Jan smiled as finally the chilli finished. Reaching over to turn off the stove, she set a hot pad on the table as she moved the pot from the stove to the table. She set it down, having finished her corn-bread and took up Kit's bowl. "I always have fun with friends," she said ladling in some more tomatoey good ness. "I enjoyed our walk in the garden best."
The red-head smiled and handed him the bowl, pouring herself some chili as well.

Kit smiled back, and quite happily took his warm bowl. He almost dropped it, since it got very hot very quick, but somehow managed to not make a mess all over himself and everything.
He put on some of the cheese, and tore off a few chunks from his slice of cornbread, dipping it in, like he had done with the crackers. Blowing on it to cool it all down, he took another nibble, as his tastebuds melted.

Jan smiled at him and took some cheese and cornbread as well. She took some milk as well. "Hmmm....tomorrow I'm going to have to work. I need to get some hours in, and they're starting riots without me there to tell them not to be idiots. Think you can handle being home? Or would you like to come with? And we can't leave Ian here alone again, I feel horrible when that happens."

"Well, if I came with, I'm not sure what I would be able to do. I mean, Id be willing to help out, I wouldn't just want to sit around all day long,"
He took a few nibbles, ate some more cornbread, and drank a few more sips of milk.
"I'm sure I could find something to occupy my time with of course. I did read that letter today, and have some ideas on my next paycheck," He giggled, staying lighthearted.

"I'd feel bad if I had to leave you alone. You could come in for the last hour of my shift I suppose. Have a drink or two," she shrugged as she continued to eat more yummy food.
"Really, it's up to you, but I'll be working till at least midnight. By the time I'm done someone's gonna have to carry me back," she said with a laugh, not truly thinking it, but she wouldn't be able to move very quickly after that long of a shift.

Kit nodded in agreement, and took a few more bites of his chili, and finished off his slice of cornbread.
"I suppose I could swing by then, especially if you need a ride home," He smiled and chuckled a little.

"Aww, you're so nice to me," she said teasingly, taking up his bowl with her own once she was finished. She washed the two bowls and put them into the dishwasher. She put the lid over her the chili, turning the heat down to keep it just warm enough for Ian when he came in, and she kept some cornbread for him as well.
"Hmm....Food was yummy. I think I'm going to lie down for a bit. But first, a shower."
With that, Jan was in the bathroom making herself smell and look pretty again.

As Jan went back to shower, Kit went back to his own room, and left the door open just a crack, with the light turned down dim, but not dark. He opened up a window, to let the fresh air in, and laid down on his loaned out bed, closing his eyes, and starting to relax.
He heard the nighttime sounds of Sundri. People walking by, cars about in the streets, and distant noises that just compose the rest of the orchestra of a city at night.
He heard the water running and splashing as Jan took her shower as well, seeming almost as melodic as her own voice, but still in its own way.
Slowly, he started to drift on, sleeping light on top of the blankets.

Ten Minutes after she got in the shower, Jan was out, hair clean and dry, body clothed in pajamas. She smelled quite nice, and felt nice as well. Seeing Kit's door open, his light still on, the host poked her head into the room, hoping to catch him awake, but he appeared to be sleeping. She smiled at him and entered the room, sitting on the bed just lightly enough to not disturb him.
Taking in his peaceful countanence, she brushed a bit of stray hair from his face.

After the few strands of hair were removed from his face, he woke up lightly, smiling as he saw Jan there. He hadn't been asleep that deep or that long.
"Well, hello there," Kit said in a teasing and playful tone, still just laying there as Jan sat on his bed.
Finding her nearest hand, he lightly captured it with his own, giving it a light squeeze, followed by another smile.

She smiled softly, nearly blushing when he found her hand. Gently, she placed a kiss on his forehead, and watched him still. "Hello." She squeezed Kit's hand softly, and stayed where she was for the time being. "Want some company?" she asked, tilting her head to the side.
Her garnet eyes smiled down on him as her hair fell towards her face. She felt as though she might has well have been in some weird fairy tale.

Even if Jan had blushed, Kit blushed much more with the kiss, still smiling quite happily.
Looking back up to her rich eyes, he got lost in there essence for a brief moment, taking all of them, all of her in at once.
Realizing where he was after the quick moment, he responded to her question.
"Company is always a good thing to have,"

She smiled and laid down next to him, staring up at the ceiling of what she now considered his room. There was no other person that she would have felt so comfortable with in such a short amount of time, but she was getting to a point where the amount of time it took to become friends with someone was very small indeed.
Their hands were still connected as they lay there, letting twilight take over the city.

The moonlight trickled through the spread curtains, falling partially on the bed at their feet, but mostly onto the floor. He looked over at Jan now and then, with a happy little look on his face. He was quite relaxed and content with her next to him as well. It had been quite some time since he had a friend like her... in fact, he may never have.
Enjoying the lingering moments, the city sounds became fewer and fewer. With a soft sigh, Kit finally spoke after being in the silence, just sharing the comforting surroundings.
"So, I have a slight problem, Jan..." He said, rather serious.

Somehow, she knew that those words had been coming. She'd known that her tranquility would somehow be shattered in the wake of something. Her garnet eyes traveled to his face, and her head turned to face him. Her expression was still slightly cheery, though she dreaded what was coming next.
"And what is that problem?" she asked.
