"Such as?"
It really wasn't in his nature to hide things, but Evan had no way of knowing that. "I am here to protect Atal, and to find Freki a partner before she wasted away. I was not expecting either of you. I only knew that Geri told me to wait until someone killed his and Freki's mortal bodies. Then to raise their godsoul. So if you want to know something, I suggest asking Geri, who most defintely doesn't like the other half of your mind. Considering they liked to peck at each other even while the All-Father was around."

So there it was. The real reason why he had come out of nowhere, just after those wolves had died. Great.

But Evan didn't like having another person to fight. His expression went blank and he turned his head towards the wolf. Excellent... so what now? Hugin knew how to talk to these people- he didn't. And even if there were some way to do so, he wouldn't. After all, they didn't like each other.

"I suppose I'll just have to find out for myself, then. I don't want to fight with anyone else today... Especially not with Geri, who could just as easily bite my head off to stop Hugin from speaking."

The information was vital. But if it would cause him to get into a heated argument that would probably give him a splitting headache in half an hour, he'd rather not do it. It simply was not worth the effort it took to engage in such verbal abuse to get something that probably wouldn't be of use until later.

And Geri just sat there over his haunch of meat that was now just a pile of bones that he was idly gnawing on protectively. He wouldn't even let Freki get close. And if Evan looked too close, he would see a very satisfied and smirking grin on his wolfish features.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 07, 2007 8:57 pm

He didn't. Perhaps it was better that he didn't, or he would ask why the wolf wore that self-satisfied smirk. Evan had a bit much to worry about at the moment. He didn't want to wait for whoever was coming for them. If it was their opponent, so be it. If not, so much the better if they arrived first. But the strategically sound thing to do would be... well, wait.

And thus, the evening stretched onward, until the sun was below the horizon once again. The storm had not hidden the passage of the day, though during the last hours of the sunlight, all they could see was grey.

Evan had to wonder to himself how he was going to fix the problem in his own head before trying to fix those of others. Perhaps a bit of self-importance would have kept him from this little quest of his, but it was a fellow Aesir. He couldn't really deny, could he?

...No. When it came down to it, he could not. Besides, something had to be corrected about Thor's mistake. That thought alone made his placid features crack a bit, his right eye twitching in annoyance.

Silabus Whitelight
An old Dwarf was walking along the small mountain path he had afew other dwarves following him holding wepons, armor, and shields of all types. They were singing happy songs and there aprons shined in the sunlight brightly like there happy faces. Suddenly the ledge broke and all the dwarves started falling. In a flash of light the dwarf in the front made a platform grow from the cliff that caught them and like an elevator slowly moved them up to another path to walk on.

((So the fact no one has replied to talk to the Dwarves means I am terrible at this right?))

((No, no one in the caves has any way of knowing about the dwarves, except maybe Karasu when she posts.))

Melissa coverd her wolf eyes. She had never seen him look like that! eek Evan sure did look scary right now!

Evan calmed himself a moment later and casually made his way towards the impromptu living room. He needed time to think. Sure, Hugin's strategic mind was brilliant, but the way he put his words gave Evan a headache. With that said, what he really needed besides a way to help Melissa (and now retrieve the real Balmung from wherever it was), was a way to repair his mind.

As long as he didn't have that, he wouldn't entirely be himself, would he? But first things first. Find someone who can help Melissa, get the sword, kill the bad guy, get the girl and bring her back. And in that order, thank-you-very-much.

His confidence was slowly returning to him as he repeated his mission over in his head. And finally, he had enough nerve to begin speaking to Geri. He didn't know how to begin, but seeing as the wolf didn't like him from the start, he might as well just dive in.

Hopefully, the headache would not be too bad.

Hello, Geri.

The wolf licked its chops as if Evan was a tasty morsal. Hello, bird...One paw over the other and it waited, its time was coming and it knew it had the upper hand.

Why did he get the feeling that Geri wanted to eat him for a snack? His expression however, remained unreadable. He wanted to make it clear that there was a difference between himself and Hugin.

I'm not the bird you so hate. I won't pluck your eyes out- I only want to talk. If he knows what is good for him, he'll shut up and let us have a conversation.

As if he had a choice in the matter. When Hugin wanted to speak, he spoke. Persona boundaries had nothing to do with that, which was annoying. But for now, the raven remained surprsingly silent. Maybe he just didn't want to talk to the wolf at all?

Or perhaps this was a way to repay Evan for his so-called mistake.

You would still be tasty...Geri merely smiled as if to let Evan do as he wished, Though my appetite is more fearsome than even Freki.Evan would hear a chuckle in his mind as the wolf began to preen it's paws.

Evan's face remained placid. There was no real use talking to him, was there? No questions, no answers, no nothing. Just him being looked at, as if he were some kind of tasty meal. Why did he do this again?

Oh, yes. Information. Well, that was screwed, so he might as well get some rest at the moment.

