Vauluin let out a booming laugh. "A pirate, eh, boy? You should have said so sooner! Here I was, afraid Yaya had fallen for someone boring, like a measly merchant's son. Of course, you're much smaller than most pirates I've met, but no matter." Pausing to take a drag from his cigar, he asked, "How is it that you met my daughter?" He furrowed his brow suspiciously. "You aren't one of her employers, are you?"

Hugo grinned, glad to see he wasn't angry that his daughter was with a pirate. "Oh no, sir. I met her at a space port near Mars. Nearly gave me a heart attack when I saw her. Thought she was going to assassinate me. She didn't obviously. Well, I'm not sure why, but she's been following me around since we left."

Vauluin laughed again. "From what I gather, you must be more astute than most of the guys she meets. I've seen 'em eat up her act, never once suspecting her to be an assassin. Of course, I wish her methods weren't so..unsavoury, but I'm sure she'll change with you around." At that moment, a large, black ship descended from the sky. Out of it walked a hairless, red-skinned alien with four arms. Seeing Vauluin, he walked over, grinning. "Gustave, friend! It is good to see you again!" "Ah, Vaul, it's good to see you, too!" He glanced around, seeming nervous. "You're wife isn't home, is she?" "No, she's away at the moment." "Thank goodness." A look of relief crossed his face. Turning, he extended a hand to Hugo. "Gustave, at your service." He gestured to the Kraken. "I assume this is the ship?"

Hugo looked at the alien. He was used to odd looking people(after all, he did share a ship with Budgie). "Yeah, this is my ship." He frowned on the question of Yatheia's mother. He imagined he didn't want to meet her then. "So, can you help me fix it?"

Gustave circled the ship a few times, making clicking noises in his mouth. Returning to stand next to Hugo, he nodded. "I think so. It certainly won't be easy though." Peaking around inside, he whistled. "What exactly did this?"

"A super advanced ship. It had a weapon that has been fired at me twice. The first time it caused me to bleed internally. The second time the ship took the shot for me," Hugo said. He placed his hand against the ship, feeling its pain.

Gustave's eyes grew wide in surprise. "The ship took the shot for you? It's sentient?" The mechanic had a sinking feeling that this wasn't going to be any ordinary job. He'd only heard rumours of minded ships, but had never encountered one himself.

The ship shivered slightly, as if to say, "Of course I am." Hugo smiled, running his hands along the paint, "Yeah, when I bought it they said nobody could handle it because it was supposed to hold the soul of a sea monster. Hence the name, Kraken. But we've been old pals, so it's very important I get it fixed."

"I see," Gustave said, nodding. "Well, I've never tried to repair a ship that was bonded with someone. But I can give it a shot." Waving a hand to Hugo to tell him to follow, Gustave walked into his own ship and opened a large compartment. In it were what seemed to be hundreds of tools. "We'd better get to work soon, then. Unless you'd prefer to rest first?"

"I'm fine. I want to get started on the ship as soon as possible," Hugo said, taking an armful of tools. He was much more prepared to repair a ship. Of course, the Kraken had never been shot down before.

Also grabbing several tools and a few boxes, Gustave walked back to the Kraken and set the things on the ground. Picking a tool, he began to get to work. "Hey, Vaul, wanna lend a hand?" Gustave said as he set to repairing the torn metal with delicate precision. "If I must," said Yatheia's father with a hint of enthusiasm as he walked over and grabbed a tool.

As Hugo began repairing another fin, Budgie ran up. She grabbed Vaulin's hand, giggling. "Oh, can I help too! I want to help, Huge-o's ship! Please Please!

Vauluin looked at Gustave, who shrugged and smiled. "Sure, I don't see why not." He handed her a tool similar to the one he was using and began to show her how to patch up the torn metal. "Just be very careful not to hurt yourself. Some of these tools can be pretty dangerous."

Hugo smiled. She was actually a good help. She actually repaired things quicker then the others, and with her wings, she got to places that the others couldn't reach. Hugo wondered what exactly she is. She looked human enough, except for those wings. Somehow, she's an adult yet you'd never know it. Oh well... "Good job, this might get finished in a decent time if we keep up at this rate," Hugo said to everyone.

Gustave was glad they'd accepted Budgie's help. She took to the work wonderfully. "Not as long as I had feared it'd take, certainly," said Gustave. "And the ship's sentience doesn't seem to be an issue at all. I don't know what I was expecting, really. Perhaps that it would scream in pain when I took a torch to it."
