The captain walked forward to find a readily awoken guard and the prince in hay. He questioned just how close they were and never really understood how long Garrat has been with prince, since he has all the other knights to watch out for. Limping over he knelt down and pulled Garrat up to his feet. "My goodness, lad, what are you doing here so early? With the prince, no less!" he asked
Nathaniel stood up and started pulling out the strands of hay from his hair. "N-no worries captain, Garrat is my personal guard, so he was teaching me... uhh techniques.. I needed to learn to protect myself!" he thought up on the spot. He sneezed again and continued scratching his hands when another voice boomed throughout the stables that made Nathan shrink in fear.
" Is that why you haven't been in bed all night?" a woman's voice bellowed. "Time for you to come back inside.." said the Queen. "yes mother.." Frowning, Nathaniel quietly walked forward like a sad puppy with his tail between his legs. He glanced back at Garrat and gave him a small smile, almost reassuring him that he'd probably be fine. But the captain would eventually interrupt their glance to inform Garrat that he himself looked... rather terrible. " Why don't you rest for today, miboy. Until you're properly rested..." he suggest, other stable hands and knights helping the captain move and feed the horses.

Garrat nearly chuckled at Nathaniel's unbelievable cover up. What techniques involved sleeping together in hay? When the captain suggested the knight get some rest, he was about to mention how he had had sleepless nights before and still did well, but then he recalled that he hadn't been under the man's authority at the time. "Captain, I'm sure I'll last the day. I can make up for the lost hours tonight."

Garrat certainly surprised the captain. This soldier was always working hard. A loyal man to the royal family. Sighing, and giving a hearty slap to his back and rough grin. "Well then, miboy, get back to work! Search the grounds of anything odd and stay alert!" he spoke with gusto and nearly fell over if that crutch wasn't supporting him.
Readjusting himself, the captain hobbled along to his own horse, "Oh! And before I forget! In my quarters, There is a letter that came for you last night, but you weren't in your barrack so... figured best to give it to ya in the mornin" he called back and would eventually wave Garrat away.
Upstairs, Nathaniel was forced to take a bath and was, again, left alone in his room to paint a picture for his mother, who was surprisingly well recovered after one day of the news of her most likely dead son. The painting was to be specific. Paint the lake. The scenery was beautiful in this lovely autumn morning, but the prince was annoyed of painting these sceneries.... what good was making a picture of a place when you were never allowed to go there. He sighed sadly and would quickly finish his annoyingly beautiful painting,
Soon, however, in walked his brother.

A letter? Garrat became curious and, figuring there was no harm in picking it up before beginning his duties, went off toward the captain's quarters to retrieve it. After a twist here and a turn there, he arrived and took the letter before hurrying back outside. He had planned to read the letter after the day ended, but curiosity got the best of him and he was already scanning the paper as he walked.

The letter had no carving or seals of whom it may be from. When Garrat looked inside the letter, the only words written there were: "Her secrets are her lies. 20 years and the Raven will die".
Nathaniel raised an eyebrow at the sight of his brother barging in. He asked what he wanted and Hamish looked better than he did yesterday... so good that he was usual cocky self! He grabbed young Nathan and playfully tackled him. They started tussling in his room. "Gah! Stop! Ghg- HAMISH!" he cried as some paint smeared in the princes' faces. Of course, however, since Hamish was stronger, he ultimately won the tussle battle! But then they kept going and going... until it got harder and harder for Nathan to breath! Of course, Hamish wouldn't know, he just didn't want to be alone. And he wanted to play!

Garrat raised an eyebrow as he read the letter. He had never been very good at understanding the meanings of cryptic words. Deciding to try to figure it out later, he pocketed the letter and continued toward the courtyard.
He only stopped when he passed by Nathaniel's room and heard signs of a struggle, and then he barged in there himself. "Prince Hamish?! Get off him before you accidentally strangle him to death!" the knight demanded as he tried to part the two princes. For a moment, he worried. Had everyone started going mad?

