... Come on, we have to ....go find... Sarina.........
Chirichi was now officially worried. Akila had reverted to calling him his baby name, which was almost a sure sign of some sort of head injury. He rushed off to in the direction that Sarina went, hopping that she was okay....

Just about to ask her how she survived that throw without much damage, Sarina answered her thought. She looked at Sarina with a strange look Skin of stone? she wondered and tried to say but all that came out were stutters- the dizziness affected her speech. The thought that swirled around in her head made it hurt so she did what she does best: stopped thinking.
Akila tried to sit up, but was still to dizzy from the fight and the fall. She tilted and almost fell back but Chiri was there to catch her. The stoning of her leg did feel a little weird but the sweet release of the pain made it worth it. Chirichi nudged her back down to a lying position and gave her a look to stay that way. Akila glared a little, then smiled: after taking care of herself and Chirichi all the time, it was time for him to take care of her, with the help of Sarina, of course.
Akila thought about what had just happened, it was a blur at the moment, especailly after the round of circle she had riden in, but in her near-blind rage, she had taken down an orc (half by luck, but whose saying anything) With this thought and Chirichi's feather down next to her she fell asleep for a moment...

He used the name of the God of Knowlegde, Odin, he was serious... And the young girl knew it. She started begging a little.

*************************************************** Akila woke up in a start. That dream was a bad memory before Chirichi and long forgotten after her travels started. She sighed as Chirichi awoke, ever-aware of his mother's state, he rubbed his beak against her cheek. As the dream faded again into nothingness, he thoughts from before her nap started flowing again: Skin of Stone, a giant orc? She spoke to herself: Akila, what have you gotten yourself into?Chirichi nudged her and tilted his head to Sarina, as if thanking her and telling Akila to do that same. Sometimes Akila thought Chiri was to smart for his own good, and she smiled. Whatever happens, I'm glad you're here Sarina. Odin knows I need a bit of common sense to save me from trouble...She laughed a bit, then leaned in close as if telling a secret... Now about that Skin of Stone...

Akila wondered when her headache would end as she layed back to listen to Sarina's story. She couldn't really think of anything to say after though, except for:
Wow....
She looked at Sarina wondering what could have happened toHer parents but thought it rude to as. Chirichi chirped sadly as Akila petted him on the head, know he was very simpathetic. He pusshed his head agaibnst Akila's back. Telle her we'll help,he was trying to say. She nodded.
We'll help Sarina. It's not everyday you find a life changing journey like this...
She smiled layed back down. The thoughts of what could happen swirled in her head. Then she said
Is this what the trip to Lynis is about... I forget.

Sarina smiled
"Kind of. Its mostly a trip to explore that place. I have heard a lot about the mysterious city, where there is said to lie a valuable treasure. It sounds like a place were questing heroes should go."
Sarina looked over to Akila as Chirichi rested beside her. Secretly Sarina hoped she would find something about her past, but tried not to get her hopes up, at least she had a good companion to travel with.
"Rest now. We can head out in the morning, if you still feel your up to it?"
Sarina said with a sly look in her eye.

Akila yawned involuntarily. She looked up at the sky, still grey and not much darker than it had been originally... She couldn't tell what time it was.
By morning... or whatever, I'll be up for anything. But now, *yawn* Is nap time... You should get some rest Chirichi and you too, Sarina... It was a busy day...
Akila smiled, and rested on Chirichi's back. She yawn again and turned over... quickly falling asleep.

Sarina nodded in agreement Tomorrow they would head out to Lynis, but for know they should get some rest.
Sarina put her arms behind her head and closed her eyes.
I wonder what awaits us in Lynis, Sarina thought to herself, before falling into a deep sleep.

Chirichi woke with a start tossing Akila on the floor.
Kweeeeeeeehhhhh, Kwe- Kweeeeeeh!!
The bike!! he thought after hearing Sarina (he has sensitive hearing even when sleeping) and started scurrying around, We left Sarina's motorbike! He rubbed his head against Sarina's arm as if to say sorry and started scurrying around again... Leaving Akila to wonder just what had happened. Still half asleep and now with a new headache from hitting the floor, she tried to make sence of the situation.
What the- ? What's wrong Chiri? What'd happened while I was sleepin' eh?
Her voice was slurred as she tried to sit up, rubbing her aching head. Chirichi quiqkly went up to her, lifted her to her feet by her shirt and gave her a good peck on the head to wake her a little more. With that, Akila slapped him upside the head.
What's wrong with you?!
She started muttering several obsinities under her breath as Chirichi went to say sorry to Sarina again. Akila glared at him.
I'm the one you should be saying sorry, too!!
