Anyway, these are some shots of our current prototype system. Getting the puck to roll is easy. But our task differs from the year before, each team has to LAUNCH/THROW the puck through the air.
Here is the original prototype to drive:

After this, we switched systems. We're now having a motor on each wheel instead of having one motor for 2 wheels to drive and a wheel to steer. We had to ditch that system because it was too complex and also because we're on carpet, the wheel dragging caused problems.
As part of our testing, we have to check the motors are working properly, this little 'rig' shows us how many times the motor spins in 10 seconds.

Easy enough.
This is our firing mechanism. Our team (which grew from 2 to 3 last lesson) helped improve my original design for the firing mechanism. It takes around 3-4 seconds to spin up completely before we can fire successfully. It has to be around 45 degrees and ALSO the wheels must only touch the upper half of the puck.

It should be noted that it's slightly disassembled so you can see everything. Quite a few groups keep on coming over to where we work and looking at what we're doing.

It has a motor bike engine and it sounds great when it's revved up.
