i wouldnt call it arrogance...id call it more like extreme confidence...a truly cocky person wouldnt have been able to survive the ending that he and kuja went through

OMG, thats what I loved about him, arrogant is the wrong word, he was more world weary, confident and laid back. But like I said, I loved him. He and Tidus are my favorites, Zidane far and away my favorite though, because they are fun, and not brooding, emo, "tough guys" like Cloud and Squall.

Plus, underneath all that he isn't as secure as he makes himself out to be, remember when he tells Dagger his memories of the blue light in the Black Mages Village, that was deep and showed vulnerablity. But most of all, after confronting Garland and learning his true nature, he really endears himself, because for one moment he breaks down and tries to isolate himself from his friends and you can just tell how much he is hurting. So while he may be confident in himself, there is also other layers, showing Zidane to be a vastly more complex character, plus the song playing at that point, "You're Not Alone", is the second best song in all of Final Fantasy, the first is "To Zanarkand."

Well said! I don't think I have anything to add...

My only argument would be that I think "You're Not Alone!" is better than "To Zanarkand."

Though it's quite possible that I did it too at some point in my gaming life, I'm getting sick and tired of people judging the characters, especially the main characters.

As far as I'm aware, Squall and Cloud are NOT emo, nor are they emotionless, or even antisocial, and though Squall's the one with darker hair and more gothic/emoish clothes, if either of them were antisocial, Cloud would probably be the most likely antisocial one.

As far as Zidane goes, and Tidus too, for Tidus haters, neither of them are really all that arrogant. They like to mess around, and they can be a bit stupid when it comes to some things, more so Tidus than Zidane, though I think Zidane's had his moments, but they're not so full of themselves either with their noses in the sky, which as far as I'm concerned, is what arrogant means.

I'm too early in the game to decide how I think of Zidane as arrogant or not (I only just arrived at Lindblum Grand Castle). So far, no, I don't think him arrogant at all.

Tidus and Zidane are the upbeat side of FF. while Cloud and Squall
are lone wolf types.

Well, if you notice the difference in Cloud in the game and the movie you would say that Cloud in the game isn't really antisocial at all, he seems more upbeat in the game, whereas in the movie he is VERY antisocial and serious, just thought I would throw that out there wink

he was one of my favs! and if you want arrogant i would say more like squall or cloud in the beginning of their games. they seemed like they thought they were too good to have any friends or TALK to ANYONE!! thats what i would call arrogant. but i love both of them anyway. i would say zidane was more of an openly friendly and self-confident (and funny!!) character. thats just my opinion though...
