Alex didn't hear her. He hadn't done anything about the gun shots, so he now had ringing in his ears. "What?" He asked as he peered deeper down the street to see a girl, who he thought wasn't very old at all being attacked. "I know this sounds really strange and dangerous, but I want you to climb onto the roof with that guy. I need to go get the little girl I just saw. I'll be fine, okie?" He said with a smile and nudging her along before more of those things came along.

Now I'm starting to see why Alex carries his knife with him, Kristi thought to herself before letting her plan process through her mind and giving him a nod. As soon as she stepped out of the car, she drew her blade from its sheath and swung the bag to hang on her back, its strap crossing diagonally over her chest. "All right, just don't get hurt from those zombie guys," she told him, looking in through the open door, deciding that they were indeed zombies, "If you die, I'll kill you."
And with that, she closed the door, holding onto the hilt of her blade tightly, but ready in case anything jumped at her as she headed for the building's fire-escape. Fortunately, she was fine, but there were a couple heading her way. Kristi reached back to slide her rapier back into its sheath, but she kept on missing, so instead of wasting time and trying to stab herself, she clamped her teeth onto the blade near the hilt, jumped up to grab onto one of the ladder's rungs, and started climbing.
Sorry, Mom, she thought, surprising herself a little at how quickly she was climbing the structure, You paid for seven years of braces, and this is how I'm using my teeth. Like a ninja-pirate. Climbing a building with such speed, but holding a blade between her teeth? Oh, hellz yeah, she thought when she reached the roof.

Alex chuckled and nodded. "I'll be alright, you stay put with that guy, you should be fine." He said to her, but in his mind he was just hoping the guy wasn't a homicidal maniac or anything for both their sakes. He sped off as a few of the freaks started groping the back end of the car. He took his cell and opened it up. Luckily his cell doubled as a walky talky and he pressed on the receiver twice as his was in tuned with Kristi's last time he checked. "How are things on your side so far?" He asked with a little static from the speed he was going.
He turned the corner he thought he saw the girl go around and almost ran his car into a whole group of the things rubbing and slaming up against a shop he was familiar with from delivering to the place often. A girl that he'd talk to whenever he would deliver here. That must've been the girl he saw. The 'zombies turned there attention to him and started shambling after him. He turned his back to see behind that it was clear and began to back up with a screech of turning to fast. "I'll come back around another way when it hopefully dies down." He said to himself as he began to peek down the connecting ally way. It was clear and he decided to park a little down the road. Getting out of the car he double checked first to make sure he had his keys, knife, and phone on him.
Sprinting back to the alley way still no sign of the things he climbed up onto the dumpster which the smell slightly made him gag. He then jumped onto the fire escape ladder which slide down slightly as he began to climb. On every level of the building he would bang on the windows and yell to see if anyone was there or not.

By the time his voice had come through on her phone, she nodded and gave him a bit of a mmhm before making it to the roof. Sure enough, there was the man she saw walking away from the bloody amputee that'd scared them so much. He had his back to her as he seemed to be busy scoping out more of the zombies. Maybe he can help make sure Alex gets back safely, too, Kristi thought, the soft soles of her shoes making her steps silent.
After a few moments, she'd crouched behind his shoulder. "My friend's saving some chick. Can you see him from here? In the blue sedan?"

His eyes widened as he heard a voice behind him. Rip didn't think, his body acted according to it's own instincts.
He had his back turned. There was an unknown contact behind him. It was holding a weapon and in a crouched stance.
Rip swung around quickly and planted the butt of his rifle dead-center of the young woman's forehead.

Her eyes widened as she saw the butt of his gun coming her way, and she tried to fall back and dodge, but she only got so far before she felt it hit her forehead. "Ahh," she groaned, falling back onto the ground, sitting up and holding her forehead, "Cheese 'n rice, that hurts."
One eye was closed as she continued to hold her forehead, and she looked up at him, "Okay, maybe I snuck up on you, but jeez..."

He stared her down and gnawed on the end of his cigar. He had hit an innocent, so what? This wasn't exactly a normal situation he was in. She had it coming.
Rip turned back to his scope and scanned the streets again. "Shut up, stay down, and maybe you'll make it out of here alive."

"Uhh, you okie over there Kristi?" He asked over the cell phone. He receiver must've clicked on, because she caught the tail end of what she said. "Okay, maybe I snuck up on you, but jeez..." He kinda got worried for leaving her a lone with a guy neither of them knew. She was a big girl though, and she knew how to take care of herself. He continued to go about knocking on windows and asking if anyone was there or not as he went from floor to floor.

She glared up at him, but in hindsight, how he acted probably wasn't very surprising. "My friend's down there trying to help a girl that was getting attacked," Kristi repeated herself very clearly, getting up to sit on her knees and taking the bag off of her back so she could put her blade back into its home, "If you can see him, would you mind shooting a couple of zombies and helping him out?"
"You okie over there Kristi?"
"I'm fine," she spoke into her phone like a walkie-talkie, "Our friend isn't very good with his people skills, though."

Kimberly checked once more, making sure the gun really was loaded. She was still sitting by the window, trying to figure out what to do. She kept mumbling to herself, about random ideas to explain what was happening. "They're shooting a movie. Yeah, definitely. They had to hide the cameras real well or they'd be caught on screen. An-and they can't have that. They can't! S-so, WHAT WAS THAT?!" She'd heard banging on the window, right over her head. She scrambled back, her eyes wide as she fell back on the floor, the gun raised and pointed towards the window in her trembling hand. But then she saw this person wasn't missing any eyes and he didn't have a hole in his cheek. So she slowly crawled forward, looking past him to make sure nothing else was coming, and then opened the window slowly. "Wh-what's going on?" she stammered, then paused, getting a better look at his face. "The d-delivery boy!"

He peared back into the window he just banged on. "Hey kid! Time to get out of here, eh?" He said with a smile. "Open up so I can help you out. Obviously not the front door." He said with a chuckle as he got on his knees to get better leverage for the window to open and pull the girl out.

She stared at him for a second, then quickly unlocked the window and pushed it upwards. "Wh-what are you doing here? At the window...?" She looked out past him again, hesitating, before leaning out and towards him. "Do you have any idea what's going on? Where are we going? Wh-what...?" She trailed off, looking completely bewildered.

"Well, for one, we're going to get somewhere that's safe." He said as he started to pull her out slowly. "You almost shot me I think, you still have the gun?" He asked as he started to brush off her shirt and pants off. He then took his phone and talked into it. "Okie, I have the girl I'm going to be heading back now Kristi. And I wouldn't blame our friend for this situation that we're all in right now." He said as he got to his feet. "Alright, so I'm parked right around the corner." He said as he looked down and saw that the 'zombies' were now starting to get into the ally. "This could be harder then I predicted..."

"I wasn't really gonna shoot.." she said, frowning as she was helped through the window. She shut it behind herself, though she couldn't lock it. She'd really prefer that zombies did not make it inside her home. If that's.. what they even were. She listened to the guy for a second, head tilted, and then she grabbed his sleeve nervously as she looked down and saw a group starting towards them. "S-so what are those? You haven't... told me what's going on yet," she whispered, voice shaking lightly.

He gently crouched down to her eye level and smiled. "Hun, I wish I could give you an answer, but this is all happening so fast for me and my friend, we're in the same position as you are. But I promise, I'll do everything I can to protect you. Alright hon?" He said giving her a gentle hug. He then stood up and placed his hand on her shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze. "You still have the gun right?" He asked gently as he watched the lumbering and groaning things. They were once human, but now... He wasn't sure what they were.
