Feriku Basil-tofu Most mainstream anime is not that great. I understand why you don't like it. Some anime, however, is really amazing. You should watch a Miyazaki movie. Miyazaki...is that the name of a series, or of a director/writer person? Miyazaki is the director. He direction a lot of the ghibli films (ghibli is a production company). They've done movies like kiki's delivery service, nauusica valley of the wind, Spirited away, howl's moving castle... my neighbor totoro... and a lot more. Maybe you've heard of or seen one?

Feriku I thought the name sounded familiar, and so I looked him up...he did the movie version of Howl's Moving Castle. I loved that book--I didn't even finish the movie! because it was so different from the book? that's just miyazaki. that's the only thing he did based on a book though. you should watch spirited away. it's amazing. most consider it his best one. (howl's is generally thought to be just medium quality as far as miyazaki goes)

dramaartwriting Feriku I've never been a big fan of anime, or manga, or any of that stuff. I got hooked because Robotech was on TV when I was growing up. (back before they had DirecTV or Satellite TV in '84 to '86) @Kaun did you see my trade? I noticed it now, thank you ^___^ That was super sweet of you to do biggrin

I don't know... I think at some point I just stopped liking animated stuff... Although the deviation from the book was my main problem with Howl's Moving Castle.

I thought Howl's was still a rather good movie, I mean nothing compared with Spirited Away of course but still a decent movie. And damn now I really really really wanna watch Spirited Away...
Oh well I think I might watch Princess Mononoke instead if my fiance won't mind.

Didja read the book? I rant and rave about movies that deviate too much from the book they're based on.

Nope, I did not know it was based on a book until I read it on here. Who wrote it?

Princess mononoke is amazing. my favorite are the little tree sprites. ^_^ they're so adorable! and the big headless thing is really cool, too.

You probably have heard about it, if not seen it. Just came out fairly recently.

I'm not totally against animated stuff. I just...I don't know...
Persephone? Uh...to me, Persephone is a character from Greek mythology. xD What was the movie?
Diana Wynne Jones has written a lot of books... Hmm... Maybe you've heard of the Chrestomanci series? Dark Lord of Derkholm? The Merlin Conspiracy?

Persepolis is an animated movie (based off of an autobiographic graphic novel) about a girl growing up during the iranian revolution. It's really really good, and aimed for more mature audiences (not in a sex way, just because it has heavy themes), despite it being an animation. you should look it up if you don't recognize it. It's really amazing.
