Thats true - I wonder if he's seen any of the movies.. I don't think he has, although he at least was aware that the Jane Austen Book Club was coming out.
I'm surprised if he has any problems getting girls to fall in love with him, so far he seems pretty great. Not perfect, but I don't want perfection!

Yeah - how are they lousy? I'm american - graduate of an american university (with my Masters degree)... I wonder what the comparison is of english to american colleges are

Well I have to admit I am rather privileged in having attended the 7th best school and college in the UK (no I my parents don't own a polo club rolleyes ). But with all things, the older institutes know damn well they don't have to do anything at all and kids from everywhere will flock to try and get in. Which means there is sort of this half-bothered attitude to absolutely everything. It's so dull, as I genuinely want to sit and get stuff done but the teachers don't care as they know come exams we'll all get As.
In comparison, I think we start our school a lot earlier than you folks over the Pond.
We go to nursery at 2-4, which is pretty much just like your Kindergarten.
Then at 4-11 we go to Primary School which again is like your Elementary school. During Primary, you do two externals exams, SATs 1 & 2. Which grade each kid and give a rough idea of how they're doing with just basics (e.g. English, Maths, Science).
High School is 11-16, You do SATs 3 part way through to check your progress from Primary School. Then in your final year you do GCSE's which is really the main qualifications you get in life, where you can choose (usually 10 or so) subjects.
Then some go off to work, lazy about, or college.
College (or sometimes called Sixth Form, which is just a college attached to a school, like mine.) is 16-18, where "usually" you do AS & A levels (An AS level is a half A level), which is all nice and shiny and makes you look great to employers or what you need to apply to University. You usually do 4 AS levels then move on to study 3 A levels.
University, 18+. You really get any and all kind you could ever imagine. I'm hoping to go off to Durham which is like the UK equivilant of Princeton University.
You guys start school at age 6, right?

Ah well, we don't really have much difference in university's. Well a bit of difference but not much, usually it goes the older the university the better it will be. What's the difference between State Universities and Community College?
