victorian doll I love the music from the 2005 version, but I think the BBC version is most accurate. I have a hard time choosing because I do not think either of them have any glaring mistakes. Oooooooooh! I want the piano sheet music to the 2005 version so badly!! I have the sheet music to the BBC version, but I love the 2005 music so much more!

I also got the BBC version for Christmas!! Anyway, I prefer the 2005 version better.

I will always prefer the BBC version. To me it's classic and doesn't feel as long as it really is. Which is a bad thing when I get up at one in the morning with a desire to watch it. Plus I love the cast. Lizzy and Darcy were perfectly cast.
For the longest time I put off watching the 2005 version. I'm not a big Kiera Knightley fan. But I do love Judi Dench. But eventually I did see it and I will admit they did do some things better. The cinematography was gorgeous and had the film maker in me drooling. And the music! You can't get better than Jean-Yves Thibaudet who is considered a prodigy.
The new Darcy was attractive and did a good job. I thought the new Jane was almost more true to how I imagined her. I appreciated how they handled Mr. Colins. Kiera did a better job than I thought she would. But there were a few scenes where I was rolling my eyes (like the last scene).
But all in all I will always take the BBC version though I do enjoy the 2005 one and plan on buying it when I come to the States for college in the summer.

I think this is one of those incidences where if it happened in real life I may feel the urge to laugh. Sort of like receiving a poem from a boy. Doesn't quite work as well in real life. Though I do believe it was the part about my lips being fiery sunsets that turned it from sweet to ridiculous...

2005, definitely. I actually think that the miniseries, even though it's good, is far too overrated, and actually the 2005 version captures the book better. Despite the '95 version having more dialogues and scenes taken from the book, I feel that the characters were portrayed better, as were the emotions and just the overall feel of the book in the 2005 version.
Jennifer Ehle... I don't know why, but she doesn't feel like Elizabeth, to me. I honestly think Keira did a better job portraying her, and just the emotions that she felt, which you can't convey with dialogue. I love Colin Firth, but I also love Matthew McFadyen. I think Matthew's GORGEOUS, and did a good job of portraying Darcy as shy, but easily misunderstood as haughty. I've rewatched the 2005 version a lot this past summer, and he does a great job in the Meryton ball sequence. At first glance he seems very snobbish, but after you watch more (and I do watch him carefully. wink ), you can see more that he's just shy.
Overall, I just prefer the acting. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the girl who plays Georgiana in the 2005 version. I don't know who she is, but I LOVE HER. I also love Jane; she's how I imagined her. Really, the whole cast was great, I thought, when I thought the 1995 cast was kind of over the top sometimes. Example: Mary just popping up to say a bible verse about morality. It just was weird.
Another thing I liked about the 2005 version was the pacing. I mean, I don't mind watching a long miniseries (I've watched the 4-hour Jane Eyre miniseries in one sitting, and the LONG Bleak House miniseries in two sittings), but in the middle it just felt like there was nothing going on, and endless balls. It just drudged on. Now, I don't mind that in the book; in fact, the book was completely enthralling, but some things don't translate to the screen as well. The 2005 version had the two most important balls (Meryton ball and the one at Netherfield), and that was it. It was just great to watch.
Overall, with shooting, direction, costumes, music, etc. I preferred the 2005 version as well. I just love it A LOT.

It defined my summer last year; I must have seen it over 5 times. I love the way it portrays P&P; it's not a typical Austen movie, which I appreciate.
