"Uhh, just because?" He wasn't sure whether he would actually get into trouble by leaving Klaus without telling anyone, so he had set it up just in case... Even knowing that he could probably dodge Nel's attacks with his Klausian reflexes (and with the hunch that she wouldn't go all out on him anyway), her menacing stance made him feel anxious. Shouldn't the guest be treated with more hospitality??
Then he heard some yelling from downstairs.

Wow, I sure hope I won't get like that when I get old.
It served as distraction enough to stall him some time to properly react, though.
What if he let her win the previous battle?
"You know," he said slowly, cautiously, "I'm kinda tired, and this arm is getting sore, even if I am a Klausian." He waved said arm in the air for emphasis, though found himself cringing and snatching it back. "Eh... how about we call it a, uh, a night?"
The rain made it hard to tell whether the sun was still in the air or not. He concluded that it would be evening right about now, because it was dark. Not because a cloud was blocking the sun... He had a hunch it was evening time.

Nel stood quiet for a second and sighed, lowering her weapons.
"Hmph, I guess I'll just have to interrogate you tomorrow..." Nel stated, sheathing her blades.
"Your bed is ready Cliff," Clair interrupted, opening the door after having closed it.
"I'm going to go check on Tynave," Farleen said, walking away to the next room.

Cliff managed to pull off making a lopsided grin before fleeing (with his slow-motion Klausian pace) swiftly into his prepared room. Only after he realized that Nel wasn't going to follow him and attack him did his torso emerge from the doorway.
"Oh yeah, tomorrow's fine," he said with a forced beam in the Aquarian's direction. "Say hi to Tynave for me, wouldja Farleen? Night, guy--eh, I mean--gir--no wait--ladies. Yeah, that's it. Oh, oh, and Nel...."
He couldn't help it, he grinned at her wholeheartedly before stating quietly (knowing that Aquarians--or at least Nel--had magical ears and could hear many things), "I know I said I could be your partner all night anytime and everything, but this one night's an exception, a'ight?"
He then planned to flee (for real this time) back into his room and sleep the evening off... His hunches didn't help to lead him into thinking that Nel could perhaps react to his comment... Who knows, maybe she wouldn't... but then... If she did, frankly, Cliff would probably be screwed.
Cliff had a hunch he would be screwed at one time or another sometime soon.
He wouldn't be able to leave this place... lest Nel and the others suspect him of having done something malicious... or being an impostor... (like in all those clone movies.) He'll leave in the morning; when his arm has healed somewhat and they would suspect him no more... or somewhat less. Yes, morning, he would leave then.
The hunch that he would be screwed sometime soon still remained.
Wonder why that is...?

Adray quickly runs up the stairs hoping to see the interrogation, yet sees the acting...friendly.
Adray sighs. He loves interrogation. And then he heard what Cliff said.
"Uh-oh" He said.
Adray then quickly went downstairs. Very, very quickly.

Clair smiled at Cliff and Nel sighed. Farleen nodded and began to leave...
Then they heard his comment....
Nel's eyes hid behind her bangs and Clair froze. Farleen was ready to sprint off in a different direction.
Cliff had already closed his door, but that didn't stop Nel from throwing her daggers at the door. They made a loud noise and went halfway through the wood. The blades could be seen on the other side.
"Sleep with one eye open Cliff. I'm going to murder you..." Nel shook with anger, her hands turning into fists.
Clair laughed nervously and Farleen was already in the other room.
