Telyn didn’t like sharing Brychan. She was a very greedy hind in some ways---alright, most ways. Admittedly, she grudgingly gave up some of Brychan’s time to Rhomae simply because she liked Rhomae. If she had to share Brychan with someone she didn’t like… well, she would just have to trust his judgment. So far, it had been mostly sound.
Well, she would just have to do her best and subtly steer him towards the hinds that she approved of. Her attention was quickly stolen by Tempest and she smiled a little, leaning forward to nuzzle her daughter.
“I don’t think there are any other stags like your father.” Personally, she thought Tempest was a little young… but she couldn’t control her children forever. Besides, she was pretty certain that her daughter had at least halfway decent taste. “Do you have your eye on any stags yet, Tempest?” she asked, idly wondering if her daughter had seen any.
Huh. How did one even approach hinds or does? Islwyn flicked his ear as he attempted to do something that he didn’t do very often: just sit there and think quietly. Clearly, he would have to watch other deer very closely this Anlach, just to see how they interacted. It couldn’t be as simple as going up to a hind or doe and just asking her, could it?

Rhomae chuckled. Yes, Brychan did have good taste in hinds, if she did say so herself. Being able to already find three who got along rather well was a good start. Even though the third member was currently awol.....hmm. Wonder how she was doing.
The hind turned her attention to Tempest, smiling lightly at the thought of her finding a stag. Or a stag finding her. Ah, Rhomae remembered those days. She was alone for a rather long time. Then, that stupid stag claimed her during a rather weak moment....then, alone again. Finding Brychan was perhaps one of the best things that ever happened to her.
Though...that other stag gave her one good piece of advice to pass on. Tempest probably already knew this, but...heh.
"Tempest, if the first words out of his mouth are 'You're pretty,' just walk away." the hind said with mild humor, shaking her head. Yeah. That brought up bad - but funny - memories.

If one looked hard enough, they might see the insides of Brychan's ears turning a bit red at what Telyn had to say. About there not being any other stags like him.. for he took that as quite a compliment. He listened quietly as the hinds now spoke to Tempest about finding a stag or vice versa. A little amused smirk coming to his mouth as Rhomae offered her advice.
Tempest shuffled a hoof at her mother's question, "Well.. not really... but I think Braith is pretty nice." He and Chirin were the only boy she'd had much contact with outside her brother and father. She then blinked at Rhomae's advice and laughed, "I'll remember that."
Brychan chuckled before rising to his feet. "Just don't be in too much of a hurry to grow up Tempest. Its alright if you're not claimed this year, you'll have plenty of time yet." The stag stratched a bit before shaking out his starry pelt. "But I'm afraid I must go now.. I should inform the other Outriders of my return... and promotion."

“Braith? Well, he is better than his brother…” oh. Right… she hadn’t talked to Rhomae about adopting those two yet, had she? Well, that was a little embarrassing. The two were practically grown! “Err… Rhomae? That reminds me of something I’ve been meaning to bring up… a little while ago when I was bringing the kids to play in the field, we met two young calves who had lost their mother, Braith and Chirin. They’re about the same age as Islwyn here and I was wondering if you might… umm… look after them a little? I know you want kids and they need a mother, even if they are almost grown…”
That came out a lot more awkward than she meant it too.
“Do you have to leave so soon, Brychan?” Telyn knew it was useless, but she felt that she ought to at least ask. It probably bloated the stag’s ego or something.
Heeey… that’s right! His father had three hinds, not just two! That meant he had to know some sort of secret to winning the hearts of hinds or something, right? It would be a little weird just out and out asking ‘how do you come onto hinds’, but Islwyn was relatively bright. Sort of… maybe he could sort of smoothly transition into it and ask him how he had met Rhomae, Telyn and the other hind? That sounded good in Islwyn’s mind…
Unfortunately, he came up with this brilliant plan a bit too late and Brychan was already preparing to leave. “Goodbye, dad. I hope I see you when I become a corps!”

Rhomae blinked, slightly surprised by the sudden mention of...children? Sort of? She could be a mother?
Wait, what?
She listened to Telyn's explanation carefully, eyes alive with contemplation and the prospect of getting that which she sought. Young ones, but not so young as to need babying....young ones without a mother. The idea touched her, and tempted that part of her that was jealous of Telyn's young. But would she really be of any use? Almost grown could mean many things, emotion-wise. They might not like her, and reject her, or she may not be able to give them what they need....
Warmed by Telyn's offer, she responded carefully and with a bit of wariness. "Thank you for the consideration, Telyn. If I am truly needed, I would be honored to watch over them."
The hind looked up at Brychan, frowning ever so slightly. Telyn's question was mirrored in Rhomae's mind, but...Rhomae saw no use in asking it. He had his duties. "Do be safe, Brychan. And come back to see us soon."

Brychan's ears flicked as the mention of Braith and Chirin was being made to Rhomae. He would have figured Telyn would have already spoken to her about it... but apparently not. His face softening at Rhomae's reply... and then at Telyn's question to whether he really needed to go.
"I'm afraid so. I enjoy spending time with all of you, but I do have my duties. Besides... you'll see me again soon enough... Anlach is approaching." This said to the both of the hinds. And when Anlach came, he would be spending a lot of time with them for sure.
Tempest smiled a bit sadly, also not wanting her father to leave... but knowing he must. She wouldn't be a corps like Islwyn... and she wouldn't ever be in his harem of course... so she would see the least of her father.. especially as she got older. "It was good to see you" she said softly.
Brychan gave his daughter a smile, and laughed at Islwyn's comment. "We will see each other, I promise." After all... Islwyn was his son, and he planned on participating in his training. Giving a lick between Telyn's ears and a nuzzle to Rhomae, the stag then bounded off, heading for the hills where the Outriders stood.