Just do me a favor and don't try to eat me with my eyes closed. Apparently, this conversation was finished before it began.

And with that, he set about forgetting that the mental chat ever happened by closing his eyes and meditating. In no more than five seconds, his mind would be clear of thoughts. Thing about that is, he hadn't realized that he was sitting in the chair that was carved with the ravens and wolves. It just looked comfortable enough to sleep in, that was all.

Then again, he couldn't sleep- not in here and not next to Geri. So he relaxed and meditated. For some odd reason however, the raven was nervous for once in his quite long life. This chair meant something when one sat in it. He wouldn't be surprised if he was forcibly ejected from the seat by some entity that reserved it only for the worthy.

For once, he hoped that for Evan's sake, it did not do so.

He would not be ejected, but he would not find any peace to mediate. For the moment he sat there, his mind would be filled with visions. Visions of the past, and visions of the future, of what had been done, and what remained to be so...There was Thor with his hammer, throwing it to the skies as Hugin flew over, Tyr's hand being devoured by Fenris, and all of the rest of the old legends.

And then there was something new....

A dark man, held a child, while another child sat beside him, her blond curls framing her face. "Father, when will we see mother again?"

The man turned with a dark and secretive smile and patted the child's head. "When she realizes what a fool she's been, she'll come to us, Þrúðr. Then she will come to find Ullr and you." He brushed the girl's cheek affectionately, but there was just something sinister about his posture. Then he turned as if looking directly at Evan.

"Come when you will, old bird. I will still remain..." And then the vision clouded, and Evan was left with visions of the past.

Evan was assaulted for a moment. Instead of his mind clearing, it flooded. It almost hurt- so much at once. But something within him, be it the Raven of Thought or something else, managed to endure it as he sat there. The very moment when he was suddenly knocked from the sky however, almost undid him...

He could feel the entire right side of his body, from the wing to the talons below, breaking and snapping. All he was doing was looking for Munin- that was about it. Why that hammer had been thrown was unknown, even now. But now... now he hated him even more for it.

He saw himself change into a more suitable form for the situation as his mind split itself into two, to preserve the thoughts of Odin from being lost... The Raven of Thought, Hugin, was not dead and had yet to meet his fate.

But it was close, as his now human form slammed into the ground, fracturing his skull and thus locking Hugin away for a few millennia. He was only supposed to watch and guide, not be completely silent. That was not in the plan at all. Perhaps that was why he was so bitter. So many mistakes made while he was out cold... so many errors in judgment and mistakes to correct.

As that image faded, another appeared. One of Tyr. The boy- no, the Aesir. The sacrifice of his right hand was necesssary to stave off the Twilight, though it was also one of the things that got it moving. Immediately, that one faded, and several others took its place. Everything, from past, to the current present. That headache that he was expecting was starting to come to the surface.

I don't think... I can take much more of this...

And then, he saw it.

Him... The one who had ended the Age of the Gods. Loki, the Betrayer.

Next to him were two children, one boy and one girl. Hugin refused to speak, but he knew who they were. One of them was to become a Valkyrie... The other was a masterful archer and warrior of the Aesir. But there was a problem- they were calling him father.

The Raven of Thought couldn't stay quiet however, as he was basically challenged to come and get them. From his tone of voice and his body language, he did not have good intentions for them...

Loki, you b*****d... I will kill you for this.

And with that, Evan's eyes opened, his gaze wild and unfocused.

What the hell was that?

Then, he looked at the chair that he sat in.

Don't tell me that this is...

It is. Be fortunate you had me with you- no mere mortal can sit in the High Seat of the All-Father and retain his sanity. So then, what will you do now?
PostPosted: Sat Feb 10, 2007 6:06 pm

Hakan looked up and smiled at Evan, though he said nothing. "Are you alright, friend?" There was just something that was there in his face that said he knew exactly what Evan had seen. He lifted one finger to his lips as if to tell Evan not to speak of what he'd actually seen, nodding his head towards Geri. As if he didn't trust Geri either.

Hakan's arms were still wrapped around Atal though, and he would not leave her, so he was merely asking to make sure.

Evan nodded, slowly. He still felt as if all that were a dream- or rather, a nightmare. Feeling his own body break, about fifteen to twenty bones in total as far as human anatomy was concerned, was disconcerting at best, and hellish at worst. That was no dream- it was memories. Actual events that happened.

And now, he knew. He knew all of them.

"Yeah... I'm fine."

Interesting... he sounded more confident now. Hugin did not respond, seeing as Evan seemed to be in control. His face returned to its blank, fixed, unblinking state, but his voice seemed to have a different tone to it.

"Hakan, do you really know where Balmung is? Because tomorrow, we're going sword hunting. Far be it from me to face my opponent without a proper weapon."

Besides, he had to hold on to that sword- it might be the only thing that could penetrate that thick hide of Thor's. If anything else, he at least wanted to bleed him for what he had done. For everything that he had done. Tomorrow would be an eventful day.