When Garrat finally reached the room, Nathaniel was gasping for air and Hamish was pulled off of him, completely dumbfounded that he nearly smothered his brother to death! "I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to-, I -I-I was just play-oof!" he was apologizing when a massive pillow from Nathan's bed flew through the air and attacked Hamish's face.
"Hamish! You blathering dunce! What do you bloody think you're doing?! Barging into my room! Just you wait! Garrat and I are training and I'll have no more of your bloody nonsense with ruining my hair and wrestling me to the ground!" Nathan yelled. His blonde haired brother was a little shocked at his outburst and quickly retreated to his room where his parrot could be heard when he opened and shut the door.
Nathan's face was red from yelling and tears welled up in his eyes. He was catching his breath and trying to calm down now. His arms were folded tightly across his chest as he pouted. He didn't like it when Hamish man-handled him like that. It was just another reminder of how weak he was.

Garrat began checking Nathaniel over, wiping the tears when he saw them. "You weren't hurt too badly, I hope?" he asked, pulling the prince protectively into his arms. At least the Prince Hamish hadn't been going too insane, though the knight couldn't be too worried. "Perhaps I should have accompanied you and locked your door." He gave Nathaniel a kiss on the cheek.

Nathan shook his head. "No, it wouldn't have made a difference. Richard must be back. Hamish always gets like that when they're together, all confident like the cocks in the roost pen in the garden. I asked Richard once a long time ago and he says he helps Hamish.. uhh... relieve stress or something " he mumbled. The kiss on the cheek made him giggle.
"Are you done already?" he asked. His little naked kitten hopped beside Garrat, walked over his lap and curled up beside the prince. A starling was perched and resting up in the shelves somewhere in the room. " Can we go out?... I can't really finish the painting now.. " he frowned when looked at the ruined blues and reds on the canvas painting. "I still need to find you a birthday present.." he smiled and wrapped his arms around the knight's neck.

A blush crossed his face when Nathaniel told him what he heard from Richard. He supposed that was one way to describe the nobleman's relationship with the older childish prince.
Garrat had to pull away, but with great reluctance. "I haven't even started, really. I was sidetracked, by a letter, but it's a good thing I was," he said and then headed for the door. "We may go out once I finish. Until then, behave." He said the last bit playfully before he exited and locked the door, going for the courtyard.

Nathan pouted a little but reluctantly let his knight go. He heard the sound of his door locking and sighed, now all alone in his room. Soon he pet his kitten and played and cuddled with it. The little kitten squirmed a little to break free and soon, Nathan started crawling around to follow the kitten in an odd game of chase.
Sooner or later, the prince would try to pet Reynold but would probably get stuck for climbing so high up.

Speaking of Reynard, Garrat wondered where the starling had gone. He hadn't seen him in a couple of days. He was starting to miss the little bird.
Having finally returned to the courtyard, Garrat began the patrol as the captain instructed. As it should be, no one found anything out of the ordinary. During some breaks, Garrat would try to decipher the letter given to him. What did this mean?

TenTenPrincess23 Nathan had climbed down. He followed his kitten again and noticed a few bugs on it. One maybe jumped on the prince but for the most part, he ended up killing all of them.
Outside, on one of Garrat's breaks, a surprising visitor came across the knight and approached him with a sullen face. It was none other than Rosa. She was hesitant being around the knight at first but her feelings still remained the same. Although now, she had a pretty good idea to give Garrat his space. She smiled and gave a small "Hello..Sir Garrat.." She beckoned softly. Her scarlet hair fitted beautifully around her sweet round face. She was in her traveling clothes, so it looked she was coming or going out.

Upon seeing Lady Rosa, Garrat was unsure of what to do. He still felt a bit bad for yelling at her the other night, and he felt a bit sorry for her having possibly lost her friend, the missing Manuerva. "Greetings, Lady Rosa," the knight said in as polite a tone as he could. "If you wonder about the whereabouts of the princess, I have yet to find her. I'm sorry."

Rosa kept her eyes down, "er.. actually... I came to make sure you got your letter. Manureva said you'd might need help reading it.." she muttered. She frowned. "I haven't seen her though... I just.. received a letter from her yesterday... I'm sorry for everything that's going on. With Joseph gone.. i-it must be difficult for Nathaniel and Hamish.............." she walked a little closer. Although the woman was being surprisingly calm and cooperative, she was withholding something thinking she could possibly ask for a small favor.
