isandrith i've seen you've got mail last night and PERHAPS it was based on pride and prejudice. the book was mentioned, meg ryan was reading it in a cafe in the movie, even quoted something about lizzie being one of the best characters ever written and meg ryan had a lot of pride in the movie and was prejudiced against tom hanks because he was from a much bigger rival bookstore. then again it might be just my imagination. Maybe.... I know You've Got Mail is based on the musical "She Loves Me", and the original book was War and Peace, but it was changed to Pride and Prejudice for the movie. And She Loves Me was based on a Russian play, I think. So I doubt Pride and Prejudice influence... sorry.... I love what I've seen for adaptations. Personally, I LOVE Pride and Prejudice and Bridget Jones. Sense and Sensibility is funny for me, because soooo many actors I've seen in other things as well. As for Pride and Prejudice, I prefer the most recent film (I adore Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen!!!), but the miniseries was good too. I honestly preferred Colin Firth in Bridget Jones as Mark Darcy than him in P&P as Fitzwilliam Darcy.

 It would be SO much fun to just have a Jane Austen sleepover - watching the movies and eating popcorn and other snacks. Shame I moved away from all my college friends!

I love the movie version of Sense and Sensibility - the one with Alan Rickman. Sigh. I love Alan Rickman, especially as Snape...*Harry Potter moment*.
And the version of Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth trumps all.
I cried in Becoming Jane although I honestly felt that Anne Hathaway should not have played Jane. She didn't look right.

I haven't seen Becoming Jane yet... really, really want to though. Do you think maybe if she'd gained a bit more weight, she would have been more believable? From what I've seen in the previews, she looks her same, skinny self.
LOVE Alan Rickman!! AND Emma Thompson. They almost make me wish Colonel Brandon and Elinor HAD gotten together! razz razz It's kinda funny how many actors from S&S went on to play in HP.. (Fudge)

I know what you guys mean about HP...I actually told some people about that, whilst watching the 4th one two nights ago...Snape=Col Brandon. Umbridge=Mrs. Palmer. Trelawney=Elinor Dashwood...the list goes on!

since I am new the the Jane Austen world, I haven't seen any of her movies except Bridget Jones Diary. I want to try to read all the books before I see the movies though because I always think books are better. Anyway, do you think you guys to make a list of what character went in which movies went on to play which parts in HP. I am interested because I love Jane Austen and Harry Potter, but I also read somewhere that JKR was a huge fan of Austen, and some moments in the HP books paralleled some of Jane Austen's work. If this is indeed the case I just think it is ironic how these two authors keep intertwining.
